Thanks you guys for all your input on this. If I go with some variation of Linux, I may have to give you a call Patricia. I already have 2 other computers at home so if things don't work out for me I'll just wipe it all and start again. I'm going to a little more research though before I pull the trigger on this. Thanks all

Thanks Rick, I was hopin you would anwer up. I had read on here before that you were into IT and you knew something about the different OS's. I've got an old HP that the harddrive failed in but the rest of the hardware(mobo, powersupply, processor) have all been replaced in the last year and worked fine until the hd died. I just wanted to give it a try and see if a new harddrive with a completely new os would bring me more satisfaction or more heartache. Any more advice??

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with a motorcycle but here goes anyway. Do any of you use Linux or one of the variations of Linux Os on your computers? I'm putting together a system and would like to know what to expect. Is it hard to set up and maintain? I'm just tired of paying "taxes" to Microsoft all the time. I'm looking for something different. As far as my knowledge of computers, I'm not a computer nerd, but I'm also not computer illiterate. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Just hold down the "select" button for at least 2 seconds to bring up the clock. Hold down both "select" and "reset" buttons for at least 2 seconds to set or reset the clock. So simple a caveman can do it!!

I've got an 09 and like everyone else, one key fits everything plus one spare key. You should also have a stamped coded tag so that you can have other keys made if needed. Mine also came with the CD player as standard.

Don, you are married to very special lady, but I don't have to tell you that, you already know it!! I've only met her twice, those times at your last two MDs. From what I saw there, and the way you tell about her taking care of the ones she loves, there is something very special about her. I wish her, her family, and all those that she tries to care for all the best. I will be praying for you both. Keep your chin up brother, tomorrow's another day. -

Check local restrictions!! Some states don't allow extremely high bars. -
I had to have my front fender replaced after hitting a dear last year. I went to Bikebandit.com and got one. Make sure your forks, front tire, and rim aren't damaged, also check the lower fork wind deflectors. Good luck!!

I bought a Ram mount for mine. The unit is somewhat reliable. I've had mine a couple of years and haven't had any problems to complain about except I wish it had another option as to reaching your destination. You have to choose fastest or shortest route. Fastest works most of time, but includes any type of road that will get you there fastest. Shortest distance may send you down a goat trail. It kinda makes for a little excitement, use caution when using this mode. You may suddenly find yourself cutting across a corn field like I did once!!! All in all, I'm not going to throw it away, mainly 'cause I can't afford a high-end unit yet!!

Is this going to be attempted by one rider or a group of riders??????? I really don't think one rider could do it.

One other very important fact to include also is that our bikes are water cooled. If properly maintained, the engines will last longer and run cooler.

Come to south Georgia and then you will really appreciate temps in the 80's. Oh yea, humidity is a killer down here as well. What ya'll need up north is a good crop of knats to go along with all the other stuff. They're so thick here at times you can sling a quart jar around your head and catch a gallon!!!!:rotf::rotf::rotf:

I've had one that I bought from Tractor Supply for a couple of years now. Works good for me although I removed the rubber tread shortly after I got it and installed some longer flat pieces on top of it. I wasn't comfortable with the short tread plates.
