  1. Or............no Venture at all.
  2. As for me, I like jazzy colors. Mine's Electric Red over Raven Black and I get quite a few compliments. The blue would be awesome. I like something different than everyone else has, and most people have........black. Here comes a bike, what color is it? Oh, its black. Here comes another one! Oh, its black too. Wait here comes ten in a group, lets check them out. Oh, they're all black. LOL. Black is an awesome color if you keep that sucker spotless, but if its a tad dirty, its doesn't have the kick like it should. Just my humble opinion.
  3. You know? How can a company be more out of touch with their customers wants and needs? It's no big secret that for years Yamaha fans have been anxiously waiting for the next upgrade for their beloved Venture. It's ridiculous! Yamaha continues to sit around and sit around and basically give the middle finger and ignore the voices of their loyal customers. They stopped making the RSTD last year, and that's fine with me, but what do they do to give buyers a solid choice in that bagger segment? They throw a last minute looking fairing on a freaking Stratoliner and once again try to blow smoke up Yamaha fans skirts to convince them that they have something new to offer. Didn't even bother to offer a cruise control like all other viable bagger competitiors are offering on their bikes. You can't tell me they don't know what they are doing. They absolutely would not have to rebuild the Venture to satisfy anxious fans, they only have to tweak it a little with the upgrades we have all spoken of numerous times in the forums. Just this tweaking would create a mass move of purchases for them. How can a company have such a unique edge on their competition like having one of the best motors to have ever been strapped to the frame of a touring bike, and not take advantage of it? Every company that is in business is constantly looking for an edge, or niche that will make them different than the competition. Yamaha has that with the V4, and it's very obvious they could care less. I love my RSTD, but I have serious thoughts of buying a full dresser. I have waited for 3 years now for Yamaha to upgrade the Venture because I really want to stay with A. the V4, and B. liquid cooled. Looks like they don't care enough about their customers needs for me to keep giving the Venture a consideration. Okay, now somebody say something to get me off of this ledge I'm standing on. Lol.
  4. Yeah, you need to buy it at that price. Heck, if you don't use it, you could sell it and make a little cash.
  5. Thats a true measurement. I just did it with a tape. Lol.
  6. 1 1/2".
  7. One question. Are you sure a new RSV will be out this year?
  8. Yes, I have a Rivco center stand. I do not have the leveling links though. I was at Bikes Blues and BBQ and Rivco was there. I bought it and had them install it right then and have never regretted it. They aren't cheap, but overall I'm glad I spent the money. The only complaint I have is you gotta get aggressive with it to get it up on the stand. I am 6'6" and 300lbs, and I have to stand on it with my whole weight, and give it a strong tug on the rear bag guard to get it up. They are a quality built product. Since I had them install it, I have no recommendation as to how easy they are to self install.
  9. I am a sales rep for the largest industrial sales company in the world. I travel by vehicle about 3000 miles per month in a territory that extends out about 100-150 miles from my home. I have an extensive client base that keeps me busy on the phone with them constantly, and my email and text counts on a daily basis are at a ridiculous level sometimes. Having said that, I no longer text and email (my email comes to my smart phone) while my vehicle is moving because I had a near death experience a couple years ago because of a texting incident while I was driving. I was on the freeway traveling at 75mph when I received a text from one of my clients. It was an important matter so I decided to read and respond with a text. As I was reading the text, I had let myself take my eyes off the road too long, and I glanced up to see a highway police car in my lane nearly stopped in front of me. I had just enough time to yank the stearing wheel to the right, and if i missed his right rear by an inch, thats all I missed it by. My vehicle left the freeway at probably 70-75mph and very luckily for me, stayed upright and just slid sidways for a long ways down an embankment that was on the side of the freeway. After my vehicle stopped, I was actually able to slowly drive it back up to the freeway surface and stop on the side. He pulled up behind me and I actually was freaking so bad that I got out of the car and my knees buckled. I uncontrollably started apologizing to him. He got out of his cruizer and was so shook up, he just leaned and sat against the hood of his car and was shaking. He asked me what the hell I was doing, and after I explained, he proceeded to chew me out like I was his son, and informed me that I was headed down a road to certain death, or even worse, killing someone else. He and I asolutely knew that we had just experienced a situation that very easily could've killed at least one of us, and probably both. It would've been a horrific collision that most certainly would've made the news that afternoon. The reason he was going so slow was because he was creeping behind a paint truck that was going real slow painting new lines on the freeway. He even had his flashers on, but because i was focusing so much on the text, I didn't even notice them. Before that moment I had a strong confidence in my ability to drive and multitask, after all, I was used to doing it because my car is my office. Not so anymore. I now will stop on the side of the freeway or anywhere else if I need to respond to a text or email. And to tell you the truth, I very quickly learned that 90% of most text and emails don't need an immediate response anyway. Actually talking on the phone is something I will do if its critically important to my business. I have helped things in the talking area by purchasing a vehicle that has Bluetooth so everything is hands free. I do believe that talking on the phone is very dangerous too, but no where near as dangerous as texting and emailing on the phone. You have to look and stare at the phone to text and email and I will not ever go back to doing it. I see people all day long while im on the road that are texting while they are driving. I just wanna pull them over and tell them what I know. It's an epidemic that needs to stop.
