  1. Wait a minute?! The trunk won't hold full size helmets? I didn't know that?
  2. Haven't, but that sounds like a really good idea! Is there a product for that out there somewhere?
  3. Correction. I purchased the armrest from motorcyclereararmest.com, not motorcyclearmrest.com
  4. We love our 2007 RSTD. As you can see by my map, we have ridden it several miles 2 up across numerous states, on weekend, week long, and two week trips without a lick of trouble from the bike. Having said that, I have thought looonnnggg and hard about switching to a Venture. In the end, right before I make a deal for a Venture, the question always comes to my mind, WHY? I know many say the intercom, and radio are a reason, but we accomplish that exact same thing with our Sena SMH10's and our iPods. Some say the trunk on the back is a big feature, but when we take long vacations, our Saddlemen t bag with the roll top bag is way bigger than the space we would enjoy with the trunk. The seat comfort is a great point, but since I bought and installed the Ultimate seats and backrests two years ago, it has changed our world on how far we can go before needing a rest. This year before we went on our two week western trip, I purchased the passenger armrests system from motorcyclearmrest.com, and it makes it even better for my wifes comfy. One feature I like about the RSTD is it looks alot better when I ride it solo. If I want, I can quickly remove the windshield and backrest, and viola, it's like I have a completely different bike. But you know what? I still sit here today thinking I want a Venture. LOL. They really two different bikes with the same heart beat.
  5. How many miles is on your 09 black and red?
  6. Yep. I've got one that if she doesn't use it in 4 seasons its going in the trash. Clutter and disorganization causes her to have a panic attack. LOL. Her natural inate nature is to clean and organize. At all times. I love her for it.
  7. Thats funny stuff right there.
  8. There are a few main reasons I have decided against painted/coated floor. 1. My house is 35 years old with multiple deeply imbedded oil/fluid stains from previous owners who weren't careful with their maintenance work, and cleaning the floor well enough for a coating to hold for a long period of time is a near impossible proposition. 2. The aged floor has enough blemishes and scared areas that a coating wouldn't look completely smooth across the floor. 3. Even after doing all the prep work, and installing the coated floor, the possibility of hot tires sticking to it and pealing it is high. That would infuriate me the first time it happened. LOL. 4. Floating floors are extremely easy to install (3-4hrs), and you can do your floor in several different colors with whatever design you want to dream up.. they are warranted against cracks, color fade, etc.... They are very easy to remove if you need to get underneath for any reason. Annnddd, if/when I sell the house, I'll take the floor up and take it with me to the new house.
  9. That is certainly a good question, and all the floating floor companys have products that address that problem. For areas that will see a lot of moisture, they offer vented/perforated tiles of different styles. The regular tiles like I am going to install aren't air tight. They do have some breathability, and have drain ridges under them for moisture drying. I have lived in my house for 13 years, and I really have never experienced an incident where I had a large water or fluid spill, so I shouldn't have a problem. If there ever was an incident, the tiles are very easy to unlock and remove to get under them for any kind of problem I need to correct.
  10. Hey My Venturerider Friends, I am going to pull the trigger on purchasing floating floor tiles for my garage floor. I am considering products from 3 different suppliers, RaceDeck, Swisstrax, and Modutile. Have any of you had any experience with either of these three manufacturers? I feel like Swisstrax is probably the highest quality, but they also come with a substantially higher price. I would like to get the job done for the lowest price (Modutile), but I just want to make sure I don't get myself into a situation where the product is way lesser quality. Give me your thoughts, please. Thanks, Lynn.
  11. Gap or no gap. That color combo and style of that seat looks great on that bike!
  12. You're right! I'm not an engineer, and that is freakin amazing! Man, I wish was that smart!
  13. Man! Don't know if any of you watched the national championship game last night, but Alabama was like men among boys. I'm an Arkansas Razorback fan, so we who are supporters of teams in the SEC kinda knew before hand what ND had coming to them. We've had to deal with Alabama's dominance for several years now. They aren't gonna stop either until Nick Saban gets out of there. Wish Cleveland or Philly would do us all a favor and throw stupid money at him get him to leave Bama. LOL.
  14. It appears there will be no video broadcast of the event. Racinboys.com is doing a nightly audio live broadcast of it. They are pretty good. Here in my town we have the Short Track Nationals every year for the top 360 sprint cars in the nation, and Racinboys has done that live audio broadcast for several years, and they are good at what they do. This past year the event was video pay per viewed so that was a lot better. I want anybody but a Swindell to win the Chili Bowl.
