Thanks. Not sure why I have this very strong urge to put the bike back to stock. Maybe I have OCD. Some of the bolts holding on the luggage are not OEM either. Pisses me off.

My 2007 RSV doesn't have a tool kit. Looking at this as a replacement http://www.jcwhitney.com/CRUZTOOLS-ROADTECH-TOOL-KITS/GP_2015279_N_111+20000110+600014236_10111.jcw How does this compare with the OEM kit?

Update: I am no Owen or anyone else that has good results with rattle can paint. It looked like crap. Waited 5 days and tried to sand the milky out. Still wasn't dry. Just too much humidity down here right now. (That's my story anyway.) Just going to let a professional do it. I am too picky for me to do it.

Thanks for the tip highwayman. If, I can find someone to do it. A friend suggest we do it but, I am really not excited about adding locksmithing to my list of talents. Check, file, check, file....yuck.

I contacted him. He purchased luggage without keys. I called one locksmith and he said he couldn't do it. Thanks. I'll try so more. Last choice...dealer.

I have locks on the saddlebags and trunk for my 07 RSV but, I do not have the key. These bags were installed after the bike had been wrecked. Can these be rekeyed? Or, locks purchased that match the ignition?

Guess I'll keep looking. Waterproof is a must have. I rarely, if ever, plan to ride in the rain but, pop up storms in the summer are always a possibility. If I can stop, put the GPS safely away before I continue in the rain, I probably didn't need it to begin with . Oh yea, the weather and traffic option would be nice. All for less than $500.

I am guessing a bad batch or very poor handling during shipment. I have used Winchester for years. 44 mag (Desert Eagle) 9mm, 45acp, 357 with no issues. But, there are plenty others. Of course, ammo was hard to find for awhile so, I even bought some Wolf. Dirty but, still no issues.

Thanks. I have the paint and clear coat from color rite so, I'll give it a shot. Worse case scenario, I take it to a professional if this doesn't work out. Oh, and welcome to GA V7Goose.

Is it true the 550 doesn't output bluetooth mp3s in stereo?

Put in 10w40 instead of 20w40
660grizz replied to 04Midnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
10w30 or 20w40. Spread is just too wide in 10w40. Better than not changing it though. Not many manufacturers recommending 10w40 anymore. -
Awesome! Thanks for the quick responses.

Thank you sir. I thought you should sand between color coats too. However, this FAQ on Color Rite's site has me confused. Q. Can I sand between color coats? A. NO! Do not sand between color coats. The result will be disastrous at best. The paint actually bonds with the clearcoat when it is drying. This bond is what makes the paint cure. If sanding is done between coats, the clearcoat will not bond correctly and the paintjob will be effectively ruined. What does sanding between color coats have to do with clear coats?

Nice job Owen. Apparently, you are the man I need to talk to. My Midnight edition's trunk is a different color than the rest of the bike. It is a dark color but not black. Kinda like the 2008 color. I have ordered the colorite Yamaha black and some clear coat. Can I get away with scuffing up the paint and apply the black to that? If so, with 800 grit? Paint should be here tomorrow and I really want to get this fixed. It is a beautiful bike and some folks don't notice the trunk until I point it out. Now, it just bugs me. Thanks for any advice.
