How much stopping power?
CrazyHorse replied to mark reed's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You have linked brakes with a proportioning valve that limits how much fluid goes to rear brake. Your left front and rear are linked together through rear brake pedal.- 35 replies

Some of these carb parts arent cheap. I wonder if they are just going to clean them up. Hard rubber parts all I can think of is O rings and the small air cut off diaphram which I think is 26 bucks a piece. Oil, brake and clutch fluid change is really not that hard you could do it yourself.
-
How do you tell what version you have? I only saw in the software version 3.30. I was deceived several times in the Niagra region of Canada by my unit on businessess.
-
No such thing as a kit for these. 4 diaphrams alone at the cheapest would be at least $210.00+ just for the parts no instalation.

Putting your foot down while moving more then 1-4 mph on a big bike with bags in a turn is not a great idea. The reason being is your foot leg will sometimes be forced under the bags by the moving bike and break your leg and or ankle.

It's all about balancing what I mean by that is balancing throttle input, rear brake input, and clutch. In a slow turn your throttle, rear brake and clutch will stabilize your turn and prevent you from falling you just have to find where that is and it only comes from practice and experimenting. Two up is going to be different then one up your gonna need more power to gain that balance. Same on a watercraft in a tight slow turn if there's not enough power in your turn you will uncerimoniously be tossed into the water for a baptism you didnt neccesarily want.

I'd be next to you line. I've been thinking bout Kawasaki Concours anyone have one?

I think your right about this. The classic look was what many here grew up with. Many baby boomers wanting nostaglia fueled the market for that classic look that took place over the last decade or so. If I remember right wasnt Harley just about down and out 20 yrs ago with crap products leaky bikes etc. Look at choppers came back for awhile now they are fading away again. Bobbers were comin back sort of but the only increase in sales are those new Enduro types like BMW R1200GS style.
-
You could turn that bike around in about the span of about 3 states.

I agree with WPREDOCK couldnt have said it better. I think there are 2 reasons your not seeing any advancements on the 2nd Gen. Either everything is great no need to make changes or a whole new bike is coming out (with the advancements many are asking for here) and why waste money on putting ABS, Fuel iinjection, MP3 on a bike (2nd Gen) that is going to fade into the susnet. I think the development of the V4 1800 is very telling. I dont think this advanced motor is going on one bike. I think that V4 1800 will be detuned and go into be in a whole new techno advanced design tourer. I was reading an article about future motorcycle designs and it was saying that Harley will have to start changing things (Hence the Vrod just the begining of the changes liquid cooled motor designed by a high tech company) since their average age owner is getting older and older and that they are ignoring a much larger motorcycle market that is younger and more interested in techno gadgets instead of basically old technology. That the market for classic motorcycles gets smaller every year that the classic look appeals to fewer and fewer each year. Harley sales are down the markets flooded with classic looking bikes of all manufacuters. So I think your going to see maybe in a couple years a trend away from the classic look and more toward the Goldwing/Concours look.

No biggie. Theres definitely more vibration at idle and low speed from new motor compared to the EVO but it smoothes out very nicely at speed. They also offer oil coolers which I would get with these big motors they get hot fast due to thier air cooling. Harley really has impressed me with their new motors (08) that is (07) programming was off. I forsee a day when they might have to go to the VRod type motor liquid cooling etc cause of the EPA they are just holding out for now. I really like their Road Glides but I love my 1st Gen to much but its in pieces now.

??????heres some info on the subject http://www.birminghamhog.co.uk/images/HeatinsertREV.PDF its a flash program called EITMS to shut fuel down to rear cylinder. I don't think I'm confused. 06 Harley's did not vibrate as much at idle as 08's do. Bike smooths out quickly once you give it throttle.
-
Those 08's are nice bikes. Did you have the cylinder shut off disabled? They vibrate alot when idling or slowwww speed if you have that activated. They then smooth out when both cylinders get going.

Make sure you use a relay when hooking up llights somene here has a diagram how to hook them up. I would use a waterproof switch. Recent trip to Memphis had a lot of rain ruined the switch lights would turn on even if I didnt want them on.

Is this for the digital ignition 90-93?

Led 1157 bulb ?
CrazyHorse replied to buddy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Depends on the type of LED you use. I use the Radientz 1.85 inch they are very bright day and night but you need one of those resistor things for LED that will make your warning light go out but if you use it I guess you have no advantage in electric savings. -
Solid engine mount question
CrazyHorse replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No it rode extremely well no high speed wobble. It would wobble at around 40 mph if I let the bars go on deceleration. It was a pleasure to drive until the crash. Now whole right side plastic needs to be replaced. I'm glad I mounted all 6 mounts more work but I'm glad I did it. -
Thats a pretty nice set you got there. I like to see expanding ones mind with ideas like this. Do you have any pictures that are further away to see how you run the lines etc?
