  1. i just got the gloves for christmas and wore them 4 times a total of maybe 16 hours with the heat on. Just thursday I thought the heat wasnt working. i blamd it on the bitter cold and kept riding anyway . Saturday i noticed the light on the rocker switch was blinking . The switch looked great when i oppend and inspected. the gloves work well plugged directly into the power source. has anyone else had a problem with the switch. It has been used for 5 rides tops, The sloder joints look good but the bpower cuts off when moving the wire. Can the wire have broken inside the insulator so soon?
  2. I rode 208 miles one day on a tank. I was trying to see at what point the fuel light comes on. I couldnt take it . the fear of getting stranded was killing me so i pulled into a gas station and Put some fuel in. Before that I was filling up at 160 worried I was gonna run out of fuel . 4.9 gals 208 miles , I got 42 mpg and who knows if 10 feet away from the gast station driveway i may have run dry? Im happy with 42 run it on the reserve setting. Do some all around riding . Your highway and your street milage will differ. Sometimes greatly
  3. I like the outside the box thinking.I have been looking for a single beam to mount on thr handlebars.Pointed up slightly and to the reat to illuminate my raised finger in protest art some of newjerseys finest drivers
  4. Yes sir.I get this out of the front with brickstones.I thought I had bad bearings.Anytime a lean is initiated my tires howl and complain.
  5. I did that on an old master cyl that was really coroded.I removed the clear glass (plastic) ,a us dime fit snug and I put jb weld inside and around. No signs of the brake fluid attacking the jb weld after 2 years
  6. I have used j b weld and it help strong for 2years but u cant see through it
  7. Ok I see where I may have misled. I remember when cornering came very natural to me.But after the incident I questioned the safety of leaning too far or breaking too hard.I started second guessing everything. That became dangerous when I became frightened with a turn and used hard braking instead of leaning it further and rolling on the throttle. I pannicked. So for me pushing the bike to the point of scraping a hinged footboard was essential.I know that at that point I have gone far enough. I viewed it as a hurdle instead of a warning.I know the machine can do it,I just needed to know I could do it again. And I did so today.I know now that I could have leaned further snd avoided locking up the rear 3 weeks ago.So now I am a bit more confident that im not gonna lose it and I wont get.nervous till I hear the footboards telling me I am bordering the edge. Hope this makes sense.I dont need to ride balls to the wall to enjoy the ride but I want to know the limits of my machine so when I need to call on it it is available.Almost like getting a faster bigger meaner bike when a small 650 can break any speed limit in america it will just take longer to get there.
  8. I think we should split the forum into general tech classifieds and one lump for oil, tire, and snake oil.
  9. I think i slowly got my confidence back. The first gens do have a better lean angle as did my goldwing without the floorboards. i had a great time today. Blind turns were a bit fast and some SCRAPAGE was allowed but there was a section of the road where there were tight left and right twisties that you could see behind and I was having a blast. I think what really got me down was that I was trying to follow someoone twho has definetly been on said road a few times. So for now I have not damaged my ego, and im not trying to be a racer . To me a scrape of the pegs means that you were able to lean to the bikes max potential. My boards flex up so the point where they scrape is where I have to know to back off.Lucky that county Mounty didnt see me 3 turns earlier or he would have stopped me for sure. There were right angle bends posted at 15mph but the bike handled well at 40mph and Im sure others take it alot quicker.
  10. Stupid auto correct.I mean t brake pads
  11. So I went oit for a cool ride and I learned tjat I ride well.Cornering is fine, its just blind curves I done like. The ones I can see around are great and I have a hell of a time but a blind curve scraping the floorboard and then a parks dept vehicle approaching and over the doubler yellow line scared the crap outta me. Was a fun a great day to go riding,
  12. I have locked up my rear a few times.More than I an comfortable with.I think it may be one of the reasons why I ride more conservative.I'm afraid of going into a turn to hot abd then braking the rear loose. I just improved my front brakws sio I will give a few more thousand miles before making a decision. Fron what I hear performance suffers a lil and I am looking for better preforming tires.I use my bike for fun outings snd not so much touring so A tire will last me 3 years so I dont mind spending a lil extra for great preforming tires
  13. I'm gonna add here that I had a problem where I could squeeze a hard as I could and it wouldnt stop the bike. Skydoc_17 told me about hh sintered brake piss and it fixed my brake problems. Sio if not warped and nothing damaged look into the HH pads. From what I was told my brake piss were loaded with brake dust making it glazed snd in turn glazing my rotor. I cant express how happy I am now being able to lock up the front tire. Not that I will but its assuring to know that My brakes work as or more than intended
  14. I use crisco or Mazola, great tasting and fully organic
  15. When I ride with ther local Hog chapter they like keeping exp guys up front followed by less exo and then 2exp riding sweep. Is there a rule of thumb.I think they do it this way cause no one wants to ride into a fallen rider, which I have witnessed.
