Also. Try to go out on a cool sat or sun morning for a quick ride for breakfats. This was you avoid heavy traffic and any need to speed. You also break up the training witha positive meal discussing whats comfortable and whats not. things that should be adjusted. Share the learning exp together. She has to get used to you and you to her.

I hate to sound like the macho go get em balls out type. but I thnk if you have exp rising and you know that there are limits and differences then you should be fine. 1200 miles on this bike and I just took my wife out % eeks ago.I would rent abike in another cpountry and ride 2 up as well. The line of communication is the key. She doesnt hop on or off until getting my ok. I dont crak the first throttle till I get her ok. Under 20mph she knows not to shift and in turns she keeps her hands on my side to become an extension of me. KNOW THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO MORE FORGIVING WITH THE CLUTCH AND EXAGERATE THE POINT WHERE YOU BEGIN TO HIT YOUR BRAKE.. ( START WAY EARLY). go OUT PUT SOME SLOW MILES AND BEGIN TO DO MORE AS YOU GET COMFORTABLE.

I think it time to rebuild the front master and caliper
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
I did al this guys. Removed the levers pins, bushings and clean off all corosion. Greased. I think I overgreased. It all felt good. I did get some heavy rain but dont think that washed aything off. The rubber dust covers are cracked and not covering much. I can try again to lube and clean -
About a month ago there was a post about a notchy feeling in the break and clutch and I believed I solved it with a fluid change. well its back and very annoying. I will hit the brale and its not enough to stop so I squeeze harder and it notches from firm to death grip and makes me really dive. I wonder if my plunger has goulk on it that needs to be cleaned out or if the pistons in the calipers have corrosion. either way. can someone direct me to a good source for both rebuild kits?

A hammer chisel and some 120 grit sandpaper will remove that stubborn decal!!

weird engine noise
muaymendez1 replied to fabioz84's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Its the lobing sound. sounds like you need a a carb synch. Synch them up. How many miles. It may be time for your valve adjustment. -
My 96 was purchased this past winter for 4200. I cant find anything worth looking at in that price range with the harley logo. even the 81 sportsters are going for more than that

These are the type that get glued onto your bar and the grip goes over and as per manufacturer also on top of the throtle under the grip. I used it all winter keeping my hands warm . I had a situation where I thought my throttle cables were binding. I lubed, adjusted lubed again with no cure. Not till chaging bars did I realize that the throttle plastic grip was distorted due to the heat from the heating strips. The throttle binds and is awesome as a cruise but taking a trip though traffic I really wished the things was working smoothly. I know I will be purchaing a throttle lock but is there any way to get the throttle back to shape. heat and something ???

Yep Been There done That. wasnt the break fluid on mine but the adjustment I was on the freeway when the rearon my 84 gold wing locked up. My leatherman andbandanna to kee the hot pipe off my arm was all I needed. Readjusted and Off I went. You could always adjust the plunger when that happenes.

how many miles with no valve adjustment??
muaymendez1 replied to kyle's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got my bike just at the time it needed the adjustment. I guess the 2nd owner realized that it needed to get done at got scared at the dealers price and sold the bike at a great deal. With the help Of PONCH and his tool and shim kit I preformed it at 27k miles. The intakes were on the tight side but not passed spec -
I have taken the seat cover off and shaved a bit of the hump with a sawzall. That help some as well. Soon I will be redoing it as well as adding ne foam so more saving will be getting done. When i did mine I shaved the fiberglass seat pan and allowed the foam to just lay oner. keeping the original shape until i sit on it . Hugging the tank is what helpped me a bit.

It was great to talk to you earlier. Sorry I had to go. Glad it all worked out so far.Mine is as old as yours but after the initial 26k miles I believe the second owner kept it in the garage. Just a few months in the weather and its begining to show signs. the clear coat on the aluminum is flaking, and I am tryingt o keep wax on the bare aluminum to keep tit from oxidizing. A lil antiseize in the holes should keep things smooth if the need to remove arises again.

I had teh same problem with the seat and I decided to try and change my sitting position before I swap out the seat. On mine. i noticed when i sit closerr to the tank , the soreness doesnt become apparent so early. I have been trying to find a longer harley seat as well and fitting it to my bike, How is your seating position. do you find that you are sitting on the seat hump instead of the dip?

Ive seen some guys use bug and tar spray remover as well. With similar results.

getting lil tired with my taillight . I would like to install a brighter multi led light, new plate mount and maybe some turn signal hugger lights on the fender. There is a module i can purchase to have my turnsignals also rnning lighst but how hard is it to make them running lights turn signals and brake lights as we?

As Pegscraper said. A heat gun will aid in sofenting the gulue and peel off very easy. This will also work for any emblems that are glued on. My badges came off with a lil heat and a 10lb fishing line.

http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/IMAG0264.jpg Im glad how it came out. If you look close you can see imperfections but who will be looking so close. I cut in angles with a hacksaw then filed down to a round shape. finished it off with some clear nail polish. While I had it off i sanded all the surface rust from the pivot points and greased all points with some moly.

Heel - Toe shifter has to go!
muaymendez1 replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/muaymendez/IMAG0264.jpg i cut it with a hacksaw and noticed that it was either stainless or aluminum. Maybe not aluminum because it was tough to cut by hand. i took a file to it and ended with sandpaper and clear nail polish incase the metal was not stainless. I think it looks good and works well also.- 60 replies

Lower the brake pedal?
muaymendez1 replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just tried lowering mine but i only lowered half an inch. I only tried adjusting the truss rod. I didnt think that removing and realigning on the splilnes would work. i believe i have them as low as possible. They bottom out just as they are gonna contact the engine guards. -
Considering moving from a Honda ST1100 to a Venture
muaymendez1 replied to djzoohelp's topic in Watering Hole
Its a big difference. The st1100 is very smooth and power band goes forever. IMO this is a lifted truck compared to your toyota camry. -
I have a great Idea but cant find the fasteners I need to carry through my project. I want to have wquick release botls for my saddlebags. Any ideas?

I was gonna say a hotter plug but the afterburn is subtle. Carb synch should clear that up. you may also need to go through more tanks of seafoam gas to make sure its clean. Put some morein synch and rideher like shes the hottest thing in your town.

If they are direct replacements there should be no reason the plugs arethe culprit. Why did you change the plugs? How did the old ones look? Was it just a change of plugs or what other service di you preform.Sticky slides, stuck floats, bad gas! Just some ideas. Mine has a slight backfire on decel but so do 2 of my buds ventures of later years. I deal with it. How bad is the backfire. And is it backfiring through the carb or afterburning through the pipes?
