  1. What are you folks doing for winterizing? Are you filling up the fuel tank and putting in a product like Stabil or are you draining the carbs and filling the fuel tank and putting in Stabil. Or something else?
  2. Thanks. I'm not sure I want to do the drilling on the fairing just yet. I guess I have aversion to it since they seem kinda fragile.
  3. Has any put Baker Air Wings on their 1st gen? I got upper, mid, and lower ones but the two upper ones you have to drill into the fairing. No I' m not crazy about doing this. I wondering if anyone has had any problems with the fairing cracking eventually from the drilling? Do you like them?
  4. In my motorcycle training we do an exercise called the brake and escape. You have one lane of cones set up that split into two lanes. You enter the cones at 40 mph and perform maximum breaking with both wheels just about to wheel lock up (not skidding) but you are also downshifting to first gear simutaneously. You are signalled to go to the right or left lane (like going around a car) now since your in first gear and your speed is low you can go around the obstacle. I've done it as high as 50 mph but beyond that you go through the cones at the end. Basically your doing your braking then you turning. Our new bikes now have ABS which I have come to like alot you cant lock these things up. You can brake in a turn but you better have a steady touch or your going down (ask me how I know) and I would probably use more rear then front. But every situation is different. I usually practice good braking every day I ride and slow speed manuvers.
  5. Yea I got the airbox closed. I wonder though I noticed the carbs are really out of sync after the rebuild engine running crappy I noticed it like backfiring through the carbs and actually blowing the carbs out of thier boots. Im wondering if I dont have enough seal around the airbox at the carbs and enough seal at the carbs to the boots. I'm gonna check this out wondering if I'm getting to much air in. I also have this tube that vcomes off the breather tube below the carbs that I dont know where it connects too. Any ides on that?
  6. Just curious what kind of Hg readings people get with the carbtune on 1st Gen bikes. I rebuilt my carbs new all new diaphrams all jets cleaned out (Had a idle problem had to keep bike on full choke to idle the tiny purge jets were clogged) I can idle with no choke now but I if I give it throttle it dies. Not very high readings on the carbtune almost non-existant except for #2 any ideas? Gonna try colortune first I guess.
  7. I went down with Kevlar lined gloves they worked pretty well.
  8. Ok I didnt see it in the description. I guess I'll find out I'll be doing this mod soon. You know of anyone messing with the rear shock putting in the progressive 420 shock?
  9. I was just talking to a mechnic friend today about this he likes to crack the clutch line to the master cylinder open to get any air out at the high point in the system also.
  10. Did you loosen the pinch bolts on the sides of the fork caps? Looks like that might have helped strip the fork caps due to the pressure of the pinch bolts. They come out real easy if you loosen these pinch bolts first.
  11. Does anyone know what heights 1st Gen windshields came in?
  12. No another guy had the same set up but separated the running boards and the shifter/brake I think total he cleared 265 for both.
  13. One just sold on Ebay for 96 bucks. I lost in my bidding. Check there everyday.
