Has anybody retro fitted a harley seat to fit
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
I spoke to Rick today and I have been convinced to let him do the mod. I am still in pain from 500 miles yesterday. I will be sending my seat off Friday . Cant wait!! -
Just did a 500 mile trip . the first leg only took me 100 miles before reserve but i was riding 95 and hit 110 a few times. After hitting reserve and fueling up I decicded not to speed in order to conserve fuel. All slab 145 miles before reserve doing 75 but on the way home I arrived at my door with 162 on the clock and have not had to switch to reserve yet. WHich means at 80 or so in heavier traffic then when I first left I should be pulling at least 47 mpg. i guess drafting behind trucks works.

Try turning the bulbs 180 degrees.

i have been going back and forth on the seat mod new seat or replacement and modification of a comfier seat. my seat is a pain in my rear end and i doubt that the butler seat mod will help a great deal. i dont want just a lil betyer I want comfort. Mustang seats want $600 for thier seats and I cant fork up that much. i can do $100 or so in the next few weeks or christmas for a $300 seat but No way i can get $600 for a seat past the wife. i think I can shave and make brackets for a nice road king or electra pillow top seat.; any ideas

You can take a childs ruler and make cuts every inch. Tape them altogethr and you have your self a homemade flexible ruler.

The joys of working on your own bike arecompounded by the joys of your pockets being fuller and knowing what was done and not thinking HMMM. Is my front wheel loose. did the mechanic tighten up the neck bearings?

Its like the short stocky kid in school. He very short and quiet but teaches the bully a lesson everytime.

In terms of airplanes if it helps. The engines for large propeller engines have longs piston rods( Long stroke) this causes tons of low end tourque to swing those huge proppellers. Duscted fan reciprocating engines. ( lik jets but also with pistons) have short strokes and creat less tourque but high revving power. My buddy's harley has awesome lowend tourque , better than my RSTC. But as hes peaked and going for the next gear I am still in first. he foes for 3rd I hit the rev limiter and slam into 2nd. Im not slamming the harley. Its just different technology like the comparison of a 12 cyl mercedes engine to a 10 cyl dodge. The dodge is agrunty beast in contrast. I wanted my bike because I researched so much. i didnt want another bike that i wanted to change for the next big thing. So far I have not looked back on my purchase. tell those guys to to shut up or put up and let teh bike defend itself.

I did pull the carbs to get the vakve cover gaskets replaced. Its possible I left something loose but for the problem to come about 3000 miles later. maybe some crud got caught up in the intake and clogging something up in there? -
I have been riding with my daughter for a while and heard some complaints about rear end soreness. My wife cant take it and its stopping her from enjoying the ride with me. I plan on getting a new seat but have heard tips from my buddys to tap her when a large pot hole is in the path. this way she can raise her butt abit. Ive been told to beef up the rear shock and change the fork oil. Combined we are 520lbs and I think we are over the max but I dont bottom out although the dips andholes really shake the bike. Is weight loss the only option ? Id like to hear from the big guys. Thin guys with dull humor need not respond .LOL Its like telling a short guy to grow taller in order to reach the ground better.

A Few months a go(5K mile) I dd the skydoc clutch mod and replaced the valve cover gaskets on his 99RSV. All as put back together and running Great. Now hes complaining of poor running and his pals smell raw fuel behind him and 37MPG when he used to get 43MPG. Ill have the bike again this weekend but besides something falling into teh carbs Im lost and thinking this guy has another issue not caused by my hands. Im at a loss for words because its mid summer I work 70 hours a week and now I have to cancell plans with my family thi weekend over it.

I saw this video a while back and fiended her on myspace. I like that shes become sort of an activist but as said before 120mph? I just went on a ride sunday witha guy I never met wearing a peanut shell. we rode into Pennsylvania where he preceeded to take off his helmet and ride like a nut. every down hill he would take his hands off the bars and I would slow way down. Its guy that have that It will never happen to me attutude that scare me. At least she was able to come out alive and try to teach others. This guy wont get a second chance at life. maybe he lived enough that he doesnt want a second chance.Thats fine with me just let me be aware of this so I could leave you to die alone.

Look up cb repair shops in your area. Im a trucker and my coworkers have 3 shops we deal with. They will have the meter and means of tuning it for you. They will also let you know if something is going on it. Be warned after speaking to them and knowing that you can amp your signal ten times you may leave there with less money in your pocket. my old cobra Cb would only reach 2 linear miles with 2 antenaes or 1 1/2 mile radius with one antenae. I added an amplifier and a linear and the reach is amazing now. Squelch down I can hear 6 linear miles easy. I drive the new york Long island region. On a good day at certain highway up hills I can reach 15 miles. I get update while on long island from a guy closer to the george washington bridge.

I rode yesterday. 95 mph to a friends house 25 miles away then leisure cruise to anothers house 25 miles away. We did hairy twisties that had me keep the rpms way up to use engine breaking before one turn and full power when comming out of another. i had to back off because this guy knew the road and I was trying to pick my heart out of my throat.! Not to mention that I had to lose my pride and tell the guy i couldnt keep up.I was a little pissed when he said he went twice the speed last week. A Hole. This road was his local ride. of course he knew every turn. Anyway ill stop ranting. i got 45 mile to the gallon at fill up. I decided to top off at 104 miles and only used 2.3 gallons of fuel. Leesson learned. keep the rpms up. the bike will thank you. l;ulgging around with some harley buddies I only get 40 mpg. And I dont try to emulate them I just dont like the look I get when My bike is winding out and they are putting along.

I may be riding too hard. I get 145 before having to switvch to reserve at which i cant keep a steady mind and feel that i need to gas up. then get upset when the tank only takes 3.9 gals. i should have 1 more gal to go which should give me a solid 40 more mile or 185 total

Gothic. That wont help. These people are clearly mentally disabled or influenced heavily. Protesting in front of thier church would not bother them. These radical assemblies beleive that a higher power tells them to do this. i am athiest and my mother is catholic. Her beliefs are copmpletley different than mine but we agree that a dead human deserves a proper service and burial no matter if he is millitary or civilian. The only people I do not believe need a propper service are killers rapest, extremest and terrorist. -

yammer.FInger pointing is fine when the facts state that there was a guy driving under the influence and he happens to be a retired officer. -

A man driving a pickup truck was driving in the opposite direction when he crossed into their lane hitting them head on. He was speeding and is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. The man responsible for this tragedy was kicked out of a bar not far from where the incident occurred not long before the accident. That man, John P Heaney III was NOT arrested at the scene and has not been charged yet.John P Heaney III is a former Plainfield NJ police officer that retired after a disability claim. He was NOT arrested at the scene. I'm sure that if he plowed into a mother with her children or a group of kids on bicycles he would still be sitting in a jail cell. But he just hit a group of bikers. Please read this: http://bikersofameric...http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/clear.gif Please feel free to forward it to anybody that you wish. We need to do all that we can to make sure that the man that caused this accident with his careless actions does not get away with drunk driving - and causing an accident that left two wives without their husband, and their children without a father. The DAs contact info: John M. Morganelli Northampton County Courthouse 669 Washington St Easton PA 18042-7492 Phone: (610) 559-3020 Peace, GEORGE BOUTIN PLEASE HELP GET THE WORD OUT AND PASS THIS ALONG ON ANY SITE OR TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WILL STAND UP FOR MICHAEL AND KEITH SINCE THEY CAN NO LONGER STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES.
