1st Gens are no better maybe if I had spiked tires. Thanks for the info. Just wish they would do this in November little better weather. I don't mind the cold so much as any snow melting from the sun and then freezing over night on the road especially in the area I live.

Another good alternative is Rick Butlers suggestion of using cartridge type springs. I cant remember the name of them off the top of my head. Squeeze has lots of good suggestions pm him.

This is an area I should check too (Swing arm) . I cant get grease into one of the nipples even after cleaning it out by removing it. Concerns me a little.

Theres also a hard plastic one I think called Deleron

Yes handling was improved on mine got rid of high speed wobble. It was the only thing that made a difference not fork brace or progressive springs etc. I would put them all in the hard one is the left rear one have to twist the motor pretty good to get it in. It was worth the pain to put them in.

Great cause but some of the roads around here with the state and so forth cutting back on salt wont be doing it.

Those things are scary in the wet and 50' of them is downright dangerous . Especially on a Hwy any slight change in direction of handlebars or speed on those plates and you can go down so fast nothin you can do.. Tar snakes on the road make me nervous in the wet or hot summer darn near almost got taken out by some the bigger ones here in Illinois.

F-15's have landed w/o wing Red Flag training if I remember right collided w/an F-5 also but they have large elevators and very high thrust to weight ratio as compared to most fighters. Actually its an Israeli pilot landing one. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h2UTap-c3E]YouTube - F-15 lands without a wing[/ame]

The plane looks really light and we dont know the horspower of the motor is. I knida doubted it when I first saw the video but then that guy running up at the end plane looks normal size. I need to look at the other youtube posts.
-
Thats what I originally thought the plane was a RC but at the end you see to guy running up to the plane and seems normal size. There have been some milltary jets that have lost wings in collisions and have landed but their power to weight ratio is high and thier elevators are big . Being a former pilot losing a wing is pretty much game over and it goes into a spin like a plane would without a wing. I got this in a email from a friend. Whats up with the virus thing? What virus is it.

I dont think R1/R6 calipers fit on a 1983 you would need 86-93 forks. Delinking is not that hard. The right side plastic has to come off side panel and fairing. Find the rear master cylinder and remove the brake line that runs to the front of the bike it snakes up all the way to neck of the frame. Now you can either keep or remove the proportioning valve if you keep it you need to plug the hole from where the front line came out of I believe its a 10mm x 1.25 pitch put a bolt in there with a copper washer if you want to remove it just attach the rear line the master cylinder. Your next decision is what type of connection do you want your front brakes to run off the master cylinder. Some people run the same front master cylinder and its fine. I used a GSXR600/750 master with an adjustable lever but you dont have a fluid level indicator anymore and your dash light will come on. Since I dont care about a fluid level I just tied the wires together to get the dash light to go out. Now you must decide on the front brake line set up either double banjo bolt which is what I did and recommend against or run one line and use a tee fitting mounted on the fork brace? (not sure what they call it its not the brace thats visible but high up under the fairing. Now I would use stainless steel lines now for all lines. The hardest part is getting the measurment right for each line (so you know what length lines to order) I used a string and you need to turn the handlebars to make sure you have enough extra line for movement of the handlebars. Parts you will need are 4 brake lines, t-fitting, 12 washers, I used goodyear lines and I had to buy fittings for each end of the line you'll need to figure out what angle of fitting you need. I believe they come in 0, 45, and 90 degrees. I also used speed bleeders which work great except when the line is brand new and full of air. I ended up using the regular bleeders till I got the line filled up with fluid and then switched to speed bleeders which make bleeding a breeze. PM if you need help.

Really, it wouldnt surprise me.

Living in a rural area myself gravel along the edge of roads is a fact of life. Sometimes the gravel gets onto the road from cars leaving the roadway kicking up the gravel. In fact in my area they spray oil on the road and coat the entire road with gravel with the weight of the cars packing into the road. I'm not sure your gonna win a lawsuit.

Well said being a former pilot and knowing a few fellow pilots that are no longer amongst the living because of those truths you quoted and nearly being killed myself while flying a couple times those words couldnt be truer. (Especially #4 wishing you were on the ground thing not a good feeling when you would like to panic but know the only thing thats gonna save you is landing the plane. #9 a good statement just for living life. Learn from the mistakes of others. I think so many people forget this in everyday life. That being said watch this. The most remarkable flying I've ever seen. Progressive springs on eBay
CrazyHorse replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Bought mine at MAW also were fine. -
I once saw a guy on ebay maybe he's from here, maybe not, had a buy it now price of $10,000 for a 1st Gen I think it was an 86. I just had to type him and ask him if Elvis owned it and was plated with gold. He wasnt to happy about my question. Bike sold a couple of auctions later for around 5-6 grand still to much in my eyes.
