Are there any sprint car fans out there? I have a buddy trying to talk me into going to Tulsa for the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals the second week of January. I've never been, but I've heard that it's a pretty crazy week of indoor midget sprint car raciing. Before I commit, I would like to get a real idea of whether i should plunk down the funding for ticket and hotel. Has anyone attended before?

Have you driven by a casino lately? It's hard to believe we're in a GREAT DEPRESSION while looking at casino parking lots that are so full you can't find a place to park.

I bought both the front and rear Star billet floor boards a couple years ago for my RSTD, and they make the bike look a lot better. I picked both sets up online for a total of $200.00. I recommend them.

Hense one of the reasons I haven't quite pulled the trigger yet to get a Venture. My wife and I have been on a 2 week trip every year we've had our RSTD, and with the huge a#@ t-bag that I have, with the roll bag on top, and the bag I hang under the luggage rack, we can carry way more crap than what I could get on the Venture. Having said that, I still see myself making the change, and then purchasing a trailer. My lovely bride loves motorcycling, but she has an equal desire to dress cute and nice, and shop while we're on the trip.

Well said Dragonrider. I can't get ramped up to my normal holiday cheer because of what happened. I have a grandson who is kindergarten age, and my only daughter is an elementary school teacher at one of the top schools in our state, and she is the same age as the 27 yr old teacher that died protecting her students. Everytime my mind wanders to what happened in that perfect little town of Sandy Hook, I picture what if that would happen to my precious grandson, or my beautiful daughter? I can't keep the tears from coming. I know this is the time to celebrate the birth of our savior, and me and my family will certainly be doing just that, but my thoughts are now, and will be Christmas day of the families who are in so much pain. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Lynn

I've never experienced the center stand dragging. I have dragged my floor boards on a number of occasions, but not the center stand.

I have the Rivco on my 07 RSTD. I love it. I caught Rivco at Bikes Blues and BBQ and they installed it for me their at the show. I hate to hear that they aren't keeping them in stock. Of the $2500.00+ of accessories that I have bought and installed on my RSTD, I would consider the center stand right up there with my Ultimate Seat as the best purchase I've made for the bike.

I'm not an expert on this subject, but I'm sure some of the guys are going to ask you if you have tried a heavier diaphram? A few months ago, my clutch started slipping, and through the advice of several here, I purchased the stronger diaphram kit from Skydoc, and the bike has performed awesome ever since. I guess if I had needed to, I would've changed over to springs, but the stronger diaphram seems to be the fix I was looking for. and was literally a 20-30 minute job.

You are so right. We played in the final again in 95 and have never been close again. I've always been a huge admirer of Duke basketball. The standard they have set for doing it right from top to bottom is second to none. Coach K is a wizard.

BIG TOM, We had a Basset one time. Loved her to death. Her name was Flo. She slept on our patio outside at night, and howled at moon all night long. I couldn't tell you how many times i had to get up during the night and yell at her to hush. It never worked, she just couldn't hold it in. the moon was too mesmerizing to her. LOL. After she passed, we went to the other end of the height spectrum. WE GOT A GREAT DANE!!! Now you talk about a tough pup to go through teething with. Within his first year he grew to be 130 lbs and and could stand on his hind feet and look me in the eyes, and I'm 6'6". We came home one day to find that he had turned over our patio table/umbrella and ate the whole umbrella lining. The only thing left was the huge umbrella frame, with no material on it. Another thing he did during teething was after I put up 7000 christmas lights on my house. I got home after dark one night and noticed a large section of my lights weren't on, and i figured my wife had forgotten to go out to the back of the house where they were plugged in and plug the lights in. Well, when I walked back there, I found that Samson (the Great Dane) had pulled the cord out of the plugin, and and pulled about 75 feet of the cord down from the eaves of my house where I had stapled it up, and he was sitting in the middle of the back yard with extension cord wrapped all around him, chomping/teething on the cord. Another funny one. I had spent a a large part of a Saturday mowing and weeding my lawn, and doing general yard work. After I was finished, I took a shower and was ready to sit and rest. I walked past my back door in time to see Samson trucking across my backyard pulling my $600.00 Honda push mower! I had forgotten to put it in the shed, and he grabbed the pull rope with his mouth and took off running with the mower in tow. I about killed him over that one. He eventually grew to be 190lbs. Oh, ask me about the incident that resulted in us getting him neutered.

Wow, you guys going back in time brings a special memory in my heart and mind of our boy Scotty Thurman nailing the impossible three to put the nail in Dukes coffin in the 94 national championship game. GO HOGS!

Ohhh. Thanks Flyin. I was starting think it was a double secret code word I wasn't know about. -
Deepfork, I'll check that out. I'm always listening to sports talk radio. We have an unbelievable station here in Arkansas too. Its 103.7 The Buzz. You can stream it live also. My brother who lives in Tampa streams it almost everyday, and says its way better than the ones they have down there. It starts off in the morning from 6-10 with David Bazzel, a former UA linebacker and Tommy Smith, then from 10-1 its the Zone, more local and regional sports talk, then 1-4 with Matt Jones the former famous UA quarterback and another guy, and then 4-7 with Randy Rainwater and Rick Sheafer, the former UA SID. Oklahoma and Ok State are talked about a lot on the shows. The news all day yesterday was that Gundy was the guy. The whole state was settled that it was him, and then out of the blue comes the news that it's Bielema. Crazy!

