I think we all should ride it on our RSV's !!! We could have a M&E at the top!! Maybe even a maintenance day!! Just need different tires. Goldwings would be better suited for this though. Since there's no place to turn around and it has a reverse, at least you could back it all the way down. But then again, getting down isn't the problem. Is it???

Any ideas how to remove a stripped Allen bolt?
Kirby replied to Color01's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I have to agree with all that's been said above. Having worked in a maintenance environment for the better of 40 years, I found these a few years ago that work really well for removing broken socket head cap screws as well as allen head srews. http://metalworking.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXNO=4759264 They worked so well that over time I started making my own from broken apex drivers. The principle is that they are tapered so they will tighten up if driven deeper into the striped head. Then you use a socket or sometimes even a cresent wrench to remove the screw. -
Down here in south GA we'd have to have air conditioning in the summer. I imagine it would get pretty hot in there even in the winter on a sunny day!!!

Just hope that the way our laws are written these days you don't wind up being sued for the dog bite!!!!!

This is just my opinion but, I think since the dealers went to this Powersports Networking thing, they've about all but cut their own throats!! IMHO

Man, now that's a ride!!! It sure sounds like a lot of fun. One day I'm going to do something similar. Ride safe and keep the shiney side up!!

Sorry 'bout that! I have gone back and corrected that problem ,I think! I tried calling the place of business the other day but all I could get was a recording. They must really be short-handed. Thanks anyway.

Man, today was a beautiful day for riding. I took "Big Gal" out for about 150 miles and then took "Max" out for about 40 miles. Talk about "night and day"! Max really likes to stretch his legs. Today was the first time I've had the Vmax out in a couple of months. BTW, yesterday I changed the fuel filter on "Big Gal". While I was in there I relocated the filter up under the seat. It was a real PITA to get to in the original location. Pics below. Before and after relocating filter.

I can't remember who it was, but last September, I think, we had a M&E in Savannah, GA at The Crab Shack. Someone there had their bike done this way. Can't remember who it was though. Might be a picture of it somewhere on this site. Hope this helps.

I use to use Fram oil filters and never had any kind of problems with them. However since joining this website I've learned (or hope I've learned) a little bit more about the way different filters are made. Since I bought my 09 last summer I've quit using Fram. Not for any other reason than several websites stating that they were of poor quality. I used a couple of PureOne's, but now I'm currently using the SuperTech from Walmart. Just because it's conveniently right there where I buy my oil and most of the websites say that it's one of the better quality filters. Probaly nothing that bad wrong with the Fram, I 'm just going on the opinion of some of the more "experienced" on this website. Don't let me down guys!!!

Yea!!!! Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!!

I just went out and checked the date on the Kumho that I removed. It was 5108. Pretty close, huh? I had the wobble.
-
Hey ya'll that's a good idea. I went back to the mc tire after trying to get the wobble out but never did. I had already put around 1500 miles on it but couldn't get it to work out. That was back in December. Anyway I went back to the mctire and the wobble went away with it. I really wanted this to work but it just didn't. I didn't say anythong about it on here because I didn't want to dicourage anyone else from maybe getting in on a good thing. I'll look at the date on the tire tomorrow and see what the date was and post it here. There may be something to this "bad batch". These tires were pretty cheap in price anyway, so maybe I got one of the worst ones!! Something to think about.

That's just the way she is. Why?? Why is she like that? Maybe it's because of your relationship!!! Why???
-
I left for awhile. Just thought I would check back and see if you guys were still here. I don't know why I left. Better yet, I don't know why I came back. WHY???

Yea, the best part about a bad situation is when it's over. Glad you got it out!!

Give me about 6 more years. I've got 17,000 since last June.

Under no circumstances use any kind of electric drill(cord or cordless) for this process!!! I know that Cougar knows better, just wanted to make sure everyone knows this!!!!!

Thanks, that's a good idea, for next time!

:clap2:Just call me McDonald's 'cause "I'm lovin' it"!

I put 6 holes in mine last fall. Used a very sharp punch and a big ball pean hammer. Be sure to cover the tank with something in case you slip and miss the punch. Oh yea, might be a good idea to wear gloves too!! Haven't got all my thumbnail back yet! Now I can fill her all the way up and go farther between fillups. Before this was done I was going about 150-160 miles before having to go to reserve. Now I'm going about 180-200 miles before having to go to reserve. And yea, I was scared to death about getting a spark when doing this. Probably why I hit my thumb, TWICE!!!!!Funny now, wasn't funny then.

Yea, right!
