This is written to inform any of you who may want to visit Callawy Gardens, Ga on a motorcycle. My wife has wanted to visit this pplace for a long time so we loaded up last Friday and rode over there expecting to see all the beautiful flower and fauna that this place is so famous for. After a trip of near 150 miles we pulled up to the gate and I jokingly asked the attendant what all we could see here other than flowers. To which she replied, "We don't allow motrcycles in the park!" We were shocked and asked why. The answer was "It's against the rules!" She suggested we could get off and walk through the park and my wife responded "No thanks!" So this is to let anyone who doesn't know already that motorcycles are not allowed. Anyway we didn't let that ruin our 3 day weekend. We rode 1100 miles in northern GA before returning home and spent our money elsewhere. I don't know yet if this is a state funded park, but if it is, someone's going to hear about this. I pay a lot of taxes every year to the state of Georgia. All in all we had a great weekend in north GA.

Probably a moped!!! No seriously, a Goldwing or a good used Valkarie. After that, might strap on some bags to a new VMAX!!!

Hey Earl I don't have anything ordered or have you working on anything of mine, but hope you get to feeling better real, real soon. Maybe you need to get out and ride around the block a time or two. That seems to always make me feel better. Seriously though, take care of yourself and hope you get back to your old self soon!! Meanwhile, I'll take and extra cruise around the block for you. Ha Ha

Not trying to hijack this thread or anything, I'd just like to know if this model has a good seal against foul weather? Has anyone had any problems of the contents getting wet when riding in the rain????Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I use my bike daily as my primary form of transportation. About the only thing I can't do with it is haul off the trash, for that I use my old pickup. I bought this bike last June and it now has almost 20,000 miles on it. It'll probably have 22,000 by the time I've had it a year. I wear whatever I'm dressed in for the day+ helmet.

Yea, but even the Harley folks don't accept the V-Rod as a Harley!!! Even though, if I had to buy one, that'd be it. It's probably the best engine HD has ever had built.

Glad to hear you recovered OK. I got through a wobble once and was sore for a couple of days afterward.

Dirty Harry said,"A man's gottas know his limitations!" Now if you had been on a Vmax.., but then again, you have to be sure there were no curves involved. You gotta pick your fights..., er, races!!

No H2O problemo in any kind of rain!!

Forget the Conti Tour TK17 . I just tried one and only have only about 4000 miles on it and it is worn out! I thought it was going to be a good purchase too. My advice, forget it!!! Too soft rubber.

Last Thursday night while riding home from work, I had the misfortune to try to occupy the same space on the road with a deer. Didn't get hurt too bad, just a sore leg for a couple of days. Bike, not so lucky. Maybe it's just a fender and wind deflector. Front tire might need to be replaced also, fender rubbed pretty hard. All this happened about a mile from home so I was able to ride on home. I wasn't going but about 55 mph when I saw the deer about 100 feet on the left running to my right. It had been raining earlier and the road was still wet. As I hit the brakes, I could feel the rear tire slide, so I knew I couldn't lock up the front or I would be going down. Good thing he wasn't jumping up in the air or it would have been a lot worse. The front tire caught him square in the mid-section and threw him like a ragdoll for about 25 feet. I don't think he even slowed down. I managed to control the stop and remained upright. As I was stopping I heard a swishing sound and thought he had punctured my radiator. Thinking that being the case, I told myself I'd better try to make it on home before "Big Gal" ran hot. As I eased on toward the house I began to smell rubber and realized it wasn't my radiator but the front fender rubbing the tire. Anyway to make a long story short, I asked Carl(MiCarl) to give some kinda figures to give to the insurance company. He did, and for that I am in his debt. Thanks again Carl. I'm suppose to meet with the adjuster tomorrow morning and hash this out. Wish me luck!! I've included a few of the pics. At first thought the left fork was bent, but now not so sure. Is there any way to be sure other than tearing it down? I pulled a string down the centerline of the fork and can't see any noticeable damage. Anyway, I pulled the cover off my Vmax and put it over "Big Gal" . Told "Max" "It just you and me again for awhile, old boy".

I work with hydraulic lines everyday and I wouldn't trust one any further than I could throw it!! All it takes is one bad line to burst!!

Thanks for the update. I ordered one for the back of my bike today. The Continental I put on recently has about 4,200 miles and it is worn out!!! Won't go that way again!

All of the above!!! But if you still want to use a twist drill bit , start small, then finish it with the right size reamer.

I'm looking for a good half helmet to go with my '09 RSV which is what they call Seashell/Raven color. I've already got a black helmet so I really don't want another of that color. Has anyone on here seen anything that might be of interest to me??? I saw an AFX FX-7 that was black and gold. It looked pretty good but don't know about the AFX brand. Need input.

Never went to Viet Nam, but served 12 years in Ga Army National Guard from 1982-1994. Kept one in my pocket until about 5 years ago. Great tool.
