Looks easy enough and still looks original. Great job!! Let us know how it worked out.

Buddy, PM sent.

No ya'll, I didn't make the risers themselves. I drilled and tapped the risers that I bought off of Ebay and made the "dummy bars" that keep the cushions in the original place. Sorry ya'll . The second picture shows the "dummy bar" in the same location as the handlebars were before installing the risers.
-
Buddy, if you are referring to me, yes I did make them. I took a piece of aluminum round stock and turned it down, drilled, and counterbored them. I also had to drill and tap the risers so the "dummy" bars would be in the exact same place for the rubber cushions to remain in their original locations.

I have had the 1.5 inch risers on mine since last June and they work fine. You will just have to remove the rubber grommet from underneath the chrome cover. This will let the cover, which is just as much plastic as the black ones are, move a little more freely. Be forwarned, you may have to fiddle with your cables, handlebars, and control units to keep enough slack in the cables without them binding at full lock. Also , you may need to do something to keep the fairing dampeners in place so the fairing won't vibrate and possibly cause so unforseen damage there. Below are a few pictures of what I did. I didn't like it too well at first because the risers hit the chrome cover but I got use to it and now I wouldn't have it any other way. Do a search on risers on this website and you will find a lot more. Good luck!! Attached Thumbnails

Ok guys, if you need a new rear tire, or are going to need a new tire in the near future you better get it ordered. As I have stated many times before, I always check with Motorcyclesuperstore first when thinking about ordering something. Well, today I got an email about a sale they were having on tires so I thought well maybe I'd get a better deal than the last(which was pretty good 130.99, I thought) which was an E3 rear for Biggal. To my surprise the sale price was 141.99!!! I thought this had to be a mistake so I called them up and they confirmed that price. When asked if I wanted to order I said no. Hung up the phone and checked Jake Wilson and they have the same tire for 130.99. So I guess the oil prices are beginning to affect everything else. Like I said, if you need or gonna need a new tire soon Jake Wilson has the best deal right now. They may even be higher in a few days!!!!!

Here's what they look like on the bike.

There's a set on Ebay for $60 bucks plus shipping. This is what I got. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-1-5-Handlebar-Risers-Venture-/190511724740?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5b6238c4

This is what I found to mount my reflectors with. They need to be 3/4 inch inside diameter by 1 inch outside diameter measured at the bottom of the groove.
-
Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get 4 rubber grommets to use to adapt the reflector to the smaller rail. If I were at home I could send you a pic. Maybe later tonight.

:mustache:Sears doesn't "make" anything. They tell the manufacturer to put on a different color paint,a label here and there, maybe change the wheels. I work in a lawnmower factory. There are very few differences between Poulan, Craftsman, Husqvarna, Jonesred, Weedeater, or Partner, just to name a few. They all come down the same assembly line. Powder coated painting covers a lot!!! JFYI

I use my RSV for everything but hauling off the trash. If I have to be somewhere really fast, I take the VMAX! It's my "little" bike!!!

I was just thinking about the 2 machines we have where I work. But I don't think the "higher ups" would go for it! Anyway you could order .437 thick by 1.5 inch material, grind off .020, wire burn, and finish in a mill to get the lobe. Material this thin will wire burn a lot faster than you think. I had just been following your discussion and thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. I'll go back to my corner now. -

Have any of you guys thought about getting this done on an EDM machine? Then doing the cam lobes as a secondary operation on the mill? Of course you'd have to use plate material instead of bar material. -
Glad to hear the good news. Can't wait to hear the details. Keep us posted.

I've ran Shinko Tour Masters on my Vmax for a couple of sets in the last 3-4 years and haven't ever seen this on any that I've used. They just wear out really fast. I believe this is the same tire that used to be called Yokohama. Not a bad tire company, just a bad tire. You get a lemon from all manufacturers from time to time. That's why you have people that swear by them and you have people that swear at them!!!Just my:2cents: worth.

Drain the carb bowls again to determine if there is any contamination in them. Catch relased fuel in a clean container. If there is, pull the tank and clean it out. Look for water in the fuel also. If nothing is found, it sounds like there is one or more of your main jets stopped up. The bike will idle just fine but won't take the gas when you raise the rpms. Once you've eliminated all possible fuel problems, move on to the electric possibilities. I got a bad tankful of gas once and the same thing happened to me. It got so bad it wouldn't even start. The attached photo is just a sample of what I got out of the bottom of the tank. Mostly water.

You are very fortunate. I have four biscuit eaters!!!

To be completely honest with you, the first time you ride the RSV it will feel HEAVY, which it is. At a stop this will be the most noticeable thing about it. Once you start to move though everything changes. The bike will instantly lose several hundred pounds. On the open road, I personally don't think there's a more comfortable bike out there, even a Wing. The biggest thing you'll have to remember is not to let this bike's size make you think it's not up to the job. It put's out a lot of horsepower and it's all in the right hand! Forget about the weight and just twist the throttle. As far as passenger comfort, it can't be beat! My wife rides with me alot and has a hard time of staying awake! Find a dealer near you that has one and ask to test drive it, but don't go just around the block. At least 30 miles!!! You won't be disappointed. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'd say so. Leave it alone!!

Very nice ride you got there!!!
