    My house.

From the album: Other than the bike

  2. I know, I know!!!!! The last year was like a BLUR! Buying the house, having so many pottery orders, doing all the upkeep that the yard and the house required! The prior owners were pretty lazy.... But I'm feeling good about where I'm sitting now, and will be able to enjoy gardening, pottery, AND riding the bike this year! Today is actually my one year anniversary of buying the house!
  3. Ooooh, me too! VStar 1100. Just took it out today.
  4. Oh man, did I miss something???????????????????????
  5. I was REALLY careful! I was just going to ride over to Kalona and back just to stretch the legs, but then I headed north and went to Iowa City and took the long way home on the old highways. It was GREAT!!!! And yes, when I was passing the casino and highway exit ramps people tried to pull out in front of me twice!!!! Oh well. I was ready for it. Happy and safe riding to EVERYONE!
  6. OK, so the bike is cleaned up, and the battery is charging courtesy of a friend down the road. Now, I just have to find my riding gear! Man, I haven't been out here for a LONG time! How is everyone?
  7. Hey Girl! How's it going?????? I've been out of contact for a while, but always enjoy getting your emails!

  8. Thanks all for being excited for me! Nope, I didn't take the pictures. I got them all from the realtor. I'm planning on taking more when I go through the house with the inspector. The upstairs 1/2 story is all open with window nooks and stained glass windows. I can't wait to paint it with all the nooks and slanted ceilings... And yes, there WILL be a meet and eat in the summer... Plenty of room to park bikes in the garage and driveway. Bogie would love to meet all of you! Wildhair - I think it will be tough, but I'm sure I can get used to having a garage. I need to put some more insulation up in the ceiling. It had a new roof in '03, but they didn't replace the insulation. Stardbog, do you wire pottery kilns???? That purchase is still a way off, but darn it would be nice to not have to haul my pottery into town to have it fired! AND, the best part is that I will have room to park trailers/trucks/bikes, whatever... If anyone is passing through and needs a place to crash! I expect lots of folks to visit Trek Fest in the summer (Riverside is the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk)! The upstairs is practically begging for an art easel and some oil paints. I think I'll have to add oil painting to my pass-times! --Courtney
  9. Doh! I missed this! I love free beer!
  10. So I have lived in a mobile home park for the last few years and really decided it was time to get out and make the big plunge to buy a house. I was especially motivated when two weeks ago some folks that I assume to be ex or current hispanic gang members (due to their tattoos) moved in next door. I had already been approved for financing, but I suppose I just was a little scared to take this big step. That is, until I found the PERFECT house. I put in an offer Thursday morning, there was another offer that came in by noon, I put in a counter-offer and I got it! Folks, this house is perfect for me. It has a cottage-feel and would be entirely inspiring creatively. It has a two car heated garage - PERFECT for my pottery studio, and also storing the bike! The yard is already fenced in. So basically Bogie and I could move right in and be perfectly happy, warm, and safe. Now, I still have to go through the inspection process so I'm hoping nothing horrible turns up with that. I've attached some pictures of it!
  11. I certainly think so!
  12. This works for me all the time: Get a book on tape/CD relating to meditation. I can download them for free from the Iowa City public library.... It never fails. If I try to concentrate on meditating, it puts me to sleep.... Thich Nhat Hanh is very good.... Buddhist meditations. Or Howard Zinn (I think it's Howard).
  13. Ummm, I don't have any parts, and I'm not sure how I would do with mechanics, but I can sure sign the hell out of any seat!
  14. OMG! This is what I hate to read when I check the board. I have a HUGE special place reserved in my heart for you two.... I hope you guys are OK!
  15. I'm LOVING it! Except for the fact that it's in my mom's garage right now.... I had a TON of pottery to get done before and after the holidays, and then the Cabo Trip in November... Then the holidays. It's been crazy.... I just haven't been doing much on the computer. I bet a lot of folks here are ready for SPRING!
  16. I am SOOOO Jealous! That looks like a lot of fun!
  17. I got home from the holidays and finally was able to catch the managers at the mailroom today so I could get a package that I got a notice for...... And it was a VentureRider gremlin bell! I cannot WAIT to put it on the VStar. Thank you so much Black Owl for thinking of me.... I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Happy New Year to everyone! --Courtney
  18. It's very sad to see posts like this, and no way to make sense of it. My thoughts are with your family, Sherry.
  19. Dennis --- Tucker was a lucky dog to have found you. I'm sure you gave him a great life, and he did the same for you in return. It's especially sad to lose a pet (I'm biased towards dogs) because they are so innocent and loyal. They are just happy to be in the family! As time goes by and you start remembering all of the funny things that Tucker did that made him Tucker, you should read the book, Marley and Me. You will laugh out loud many times, and also cry a couple of times, but it is a great book about a yellow lab.