  10. Yeah, I thought the "if you don't ride a Harley, you don't ride a motorcycle" statement was pretty stupid too. The motorcycle world is filled with knuckle draggers like that who have the attitude that "if you don't ride what I ride, well you're just an idiot". These are the same people in the world that think their house is better than yours, their kids are better, their job is better, their vehicles are better, their..........is better. Stupid! I don't play the game. Hangin out with people like that is a bore to me. While there are plenty in the Harley ranks that have that attitude, there are tons that ride other brands too. I know of people who feel that way if you don't ride a BMW, or a Goldwing, or a sport bike, or an adventure bike. I've been in plenty of conversations when these people talked with their nose up like what they ride is superior. Ugh! We're all motorcyclist. We ride different brands, shapes, colors, styles, but we're all motorcyclist. I like em all. If we all rode one brand it would be boring as hell. I love my Yamaha, but i love looking at other bikes too, and that includes Harleys. Heck, I took my grandson to a motocross race a couple weeks ago and loved it! But, I'm sure some of those motocrossers have the attitude if you don't ride on dirt, your not a motorcyclist. Lol. And I don't wanna have an infantile conversation about "it" being made in America. Don't talk to me about your bike being "made in America" while you have a cell phone hanging on your hip that is made in another country, or while your watching your TV made by Samsung, LG, Sony, Insignia, Sanyo, etc. Or, looking at the screen on this computer that is mfg in a foreign country. If you have one thing in your life that you use on a regular basis that isn't made in America, and believe me, you do, then don't be harping on motorcycle riders that buy some other brand than Harley, or Victory. It kills your credibility. Now, I'm gonna get off my soap box, and go get in my 2010 Ford F150 (which by the way, has a sizeable number of components in it that aren't made in this country) and take a ride to cool off. Lol.
  11. Better Half would like armrests for long vacations. Anybody have armrests on your RSTD? Any suggestions. I have seen a product online called Love Handles. Anybody know have this product? Thanks
  12. I've been looking at the single wheelers.
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will quit fretting over it and go ahead and bite the bullet. Like several of you said, if someone really wants it, they'll find a way. I'm pretty sure I'll try to always lock it to a fixed object, since as light weight as they are, a couple people could just pick it up and put it in the back of a truck, huh? Good to hear none of you have experienced one getting stolen. Makes me think it doesn't happen enough for me to worry about too much.
  14. I'm seriously thinking about buying a trailer to use on our 4000 mile trip we have planned for September. I have a question that keeps coming to my mind that is keeping me from going ahead and pulling the trigger to buy one. Q. How the heck do you keep the thing secure if you leave it at the hotel while you do a day ride? Surely some of you have some jazzy ways to secure it so it will still be there when you get back to the hotel. I'd be on fire if I spent good money for a trailer and it got stolen while I was on my trip. Please advise.