  15. Decided to not go. Gut wrenching decision. Do you know if they are showing it on the internet? Like maybe Racinboys.com. I'll check.
  16. We have the SMH10 Dual unit for my wife and I. We love it! We have ridden thousands of miles with them, and they have performed flawlessly. We also have the Scala Rider Q2 product, but we have found that the Sena SMH10 unit is easier to operate, and sounds better. The Scala stays in our helmet/jacket cabinet and doesn't get used. We did have a minor incident about a year ago where one of the contact pins on the unit that goes on my helmet broke, but Sena covered it and sent us a whole new unit. The volume/jog dial is way easier to used with gloves on than the Scala. It also seeks and connects to each other, and our cell phone way quicker. We use the solid mic due to the fact that we have open face helmets with a face shield. One problem you might experience with the mic that sticks inside your chin bar is, when you flip up your chin bar, you won't be heard by the person you might be talking to. For example, if you're on the phone and you're sitting on your bike getting gas, or doing something else, and you want to flip your chin bar up for a little air, then your mic will be up around your forehead. We highly recommend the SMH10/MH10.
  17. Lets see here...... Victory - 10+yr old company. Harley - 100+yr old company. Yep....you're gonna see a lot more Harleys on the road.
  18. Ya'll realize I started this thread way back in August, don't you? LOL. Already did the plugs and went on a 2 week 4000 miler out west the 1st week of September. But, thanks for the pointers.
  19. Good Lord! Thats a lotta ridin! And.....I am very envious. Be safe. I'm selfish enough to tell ya need ya back for our trip to Seattle next year. Good luck!
  20. Thanks Brian, Great info to consider. When we rode yesterday, which was the first day for us to try this stuff out, the most we could tolerate was for the gear to be on medium. So, I don't see us ever going above that setting since it was 36 outside. Won't be riding in any colder weather than that. The volt meter idea is something I might do.
  21. Squidley, I'm glad you have asked this question. I am on the verge of purchasing and installing one to boost the power to run mine and my wifes heated gear. I never thought about when it gets hot down here in the south. And as those of us from the south can attest, it gets FREAKIN hot down here. LOL. I hope someone answers that has experienced this.
  22. Miles, where did you get the info of what my bike stock stator puts out? Is there info somewhere of what the normal operation of the bike draws?
  23. Thanks so much for the info. I don't run anything external on my bike, such as passing/running lights. I've thought about getting them, but haven't pulled the trigger on them yet. The jacket liner, and both sets of gloves are a total wattage of 127 watts. Should I have any problem since I don't run anything thing else external on the bike?
  24. I recently purchased my wife a Sedici heated jacket liner, and heated gloves. She loves her gloves so much, she purchased me a pair of Sedici heated gloves today. All of these recent purchases have me wondering tonight. Should I be worried about the electrical system on my RSTD handling this extra load? BTW, I've never had heated gear before. But, after I hooked them up and tried them today, OMG! Is this what I've been missing out on all this time?!?! Nice and toasty.
  25. Fuzzy, Awesome to hear you're gonna come enjoy our state! North, Northwest, and Southwest Arkansas provide some the of the best motorcycle roads in the country. Certainly you must experience, as stated above, Jasper, Ar, Hwy 7, The Pig Trail, Boxley Valley, Mt Magazine, which are all over in the NW part of our state, but, DO NOT overlook the northern middle section of our state. As stated by Cb above, this area has some of the best riding in the state, but for some reason doesn't get the fanfare that NW gets. My wife and I have the exact bike you have and have rode all over our state. It's beautiful country over here. It doesn't have the altitudes that the Blue Ridge area that's close to where you're from has, but you'll find plenty of elevation changes, and numerous roller coaster and twisty roads to fit your fancy. When I get some time, I will put you a suggested route together. Right now I'm dealing with us being in our 4th day of no power, and extensive damage to my property due to a christmas day winter storm that swept through our state that has left over 200K of us without power. BTW, I hope your experiencing great performance out of your bike. Not only have my wife and I tracked thousands of mile around our state on ours, but, also 2 years ago we took a 2 weaker out to Tennessee, NC, and up through Lexington, Louisville, and back, as well as this year we did a 2 week 4000 mile ride out west to OK, TX, NM, CO, UT, AZ and back. The RSTD has performed flawless for us. Talk to you soon, Lynn
