I bet its gonna be pretty close to the design of the Gen 1's. You can tell by looking at the spy photos that its a fixed fairing bike. Not like the Gen 2's. It might not have the sport touriness (I invented a new word) of the gen 1's, but its gonna have a fixed fairing like them, and the mosaic pics of the side bag does have some shapiness (another new word) of the pre-Gen2 Ventures. And, like the Gen 1's, it apparently is going to have some front edge technology stuff on it. We certainly love teh Gen 2's, but I think we can all agree that they didn't have leading edge technology on them like the Gen 1's did. Hopefully, this bike is going to have all we've ever wanted on a Yamaha full dresser. BL

Looks like an antenna sticking up from the corner of that trunk. BL

Hey Puc. Ya know, I was so caught up with reading Cheezy's post, I never noticed he called Tweeks ugly. What the???? Who in hells half acre does he think he is, calling a fair dame like Tweeks ugly? Little did he know when he met her, that he just ran across one of the great fair lady's of the all of the motorcycle world. Tweeks has seen and experienced more in her lifetime than any old Indian will experience in 10 lifetimes. And she's done it all with un-equalled reliability and class. I really hope you're gonna feel up to going to the unveiling! Be sure and take a lotta pics and some of your famous videos. BL

I guess Puc isn't looking at this thread anymore. BL

I was looking at the web for discussions others are having about the soon to be announced touring model from Yammy. I came across this thread on the Indian owners forum. Take a look at the 5th post down by Cheezyrider. Could this be talking about a certain beloved VR.org member? Lol. http://www.indianmotorcycles.net/threads/yamaha-to-announce-new-tourer-june-5th.170865/ Big Lenny

VAZ, Where are you getting all of these mosaics? I go on the Yamaha site, and all I'm seeing is the mosaic with the 4 headlights? Where is the one with the trunk, and the one with the half front with the mirror coming from? Just wondering. Big Lenny

Loehring, You might wanna check out the Yamaha Part Three thread. Big Lenny

Lookin again at those pics; those gotta be v-twins, right? With that single exhaust coming out of the rear jug. You'd think if it was a V-4, there'd be 2 exhaust, one coming outta each jug.
-
Steamer, I gotta tell ya; the only subtle changes I'm seeing is the silver paint. Oh, and the antenna. What subtle changes in that trunk are you talking about? Big Lenny

Just campin out in chat. Nobody's home..........

Ya know, as usual, Ole Puc brings up a good point. Somebody from our group needs to take one for the team and go to Lake George and get some relevant pictures of this machine. If I wasn't 21hrs and 8 states away, I'd sure as heck be there. Surely some of our members that are....let's say....within a few hundred miles from there would want to go put eyes on it for us. BL
-
Dang it! I have some more states to color in on my signature map, and now I can't remember how I did it the first time. Can somebody please let me know how to update my map? Thanks, BL

Here's a question: What if this really is an all new full boat Touring bike from Yamaha, and what if the name really is Journey? How is that gonna effect our wonderful website's "Venture"rider.org name? We will still be members of a site that represents an obsolete bike. I'm hoping the bike keeps the Venture name. Otherwise, how are we gonna draw new Journey owners to our group?

I agree with you Don. And as someone already stated on this thread, it might be called a Journey. Considering how many times that word was mentioned in the videos.

Mcompton, As for me and my wife, we wear all of the gear. I wear a Tourmaster vented jacket and Draggin Jeans. My wife wears a Firstgear vented jacket and dragging jeans. We both wear Nolan N43 helmets. I wear the chin bar, my wife is crazy claustrophobic and will sometimes wear the chin bar, and other times not. I always wear one of the 3 pair of high quality riding gloves. In the past few years, she has been wearing gloves as well. The first few years we had our bike, we wore half helmets, and most of times wouldn't wear a jacket or anything. I wore riding gloves, but my wife wouldn't. We really bought into the notion that bike riding should feel free and open as much as possible. Well, what changed all of that for us was, we were out riding one day and came upon a couple that was riding 2 up on a Goldwing. They were in a medium sweeper curve running about 50mph, hit some gravel that had been spilled out into the road from a driveway and went down. When we came upon them, it had just happened, and they were both kind of crawling around in the road moaning and the lady was weeping pretty loud. She was only wearing a short sleeved shirt, and her arm from the elbow up to the shoulder was bad. All of the skin had been ground off, and it was for lack of a better word, gross. The palms of her hands were blistered red from sliding on the road without gloves. The man jeans had been torn open from the knee down to his riding boot, and his leg was skinless and bleeding horribly. They were both wearing half helmets with no face protection, and his chin had taken a hard hit from the pavement and it was going to require reconstructive work. The whole scene shook us so much that we started from that point wearing the correct gear. Even when its hot. Yes, its miserable at times, but We've seen the alternative. It aint pretty. Big Lenny

Okay, I was just enjoying reading this thread without commenting, but ole Puc's post dragged me in. Of all the bikes that have been mentioned in this discussion, the Suzuki V-Strom might possibly be the best overall quality bike suggested. I never knew what a V-Strom was until many years ago, my cousin bought a 650 V-Strom. My wife and I went on a week long ride to San Antonio many years ago on our RSTD, and he and his wife went 2 up on that V-Strom with us. That dang thing stayed right with us with them both on it, and huge saddlebags attached. Since that ride, they have been all over the nation 2 up on that thing with zero problems. They've been to Colorado, Utah, AZ, NM, California, Washington state, The Smokys, etc... The 2009 650 V-Strom was the European bike of the year. His brother, my other cousin, bought a 1000 V-Strom, and he has ridden that bike all over the nation too. Those two guys riding those two V-Stroms convinced me there is a reason the V-Strom has such a fanatical following. Side note: The cousin that bought the 650 V-Strom years ago, purchased a new BMW R1200RT back in 2013, and he and his wife have been all over the country on that bike and he loves it to death. But, It has had a rearend go out (under warranty), and his cruise control module went out (under warranty). Even though he has the BMW, he prefers to ride the V-Strom for his daily and local rides. it now has 160K miles on it. The cousin that has the 1000 V-Strom has found a retrofit sport touring fairing that fits that bike. I think hes gonna buy that fairing and try it. Big Lenny

Ya know? This whole thing makes me ponder if Victory going out is the reason Yamaha decided to go ahead and fill that void by introducing a new touring bike? Because, it sure did seem like they had decided to move away from the touring market.
-
Yeah, that's the photo of the black bike I was mentioning in my other post. Wonder how much this new bike will look like that one. It looks like they have a faux cover over the fairing. But those passenger floor boards are identical to our current Venture/RSTD. Probably is a Yammy in that pic. Ive always wondered if Yamaha purposely leaked that pick.
-
MiCarl, I think your real close. But, I do think it'll have cruise control, and instead of a windshield like the RSTD has, it'll have a fairing, but probably not a trunk.
-
On thing that is of some concern to me is; none of the bikes in the video/s are an old Venture. All of them are non trunk bikes. Wonder if that means anything?
-
Wow! Its gonna be interesting to see if the new bike looks anything like the 2 black bikes in the spy pics that came out a couple years ago.