I think you're right, trailering shouldn't count. LOL. BTW, what is PFM? -
I just finished watching the live press conference of the introduction of him as the coach. I can tell you one thing, he is very impressive as a presence in front of the camera. Especially if you compare him to the reclusive attitude we had to deal with when Bobby Petrino was coach. More often than not, Petrino acted annoyed that reporters would even ask him questions. Very arrogant little fella. Bielema seems to be a more farm raised country boy type that is honest with the press. But, they can always fool ya. LOL. Time will tell if he will survive the pressure cooker that is the SEC, with all of the cut throat recruiting tactics, and underhanded financial dealings that go on down here. It really is a different world. It was cool to find out that his favorite aunt and uncle have lived here in Little Rock his whole life. And he has a close cousin that lives in the northwest part of the state. Bottom line is, if he doesn't win fairly quick the Hog fans will be calling for his head soon enough, and the warm and fuzzy feelings right now will be long forgotten. I am a born and raised Arkansan who has been a life long Hog fan, and I will tell you, Razorback fans will eat their own young. I watched them crucify Little rock born Houston Nutt because the guy supposedly couldn't win "the big one". Nevermind that he played for the SEC championship 3 times. I watched them gripe and moan about Arkansas born Kenny Hatfield in the 80's because he ran the wishbone, even though the guy kept us in the top 10 nationally every year and left here with a 72% winning percentage. I love my state, but it's a different world down here, and I hope for his own sake, Bielema does well enough to keep the knuckle draggers in this state quiet.

Hmmm. I was wondering if it was that kind of a story, that people in Wisconsin would have mixed feelings. The local news here in Arkansas reported that a survey was done back in Wisconsin, and 67% of the people were glad to see him go. That doesn't sound like a real whiz bang hire for Arkansas, but the Hog Nation will spin it as he's a great hire anyway. The almighty dollar is what 99% of these coaches are about. The hiring of Bielema to Arkansas was huge news here in the state yesterday, but just as big here locally was the news that Gus Malzahn, the head coach for Arkansas State, lied to the program and was leaving to take the head coaching position at Auburn. It was devistatating to AState because he had came in here last year and spent the whole season campaining about how big his vision is for AState to be the Boise of the south. He even as recently as Sunday said on a TV interview that he has unfinished business that he is focussed on at AState. He convincd them to pay more for him than they have ever paid for a coach, and they committed to a $30M stadium expansion, only for him to jump to Auburn yesterday. He is an Arkansas born and raised boy that constantly spoke of how glad he was to be back home. All he did yesterday was prove, along with Bielema, and 99% of the coaches that he can lie and deceive with the best of them. I've been a rabid NCAA football fan my whole life, but this crap is starting to give me a sick feeling in my stomach about supporting a system that ALL about the money.

Joboo, Your map on your signature? How'd you do that jump across states thingy? Did you ship the bike across the non colored states? Just wondering. LOL. -
Yeah, A lot of folks are talking about that today. So, Russell Wilson came from NC State? Didn't know that.
-
Don't know how many college football fans we have out there, but I'm looking for some opinions on the guy that my home states team hired yesterday. Arkansas sneaked into Wisconsin and grabbed Bret Bielema yesterday, and everyone here is in a total stunned coma about it. The airwaves are filled with mixed responses from people thinking it was a good hire, to folks highly upset. So, can anyone give me an honest read on what we have comin at us?
-
Miles, Very very interesting offer. I will certainly keep that in mind. I still have to do some research about shipping, but I am very interested in your offer, particularly about storing in your facility. I like the feeling of having someone from the site here that is verse on RSTD's taking care of my bike. I hate to not ride it up there myself, but we just won't have the time to ride the bike to Seattle, go on the cruise, and ride it back. Our vacation days are limited.
-
Has anyone used a motorcycle shipping company, if so, do you recommend one? My wife and I are tossing around for our 30th anniversary, flying to Seattle next year and go on an Alaskan cruise, have our bike shipped to Seattle, and after the cruise ride down through Oregon and down the coast to LA. Then back home.

I feel the exact same way, Don. If I wanted to float my boat in the sea of sameness, I would go buy a V-Twin. I like things that are different than the norm. You're right, it IS the V4 that sets our bikes apart. I enjoy the fact that folks usaully have never heard of an RSTD, much less would they expect that the power plant is a V4. No other brand offers that. If I did decide to spend my hard earned skins on a V-Twin, it wouldn't be on a same as everyone else looking bike like the one above that Yamaha is trying to convince us is a new idea. It would be on something different like a Vision, or CCT. Something that people really want to stop you and talk about.