  16. Ok so I sought the help of an experienced buddy and the conversation was quite thr confidence builder. I told him thay I wanted to ride today and thst I was gonna push myself but if he didnt see me behind I would be lagging. His response was that he only rode 1k miles in the past 4 months and that he was accepting the ride so he could refresh as well since last tuesday made him feel a bit inexperienced.lol So we will be meeting today and helping each other out. A few hours in a parking lot and a few on the twisties. He commended me and said he was honna try to be more like me and communicate his worries when ruding in a group. He wanted to tag along and not tell me that he was uneasy. It sure is great to be around friends.Going oit in a few we are looking forward to an unheard of 60 degrees in february in NewJersey
  17. I dropped it on a curve 5 years ago. There was plenty of gravel. Then last year 4 of us in a group.I took the merging ramp scraping pegs on an unfamiliar bike (a loaner). My buddy behind me didn't negotiate it well and lost his life.I dont think its eating at me but not knowing whats around that bend scares me. Ladt summer with all thr high winds and hurricanes wer were hit with, you never knew which bend had a tree sticking out into the roadway or falling rocks from thr hill s. Another thing is sun glare.Im happy eith all shade or all sun, Those turns where sun shines in your eyes every 10 feet blind me.wgich again causes anxiety
  18. Thanks for all the positive responses. I am so glad I posted this. I was actually ashamed to post this but I am being welcomed with open arms. Wow . What a feeling. I completely forgot about the advanced rider course. I am goona search now and see if any are open. thanks guys
  19. Ok so i have been dealing with this for a while and it takes a lot to get this off my chest but i feel very wimpy when going into a turn since I lost my buddy riding 14 months ago. i thought i was over it but I constantly get scared before a turn and slowdown and then reallize how fun the turn would have been a bit faster. I thought it was the new bike but now I have 5000 miles on this bike and I still feel uneasy. I have to say that there are times when I scrape and I have narrowed that down to open visible turns. New jersey with all its foliage has lots of blind curves which I cant see around. I have also notice that if the turn is a large radius I go into it slower but can eventually gain the speed to scrape the floorboards. SO i am thinking my problem is not adjusting my speed to enter the turn correctly. is this just an experience thing. Should i just go out there and ride a twisty road over and over again to practice? I should also mention that my breaks were not up to par and Now that I have good breaks I dont have to panic to stop. My last panic I came up on a turn quick and I wasnt slowing down fast enough hence a grab and stomp on the brakes and a rear lockup through the turn onto the opposite lane. luckily no traffic was there to greet me.
  20. Its wierd how some have bad experiences snd others swear by it. If you measure the contact patch of a car tire abd aMC tire in a bike. They are very similar. With our not sio aggressive lean angles, we will never ride thr side wall.I guess the wobble that can be felt is from a softer sidewall collapsing under pressure with incorrect tire pressure. I think I'm gonna try it soon as I can find an inexpensive candidate
  21. Hahaha you beat me to it. Sit back and watch the band width plumet.
  22. What a coincidence.I just discussed this with a friend last night. I thing I will be fitting a car on the rear next tire change.
  23. I have bneen thinking about this for some time and thinking about doing it as well but I am very curious. If it takes so much pressure to seat the tire how difficult is it to remove the tire. also has the bead been properly lubed and who is installing this. All mc shops I deal with wont touch a car tire. they dont want to be held liable for anything especially an exploding rim.
