It's steady.I have adjusted it but it's not the travel it's the force needed to pull.I do think there is a glazed surface. What is glass bead and if I sand thee glaze off, wouldn't I need to di it constantly.

I keep trying to get used to some things on my bike but I think I should repair the problem instead of trying to get used to. My brake lever is very hard to get the bike to stop. Pulled my calipers and made sure all pistons are working fine. The next step is to change the pads and see if anything is wrong with the master. I really have to squeeze hard to the point where I hate using the front brake. I cured the notchiness by loosen ing the pinch bolt snd lubing all hinge points. So what is left

Ok so Im beating a dead horse. But Im ready to upgrade my seat
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Ok So i stand corrected. learn something new. So the corbin is not a good choice for me although looking at the dual touring seat . it looks like a better option.. I have been looking at the russel day long but it seems they need the seat pan which is damage, in order to build on top of it. they use your seat pan as a aplatform. So now Im narrowing it down to saddleman or mustang. -

The seat pan is black and has been cut. i was hoping to send it off to rick but THE SEAT PAN IS DAMAGED. If this is a corbing then i will have to choose another route. i will be contacting corbing and ruseel in the next few weeks to see if they have a showroom of some sort near me so that i can sit on a few before deciding. As i said before My buddy has a goldwing as did I . He purchased teh corbin for his bike also telling the company to sit 1 inch higher and 2 inches back . They made the seat as he wanted and he was very happy. I rode that bike and also was very happy. the problem with this seat is that i have a wide rear and the edge of the seat dig into my cheeks, also the rear of the seat raises which for a thinner guy may give back support but on me it was rubbing on my tail bone. Ive tried sitting fore and aft . -
I just loved the way they articulated and over annunciated everything. Its like they were talking to the hard of hearing.

The but bones hurt now but I was having problems with the tail bone but found that it was the seat pan irritating me., Its so bad that after one day of riding i park the bike for a week. -
This has been an issue for me since I purchased the bike in feb of 2011. the seat is just unbearable. I was planning on sending it to Butler to have it modded but the owner before me made some mods to the seat pan. Time has come( Tax return and bonus season) to set my sights on an aftermarket seat that will be comfortable for my wife and I. We dont do extensive trips but we dont want to hurts after 100 miles. I would like to ride 400 and not think twice about riding again the following day. Id liek some pros and cons from those that have Mustang, Corbin, Ultimate and although russel day long doesnt have one currently for the 96 rstc Id still like some feedback as it is now I am turning away from corbin because I have sat on a few and the seat I found very hard, although no soreness. i still would like someting a lil plush.

New sounds coming from front end. What is it?
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
Ok after careful inspection I found that the brake hose guard by the front caliper was creating a rub mark on the fork.I bent that back a lil and didn't hear the noise today.Didn't give it a good enough ride but so far so good.Although now my head is filed with ideas of changing the fork oil and next year changing out the springs. Can any tell me if there is a write up on changing the fork oil. -

muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
I'm gonna try the simple stuff first.Tightening the steering nut, checking the radiator, tighten everything down. Lift the front wheel and check for looseness. If nothing comes of this,I will be researching changing the oil and springs. -

So with some of the answers here and some research in thee pages I'm leaning towards the neck bearings. I am going to need a special tool and have to repack the bearings. Not something I can really afford or want to do during the winter. I ride every sunday during winter and do my repairs in the spring. I guess I can start shopping for the items and have them waiting -
Brake lever issue again.Winter gloves again .

That sounds about right a wine. The tire only has 1000 miles but it is a bridgestone.I will research the neck bearings and see if that can be tightened this weekend.I havn't read too much on it but remember over tightening is a bad thing. I will think about springs after the neck. But wouldn't bad springs show up on bad handling -
So all warm season riding was fine and my brake lever reach problem had subsided.here it is again.the lever is too far and also very hard to squeeze. Are there after market levers available that for closer to the grip. I checked and lubed all pivot points again and the lever is just so damn hard to squeeze Am I being a baby?

I have been hearing a clunk when going over large bumps.I thought the fender or something like that was loose but a preliminary check turns up nothing loose. It really concerned me sunday after rolling through a rough part of the road.I thought something was gonna fall off. Another noise was like heard when leaning into a curve. Can't explain it but the sound was in conjunction with a feel. Are my wheel bearings dry, damaged, or could it be my neck bearings. I'm sorry this is so cryptic but I can't video tape the sound because the wind noise is too great.I am just hoping some one has an ideawhat neck and wheel bearings symptoms might be. Maybe some inspections I can preform.I csnt figure oit how to change the fork oil without removing the forks.

The tour classic I have is adjusted by 2 screws left and right just below center line. They dont control movement around horizontal or lateral axis . You have to turn both. It is hinged at top and in unison turning them in lowers the light. If there is too much turned in on one side it is still lower but right pushes light right and vise versa. I had to re adjust mine tonight after some one kept stabbing the brakes. They were really off. Now they are about 2 feet high at 30 feet. looks good to me.

looks like a fun commuter bike.

I used to fly nitro and then race nitro cars and now I just cant afford to gt all the nececities of nitro rc. I do believe that unless you are flying a trainer and have awesome dead stick flying abilities, I wou, ldnt mess around with the fuel. you may not get aclean burn resulting in a bad idle or throttle response.I would hate to be the one making a high speed low pass or a knife edge and have the motor cut out. It takes a few seconds to realize ha just happened and there goes that money and time pit crashhing.

Replacing seat with harley seat
muaymendez1 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Ok just recieved the ultra classic seat and boy is it beautiful, but it doesnt fit. the harley seat is a flat mount and my babay needs a dip in the riders seat. No dip on this harley seat. it just wont work. Ok onto other things . try to get rid of this and find anotehr seat to try -
So i think I have my answer. The bike is just cold blooded. Guess i will be purchasing a second bike for winter commuting to work. I thik a nice dual sport will do nicely. KLR 650 maybe. Thanks for the responses guys. I live 20 minutes from work and it takes almost 15 to warm up fully. It really sucks to be making a turn in an intersection when your bike stalls.
