  1. Loaded a beta version of IE 10 last evening and all went very well. I have had a few problems with IE 9 not opening properly in new windows. So far so good with the update to IE 10.
  2. Check the map attached for a great ride through the UpState NY area. Starting point is Arcade, NY!!! https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=201162086474355035694.0004ce92abaed688b2020
  3. My 86 is down for maintenance (not TCI related) and I would gladly remove the unit and send to you for testing yours.
  4. Gunsamerica has an add for once fired 22 Hornet brass at $16.00/100 or $125/1000. The link is below. http://www.gunsamerica.com/962185303/REMINGTON+R-P+22+HORNET+ONCE+FIRED.htm
  5. I have two original antennas mounted on my 86. I plan changing both over to the Firestick "Firefly" antennas this winter. If you want original antennas and brackets they are available. They are installed with spacers to clear the trunk trim bar, if that is another concern. They can be used either way.
  6. I have fulfilled my obligation and privilege to make my choice count.
  7. Please put me down for one. If I am going to do any long distance riding, this next summer, the bike needs to be as dependable as possible.
  8. I am in a similar position. I was "downsized" out of a job in February, just six months before my 65th birthday. Still haven't been able to regulate my routine the way I should. Can't accustom myself to the time off. Your advice is well spoken concerning the need to prepare for the unemployment line. It may come earlier than expected. I wish you well with your new found freedom.
  9. Would any of these fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-XVZ1300-STATOR-GENERATOR-ENGINE-COVER-/190733947727?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c68a1134f&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-STATOR-GENERATOR-ENGINE-COVER-/130760935307?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e71f5878b&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-STATOR-GENERATOR-COVER-ENGINE-/190626340668?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c62371f3c&vxp=mtr
  10. Very nice work. I have had some difficulty keeping the frame tube clamps from slipping on my MKII installation. A modified version of your design would be much more stable. Off to the drawing board!!
  11. Thanks again for another great story. I appreciate the fact that the human experience is given in such detail. Please keep them coming!!
  12. If you are in need of the Vmax front brake joint for linking the front calipers, there are several on ebay. They are listed below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-VMAX1200-VMAX-1200-2003-Front-Brake-Caliper-Lines-Line-/271032202049?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessori http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-Yamaha-Vmax-V-Max-VMX12-FRONT-BRAKE-LINE-/200761878878?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ebe57295e&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Vmax-V-Max-VMX12-1200-Front-Brake-Lines-Splitter-18k-1985-/170795787855?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c438e64f&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Yamaha-Vmax-V-Max-85-07-Front-Brake-Joint-Line-/250451072581?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a500c1645&vxp=mtr
  13. If we were sitting around the fire, face to face after a ride, the conversation might go something like this: "If you think that is true, you must be some kind of a MORON!" "Moron! I don't think so. You must have your head on backwards!" "Want another beer?" "Yeah, as long as it' a regular, not a light." "You got to see that I am right on this one." And so it would go, until a better topic (bikes, tools, cars, almost anything) came along. The next morning we go riding, same as usual. There isn't anyone here that would not go the distance to help another, in a time of need. The opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the responder.
  14. Just sitting here "what if-ing" this bit of information. The scenario does not seem to make much sense on either side of the coin. Buying a new car is an event of high importance in American culture. Taking delivery of a new vehicle, on the day before going on a cruse, is a little odd in my book. When I cruse a car lot, I can tell you all the sticker prices on every vehicle that interests me. All the options and the likely value of my trade against each combination. If there is a black SUV and a blue SUV on the lot, the statics would be firmly committed to memory before beginning the "process". There are several events that give me pause for concern: 1. Cash deal for a vehicle, that you are not sure that you really want? (took it back the next day) 2. Swapping the vehicle for one that might have been considered initially? (took the black one back expecting to swap for the blue, obviously known to be there) 3. Might have known the difference in price before attempting the swap? (why did he not buy the blue one in the first place) 4. Does all this on the day before going on a cruise? (maybe a convenient absence after the transaction) 5. Why would any dealer risk the repercussions of a GTA charge and the subsequent arrest of a customer, under these circumstances? (what we know at this time) This sort of behavior, for either party, would not be considered typical (on the up-n-up) for anyone that I know. The whole affair looks fishy to me. Is this guy in bed with someone at the dealership? The response of the dealership sales staff is the most surprising of all. Do you know of any auto sales persons that are not aware of the consequences of the "deal", sales 101? All sales good managers know the final delivery cost, to the dealership, of any vehicle. The margin of profit to break even (keep the lights on). The relative sales commission and the cost of the interest paid to keep the vehicle on the lot each successive month. All of this information is computerized and would be available (for their viewing only) before there is a signature affixed to any documents. There would seem, at least to me, to be more to this than some mistake or the possible deal of the century. I will wait on the final judgement of the courts for the possible confirmation of my suspicions, but you have to admit this is a strange one.
  15. I enjoyed the first of your articles that I read. If you are persuaded to offer some more, I would consider it time well spent to read them. You never know, once the drywall and insulation are finished, there might be time for other things.
  16. The article was thoroughly enjoyable! I had no idea that LD rides were as complex as you have described. After reading your travelogue, I would think that the mental preparations and performance requirements outweigh the physical endurance aspects. Great piece of writing that explains the human side of the experience as opposed to just how many miles ridden. You have provided me with a much better understanding of why anyone would do what would otherwise seem pure torture. Godspeed and many safe miles in the future. PS: Do they allow sidecar rigs to compete?
  17. Carol and I send our prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  18. Found one, newly listed on ebay, for under $500.00. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-GOLDWING-GL-1800-GENUINE-HONDA-CB-RADIO-KIT-08E95-MCA-100A-NEW-2001-2010-/350603243884?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51a194f16c&vxp=mtr
  19. The folks at DMC (Dauntless Motor Corp.) can supply nearly every kind of mounting hardware imaginable. If you send me a picture of the left side of the car I may be able to suggest some options. The folks at DMC may have a record of the required hardware, from a previous installation. Here is a link to their webpage. www.dmcsidecars.com Your going to love it.
  20. Just uploaded some more pictures showing the progress of the sidecar modifications. The lid is finally attached to the body and the alignment and fitting can take place. This has turned out to be one humdinger of a project. It does seem to be taking a long time but doesn't look too bad, yet! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=1102
