A word of caution about graphite. Use only a very little in an ignition switch!! If you use too much it will pack in and you will make your switch totally useless!!! Don't ask me how I know this. An ignition switch with a chip in it is expensive!!!

I have a 2 piece set of Nelson-Rigg AX-1, I think , that I had for 3 years now and between the 2 bikes I've put 54,000 miles on with no problems. They keep you dry and the coat doubles as a wind breaker when the weather turns cool. If they were to get damaged today I'd buy another set or something very similar, but I would definitely look at Nelson-Rigg first!!

New E3 Tires, New Problem
Kirby replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've been reading all the posts and everyone seems to have asked all the right questions. It's kinda hard to tell about the bushings that the clutch pins ride in but, are they all pressed in equally?? Looks like some may need to go a little bit deeper?? Like I say it's kinda hard to see in the pictures. Also , what's this in the enclosed picture? Looks like a piece of metal from a bearing cage?? -
So what's the camera guy riding?

My '09 has 25,000 miles on it and it's only 13 months young!! No problems so far.

This is me on the left, Kirby aka Travelin Man and Dan, a friend and coworker who rode up with me to MD. I've been trying to get him to go ahead and join us since we now have a Wingnut section. He rides an '06 titanium GW. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20MD%202010/IMG_8494.jpg

Well Dan and I made it back to south Ga about 1:30 this afternoon(Monday). We drove up in one day but took 2 to come back. Stopped off and saw a couple of sites along the way. Had a great time for the 2 days we were at Don's. Learned a lot about the bikes and the people that ride the bikes!I'd like to echo what a lot of others have already said. Thanks to Don and his wife Eileen for putting up with this crazy group of friends, brothers, and sisters. You are all the greatest!! I enjoyed meeting as many of you as I did. I hope we can all do this again next year.

Hey guys, I've been looking for a link telling about a young girl on the back of a GSXR 750 that fell off and stayed in thew hospital for several months. This was posted within the last week. Can any of you give me the link? I can't seem to find it.

Believe it or not , I actually had a bee fly around me the other day while cleaning my windshield and front end with Pledge!! I swatted at him and he left. Most legends and myths are founded on someone's idea of the facts!!

Hey Boomer, if it works, don't worry about mounting it. just use duct tape or zip ties until you get to Don's. We'll take care of it there!! You're one character I just gotta meet. I think it'll be kinda like going to a circus or a zoo!!:rotf::rotf::rotf:

Running rough-Electrical?????
Kirby replied to jkmorey's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My VMAX did the same thing once when I would get caught in a rainstorm. After all I did , I found that the coils were cracked. Replaced them, no more problem. If there's any water at all in the float bowls, it may idle and come up slowly but when you whack it open, the water "bubble" will be sucked up and block the main jet! -
Spark plug apperance question

Gonna go out on a limb here and give my 2 cents worth. I'm assuming the insulator is a light tan, like others have said it's really hard to judge by pics. Since it was after a low speed ride and pulling into the garage, and there's no evidence of any kind of blistering, and the insulator isn't real white, and the electrode isn't burned back or fouled, I'd say you are pretty much good to go. I'd do a normal to brisk ride and check them again. If they come out the same you'll probably be OK.
