Here is quote from the thread. "You will want to add some washers to the needle and diapragm. Now I dont know how Don Murray did it but I simply removed one of the washers from the top and slid it up from the bottom.Just disassemble the unit and move one of the washers or buy extra washers from your dealer" I guess the picture is to show what it looks like and not what he did. He didnt want to lead anyone and allows us to choose how to do this. I will buy more washers because I think the 3 washers are there for areason.

Thank you for the article. It seems he went back to stock main jets but increasing the pilot jets and shimming the needle gave him quicker throttle response which is what I am looking for. great article thank you again. i will be ordering new pilot jets and some washers. i know it will be a trial and error prcess but labor day weekend will give me plenty of time. Now to tap a bottle of soda so I dont have keep reinstalling the tank for a test ride.

Ok So i am jumpning feet in . The low end stumble when trying to take off , the hard starts in the summer while having to use full choke. And the long wait to warm up even in the summer is driving me nuits. The 96 rstc came with kromewerks aftermarket pipes and I doubt it was ever rejetted. I was planning on taking the carbs off and turning the pilot jets richer 1/2 to a full turn but was told by a friend if the carbs are gonna be off just step up the main jets one size larger. does anyone have any info on this . Is it a good idea and if so where do i get the jets and how do i know what size are in there now? I have a dose of seafoam now to see if this is the problem. i plan on doingthis labor day weekend so I want to get ready now.

Just as good as electrical tape but has a sticky surface on the oout side is non adhesive medical tape. i asked my nurse for some when I was going for blood tests and I used it on clamps for the ex pass holder.

It is raining out today. ill wait for teh rain to settle to take some pics. I think with her short legs, the pegs would be better up a bit.or maybe her back rest a little forward. With my wing she was very close to me and with the star I dont even notice shes back there. I will be taking the sissy bar off for winter riding and Ill se then if there is any forward adjustment on it.

Ok first long ride with the wife. kids were away for the weekend. A new seat is needed as her butt couldnt take the punishment. Next year tax season for the russel day long, but what about peg placement. my wife complained that the back of her legs were sore from the saddle bag crash bars digging into the calf muscle. Is there a way to adjust the peg or any other suggestions.

So My problem was noticed last winter. The bike would take forever to warm up which made my short ride to work unpleasant. I just read an article on shadow wherethe same problem existed. Long warm ups. Choking when goosingthe throttle and poor off idle preformance. Before getting into changing jets the article spoke of raising the idle needles by adding shims. Also turning the pilots out 1/2 to a full turn to enrichen idle. I dont mind trying out a few options but I was hoping someone had info tested and tried options so I didnt have to be the test dummy. The bike has khrome werks turn out exhaust which is louder but the carbs jets seem to be sock from previous owner. I get slight popping on decel and power is great. Only idle preformance is bugging me.

Stalling

I have a similar problem hope to see advice on this thread. If I am sitting at alight for a few secs and cracking the throttle my bike choles. I have to pull the clutcha nd give a few twists to clear it up. Cesnnas always loaded up with carbs so I thought its was a natural carb issue. Just have to time the light and raise the idle slightly to avoid choking. Good mpg besdes that it takes long to warm up on cold mornings -
I kept beating myself up because I know I lubed all lever contact points and fresh fluid. Yadda yadda . well what happened is that the lever was Binding up at the fulcrum. the point where there is a screww with a locknut on the bottom. i always over tighten stuff and by doing so with plenty of grease at the hinge the lever worked wonderfully. Well as the grease wore off the tightened hinge was causing more friction. i loosened the locknut and realized that the lever action was also tightening the bolt/Pin. i backed out the screw greased it all up and locktite the locknut. The nut is not squeezing the hinge point and the locknut will nut work itself loose with extra protection. tigtening that screw and nut too much will cause un needed friction and cause your brake lever to feel tight. Simple lesson learned.

I think it time to rebuild the front master and caliper
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
I will be having to relube the hinge points again because my front brake is becomming almost useless. Its getting hard to pull and when it does pull it almosts locks up the front wheel. the front really dives. This is stressing me because it wasnt this bad until this week and I have a ride planned trhis weekend. -

That split second that you saw the car saved yourlife. You saw it panicked and reacted as would we all. I have seen an accident wherethe rider was completley unaware that he was gonna get hit. The guy didnt make it so Im glad this ant the case. What upsets me is that you said "KID" which implies thecar driver was young and I have come close to many young rivers while driving my rig. They dont respect my rig and less a bike. He probably droveoff thinking " stupid Biker" . Now I know I shouldnt be adding gas to the fire but thats where my mind goes after an incident -
Its amazing the ammount of people that cant ride ride walk into a dealership and buy the biggest most obnoxious machine they can afford and driop it 3 times before leaving the parking lot. i am glad to got it worked out but its not your fault. now if you would have had ten beers with him and set him loose then i would say you have culpability .

Hard to get into neutral
muaymendez1 replied to golftodd's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have the same problem. New oil, fresh clutch fluid, bled, still have the problem when hot. i find it easier to find neutral if shifting while still rolling. if already stoped. Pull teh clutch lever put pressure up on the shifter from 1st and light hit the friction zone and. Presto!! Not a fix but a way around changing the clutch. -
I did some thinking and it was unfair to say it had no grunt. I am a 368 lb guy after all. And I may have been twisting the throttle like a cruiser. It was fun for sure and woyldnt .ind having it in my garage.

So I was at the dealer looking for a part for a friends carb and I kept looking at the sport bike alley. A salesman came up to me and after I told him how fun it would be to have a second toy and Ive always wanted to do a burnout and a wheelie, he brought me the keys and said go have some fun but be careful. I had 5 hours with this thing and it was amazing. Teh truth is I only rode for short 20 minute bursts . I stopped homoe had Sausage and peppers. then rode some more. Its amazing how light that bike is and although the grunt wasnt there , I did find myself hitting 90 on residential streets. And the front brake is so touchy. I remember thinking how I was gonna lock up the front. NOTE TO SELF> " no sport bike for me" END NOTE. I couldnt get the smile off my face but unfortunatly i had to leave teh bike there with a dissapointed salesman.

My 87'VR was Rear ended At WalMart...Of All Places!
muaymendez1 replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Hey Earl. The bike can be repaired or replaced . Glad you are not seriously hurt. And I commen you on keeping composed. have been in those situations and it takes a few people to literallty pull me off of some Idot. I dont get mad at accidents but complete disregard pisses me off. Make his insurance Pay. Make sure you let them know you were in the spot for a while and you were ready o dismount. The bike was parked although they may try to spin it. Also let them know the guy confirmed culpability by apppologizing. At work we are taght not to appologize at all. -
A sports car with a rag top sounds like you can go Trike and be allright. its ultimately your call. Have fun in anything you decide. Dont start growing up just because your body is realizing its growing old. Best of luck

42 with the wife on.? I think someone is riding conservative for the audience. I usually dont rev over 3k till i get blocks away from my wife. She doesnt understand why it takes so long to ge places when alone I get there in half the time.

They can be forced in to lock at 180 degrees which will turn them into running lighst and not blink or backwards. Im not 100% sure but i know my left turn signal wasnt blinking. i pulled it out cleaned the moisture put it back in and it lit but it wouldnt blink. now the right bulb wasnt on so i looked closer and my turn fillament was burnt but by putting the bulb in 180 degrees it would turn on as a running light but still no turn signal. Hope i made some sense

Im glad you are ok and only the cosmetic stuff was damagaed. That said I really dont think laying your bike down is the best way to convince your wife of getting a new windshield.
