learning more on V STAR 1300 2007
Bret in Houston replied to mikesmold's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Many have gone with RSTD bars or other after markets bars. I had the RSTD bars put on mine at the dealer before it had a mile on it, love them... The RSTD bars do not require cable changes. Good luck, let me know if you want to discuss... -
For those bolts that are extremely long or special try BoltDepot.com, they are great. Needed a 10mm X 200mm bolt for my Virago, and could not find it anywhere here in Houston. Finally someone turned me on to Bolt Depot and wahlah!!! Bret

Hey Wes, It won't last very long in Mississippi, so enjoy the beauty while you can. Those are some beautiful pictures.

I say congrats on the new ride, ride what you like and like what you ride... Just keep the shiny side up.

I bought my 2008 VStar 1300 Tourer from them last March. Good to do business with at least for me and got a good deal. Call them direct and talk with Wally - Sales Manager ask for their bottom dollar - can't hurt.

Is that patch still available? If so, where can I get one?

This sure was a mind numbing read, but it appears she made an excellent choice of birthdays... I paid and the laughter provided here is worth the price of admission... Only 40 posts, I guess I enjoy reading...:cool10:

Welcome to Houston and to Texas, good thing you did not show up a couple of weeks ago the Temp and humidity would have sent you looking elsewhere. Again welcome, from a transplanted Badger.

How many has plugged your car/truck tire ?

Clive, Dyan Plugs get my vote. Check them out for yourself at http://www.dynaplug.com/ -
Saw a man with a Chihuahua in Bacliff, TX this past weekend. She (the dog) is 6 yrs old, had on a pink shirt, with pink helmet and goggles. He said she has done 40,000 miles with him. He had on bib overalls, he pulled the top of the bib out and dropped her in with her head under his chin and off they went. Pretty simple if you and your dog can each tolerate the arrangement.

I had a new E3 on the rear of my Virago. 1/2" roofing nail in the tread area within 3000 miles of new, the nail was an effective plug while in place I tried Ride-on by their instructions and it would not seal. So, I was about 3 miles from home, I put the nail back in the hole and then proceeded home at a snail's pace. I found the Dyna Plugs on line and read up on them. I went to harbor freight and bought the Dyna Plugs and rode it that way for 10k miles. The rear maintained its air pressure as well or better than the front which did not have any repairs. You could breakdown the tire and inspect the carcass and then install the Dyna Plug, with a 1/2" roofing nail it was not possible to have carcass damage other than the hole which was plugged. The Dyna Plugs have a vulcanizing agent on them and the repair is solid. As stated earlier, YMMV.

Is this a beautiful country or what. Enjoyed the pics, thanks for sharing...

Hey Squidley, What part of Houston are you going to land in? Already got the job lined up? Hope things work out for you, it is pretty much year round riding here with the exceptions of the occasional flood and hurricane. We've been here since 93, I am a native midwesterner and the wife a Native Texan. Anyway, good luck with the move. PM me when you are going to be here to unload and I will work on getting it in my schedule.

June 15th, did you ride to work today?
Bret in Houston replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
But I do, nearly everyday. There has to be extremely high probability for rain 70-100%, before I cage it. 4600 miles on new VStar since, early May. My therapist has 2 wheels you see. -
Does anyone have a 2nd Gen Trunk with the backrest attached, which they are looking to get rid of? Let me know what it would cost me. Thanks, Bret
