That looks like the one that goes to the bottom of the airbox its for the crankcase breather system. Pain in the butt to put on. There a plastic nipple on the bottom of the airbox to put it on. So you have a vacuum leak if thats not put on.

He's a good man that Squeeze. Are your carbs properly seated in thier boots? Is the Airbox properly attached to the carbs ? The airbox lid locked down? etc. -

The nipple is below #2 carb between the #2 and #1 carbs as in my picture above. Now if thats not there then someone has put a different set of non-California carbs on there. Squeeze knows alot about what percentage of the different parts of the carb contibute to the fuel delivery. The pilot mainly does idle mixture and little more than that. Still 4 1/2 turns seems like alot unless you have some sort of air leak somewhere. Where's Squeeze when you need him? -

Man I'm lost on this one. Was the cannister just disconnected? Where are the air screws? Do you mean the pilot mixture screws? Here are some pictures where the Cannister hooks to the #2 Carburator. The screwdriver shows the tube to the carb from the cannister. You sure you were rich maybe you were lean with an air leak into the #2 carb from the cannister disconnected. 4 1/2 turns of the pilot mixture seems like alot. -
They ram it down our throat here in Illinois. I live in farm country west of Chicago corporations/farmers get large subsidies for it.

I did the mod with lowering the needles using 2 brass washers on the bottom of the c clip and 2 on top while removing the plastic spacer. I used the original 1983 needles which have 5 adjustment levels compared to my 1990 non-adjustable needle. I set the needles originally to the highest setting mileage was terrible at 25 mpg smelled rich and stumbled off the line. I then lowered them to the lowest set position #5 I'll call it and used the 2 brass washers on bottom 2 above the cclip to make the needle stay in position. Mileage is 41-45 mpg (used to be 37mpg) if I take it easy and now seems to have more power if I want to crank it (as compared to the original 1990 needles). The 1983 needles have a much more aggressive taper to them then 1990 needles for high speed runs. Ill take a picture comparing the 2.

The ABS is nice to have on wet roads. Your mileage should be close to 45-50 mpg after she broken in.

How does this work together? I have a Zumo550 and a Nolan helmet looking to do the Bluetooth thing. Wondering what the cable does?

How old is the brake fluid if its really old you could have a bunch of fluid crystals in there gumming things up. -
I Want Two Front Calipers
CrazyHorse replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Whats trac braking? Do you mean linked braking? Its not to hard but you would be better off with a set of 86+ forks so you could put on blue star R1 or R6 calipers. -

Have you replace a coil on your RSV?
CrazyHorse replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Does Dyna make coils for these bikes? Would they be any better? -
I think if we had fuel injection on these bikes we would have different mpg's for the better. Riding with friends 1 with GW, 1 with BMWK1200 LT and me I'm getting in 30's mpg the GW getting bout 42 mpg's (1800 CC's) BMW 45 mpg's. They both get irritated with my bike where they can go so much further w/out stopping. Goldwings have had fuel injection since 1985. 24 years later Yamaha still cant have fuel injection? Come on. I myself are getting tired of carbs now I'm getting in the 20-30 mpg range something with the carbs or I'll have to check the coils/spark etc.

The Best Fuel

If I could find a gas with no ethenol I would use it no matter the octane. Higher octane has done nothing for me but pure gas can. -

Replacing 1st Gen handlebars which I hated gave me terrible tendonitus in both elbows. 1. I used Kawasaki Voyager adjustable bars. (no more tendonitous much more comfortable) 2. Delinking brakes 3. Solid motor mounts 4. Back rest