  15. I have the Saddlemen S2200E for most of our running around and 2-3 day weekend stays. It fits fine on the Yamaha luggage rack. We like it because you can expand the sides if needed for some extra room. you can put a full face helmet in it. I also have a big honkin Saddlemen 3200 bag for our week to two week rides. Doesn't sound like you would need anything that big. The S2200E sounds perfect for you. It also comes with a rain cover, and a soft roll bag that clips onto the top if needed. I'll be the first one to tell you the Royal Star Tour Deluxe luggage rack is a stupid design. Its not wide enough. I get jealous when I see other bikes with nice big/wide racks. Lol.
  16. Hunter, Did you order just the spring, or the clutch friction plates too. I highly recommend doing the plates too.
  17. Had the same thing happen to my 07 last month. Ordered the clutch kit from Earl (Skydoc17) and installed it in 30 minutes. Totally changed the clutch feel and performance. Love it. Earl is super helpful. Trust me, if you can change your own oil, you can do this job.
  18. I highly recommend to anyone who attends the rally to ride over to Eureka Springs and check this little town out. Very very cool place. You feel like you're in another country while you are there.
  19. 50,000 or 400,000, whats a few thousand difference between friends? I do believe the 400,000 figure they give is high, but 50,000 is surely low. This thing packs hotels for 50 miles out. One explanation for why you don't see total traffic gridlock, might be because the events are spread out across 4-5 cities and not just in a central area. This is a 4-5 city area that has a population of 500,000, and they are used to handling and moving large crowds several times a year with events like the University of Arkansas games that bring in close to 100K crowds to the games. Whatever the count is, this is a fun, clean, well ran rally in a beautiful area of the middle part of the country.
  20. BBB is a very large rally, and very nicely ran. My wife and I attended 2 years in a row, but had to miss last year. I will be headed up to it this year with 2 cousins that ride a Beemer, and a V-Strom. It is said that it ranges from the 3rd to 5th largest rally in the nation. The attendance ranges from 150,000 to 300,000+ depending on the economy. All the major bike mfgs will be there giving test rides, and it is really cool because they are all set up in a huge parking lot, and you ride out into the area from there. You can ride one mfg, then go across the parking lot and ride another, then another. The whole area gets into the rally fever. Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale, and Bentonville all have events that connect to the rally, be it motocross, stunt shows, a huge car show, live bands, and tons of other stuff. That part of the state has some of the best motorcycle roads in america. You'll see celebs. Three years ago my wife and I stayed in the same hotel as Jesse James and Sandra Bullock. He was there with his West Coast Choppers stuff. Lots of vendors. Thats where I bought my Rivco center stand for my RSTD. they installed it while I waited. Ultimate, Mustang, and other seat mfg will be there. Trailer mfgs, Chrome galor, Blue Tooth headset mfgs, clothing, its all there. You won't be disappointed if you chose to go.
  21. WOW, is right!! After reading all of this, it makes me wish i had been the Dude that invented SeaFoam! Heck, I have a computer that gets a little stopped up every now and again, I wonder if SeaFoam will help it? You know what? SeaFoam might be the answer to us having to take our Great Dane to the vet periodically. Just joking.
  22. Rick, What everyone has said about how easy it is is very true. I just did the clutch job on my RSTD last week. It was literally so easy, I thought there should've been more work to it. I ordered the kit from Skydoc. Get in touch with him, he is super helpful. Good luck.
  23. I have a question that I've always wondered about. I'm sure plenty of you that have the mental data to prove this, will settle this question in my mind. Q. What air temperature do these normally aspirated motors in the Ventures and RSTD's that we ride like the most? What I'm asking is, do they run and perform better in warm-hot (summer) temps, or do they run and perform better in cool-cold (fall/winter) temps? Or, is it a matter of air thickness, and barometric pressure? The reason I asked is, sometimes on cool or more comfortable days, my bike acts like it really likes it, and is a little more responsive. Am I imagining things, or is it just that I feel better on those days? Just wondering.
  24. Mine are coming due in July. It's $9.50. Our cars are $27.00. I love Arkansas!
