  1. I have had issues with repeated use of the same card from my camera. The problem turns out to be (most times ) that the card is not seated in the slot fully. It sometimes takes a couple of try's to make the proper contact, If this fails to remedy the problem, insert the card and open the Library or My Computer views to see if the card is seen by your operating system. If it is you will see a drive letter indicating the removable storage devise representing youre SD card. If it is there you can click on it to open and view. If you have installed other software that can take the default viewer position, there may be a conflict. Open a viewer and search for the SD card file.
  2. I am not sure who the high bidder was on the tool kits but I now know who one of my competitors was. I finally did have success with one last year and have it firmly strapped in the right saddlebag of my 86. Les
  3. If you want to get away "on the cheap" and without major work, the bore can be bushed with UHMW or other self-lubricating plastics. Cut and shape a piece to fit the shape of the distorted bore (the stuff is easily worked by hand). Leave it a little large and press it into the bore. Drill it out to the proper size and it should last for a long time, if there remains a sufficient amount of plastic. An end-mill can be used to plunge cut an accurately sized hole that will accept a bushing made of the oil-lite bronze, that Bob mentioned, or Roulon or other PTFE materials. The plastics can be massaged a little to fit a less than precise pilot bore. A drill press and a sturdy clamping fixture would be a minimum requirement. The re-bushed hole would not need to be located on the exact center of the original as the position of the shifter can vary a little without ill effects. I have used plastic milk jugs, brass shim stock and a variety of other materials, when the need has arisen, with a great deal of success.
  4. I have attached some pics of the louvered inserts that I have for sale. I obtained these as part of a side-cover pair purchase from ebay. All that I wanted was the vents because they had the chrome accents attached. There is some slight paint over-spray on them and as I was cleaning them I broke off one of the mounting tabs. I decided to strip the accents and attach them to the ones from my bike. The white goo shown in the pictures is chrome polish and the edge view shows the remnants of the double faced tape used to attach the accents.
  5. I found two on ebay. Complete side-covers with louvered inserts. One for $150.00 and the other for $55.00. Here is the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-yamaha-venture-xvz1200-xvz-1200-right-side-cover-/260356188974?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3c9e702b2e&vxp=mtr
  6. I have a spare set of louvered inserts for my 86. One has a broken mounting tab but is still serviceable and is not seen from the exterior. I do not know what a fair price would be and will send a picture if you are interested.

  8. Dale, Very nice travilog, with just a touch of exasperated humor for good measure. I really enloyed the parts about the communal decision making process. We gents can be on the receiving end of a singular feminine strategy on occasion. My wife and have had a similar experience on a cruse and would also go again. You can't beat the price for what you receive, especially if you like to eat. We haven't been to Disney World since 1972 so it's probably time for a revisit. We should take your advice and stay in one of the park hotels to eliminate some of the peripheral entertainment. Thanks, I enjoyed your words, Les
  9. Thanks for the replies to my query. The reason for the gear change is that the bike is attached to a Motorvation Formula sidecar and a lower gear ratio should help with the overall performance and may even improve the milage. The use of the VR driveshaft did seem to be the correct application but I was not sure and did not want to chance the distruction of the differential out in the middle of nowhere.
  10. I have a nearly new E-Bay found Progerssive rear shock and spring assembly ready for installation in my 86 Royale. Does anyone have access to a copy of the original paperwork that would have been included with the shock when new?
  11. I have a nice 92 V-Max pumpkin ready for installation in my 86 Royale. I have the original V-Max drive shaft and have been told that that must be substituted for the Venture shaft when the swap is made. The V-Max shaft is considerably shorter than the Venture and with the two units side by side I can not determine the necessity for the V-Max shaft to be used. Is there anyone out there that has completed this exchange that can offer some assistance?
