I have an Ultimate Seat with an Ultimate backrest. The backrest folds down nicely for me to swing my leg over it while getting on and off. Couldn't live without it.

What are you talkin bout? I didn't see any spelling or grammer errors. Next thing ya know, you'll be makin fun of how us suthun folk talk.

Russellvh, Make sure you take this day ride. From Flagstaff, take I-17 south from I-40 for about 9 miles. Then take the Hwy 89A exit and ride 89A down to Sedona, Az. This is a very popular and Beautiful motorcycle ride with awesome sweepers and twisties and stunning views. Sedona is a cool town sitting among amazing red rock formations and bluffs. There is a popular church built into the side of a mountain that is a must see. Don't end your journey in Sedona. It is a must to keep riding south on 89A down through the valley town of Cottonwood and then up 89A over the mountain heading toward Prescott. On top of that mountain is an old mining town named Jerome. It is a motorcycle mecca. Ride past the town over the mountain for some awesome riding, and then turn around and come back to Jerome for shops and good eats. Then head back to Flagstaff either by 89A, or run over to I-17 and take it north. You won't regret taking a day and doing this ride.

Prairiehammer, Do make sure you ride the Million Dollar Highway. Silverton, and Ouray are cool little towns to stop and get a drink or shop a little between Durango and Montrose. After you get to Montrose, be sure you jump over and take a look at Black Canyon of the Gunnison N.P., truly awesome! Also, after you leave the Montrose area, I highly recommend you taking a ride up to the Grand Junction, Co. area and get on Interstate 70 and ride it east from Grand Junction toward Denver. The section on I-70 from about Rifle, Co. to Eagle-Vail is rated by a lot of travel publications as USA's most beautiful section of Interstate Hwy. As you go through Glenwood Canyon around Glenwood Springs, it gets so narrow that they built the interstate on top of each other. The Colorado River runs beside the interstate most of this section, and a lot of times gives you the illusion that the water is running up hill. Really amazing ride for an interstate.

Don, I've been meaning to ask you this, and maybe someone has already asked you and I missed it. But, now that Harley has came out with their all new water cooled bike with all of the upgraded features, do you have just a tad of a "I wish I would've waited another year" feeling? I rode one and that sucker is very nice! Just wondering.

Awesome news! Sounds like you're so proud and thankful. Hope no other GFB Programmer 1's are reading this forum. LOL.

A really great bike for a tall rider is the Suzuki 650 VStrom.

Minneapolis Motorcyclist hits pothole is thrown to his death
BigLenny replied to bill in mn's topic in Watering Hole
A couple years ago I read an article in Rider Magazine about a large research that had been done on motorcycle accidents. It had revealed a lot of interesting findings about when/where/time they happen and the circumstances. The glaring stat that dominated the article was that; over 70% of all motorcycle accidents in America are caused by rider error. Sadly. it appears this gentleman made some decisions that resulted in him contributing to the stat being over 70%. It's so sad when we hear of this. I pray for his family. -
Hey Folks, I'm gonna be looking to do a carb sync sometime in the near future. My bike has 33K on it and it's never had a carb sync. I know you guys and gals say its very easy, and i think I could buy a kit and somehow figure it out, but, I'm really thinking I would like to meet up with one of you who is close by that has done this before, and learn by hands on experience. Is there anybody out there that is close to, or lives in Arkansas that would take me up on my offer? I would certainly pay you for your time. Thanks, Lynn

Creole, I get exactly what you're saying. I'm sure Suzuki Cavalcade riders had these very same conversations whenever they were abandoned so Suzuki could go after the younger, faster market. Anyway, In reference to your looking for a new bike, I test rode the new water cooled Harley Ultra Glide back in September, and man, that was a sweet ride! I would have to work on my brain to get past the shaking at idle, but once you hit the throttle, it turns into a smooth as glass bike. The Voyager is intriguing to me because it is water cooled also, but I found it vibrated at speed, and I wasn't impressed with how flimsy the saddlebag and trunk lids were. The winshield was flimsy too, but Kawi is usually known for long term quality. And you can buy a Voyager way cheaper than any other new full dresser on the market. I think the Victory Cross Country Tour is a beautiful bike because it isn't the same ole traditional old timey look of the Harley. I get very bored with traditional stuff. However, I'm still kinda iffy about it being aircooled. I really am partial to water cooled, and shaft drive. I think I could be coaxed into getting a belt drive bike, but, at this point, I don't think I could spend good money on a non-watercooled bike. I just really believe water cooled gives the motor a better chance of lasting longer. If Victory were to surprise us and water cool the CCT, money would probably be flying outta my pocket. Of course the Goldwing is out there. Yaaawwwnnn. The bike is probably the gold standard, and it's been the same for sooooo long, and soooo freaking good for soooo long, that it's, well, unispiring. A bike that is very intriguing to me is the BMW K1600GTL. But, and this a big but for me; Where do I get that sucker worked on??? Where I live we do not have a BMW dealer and i am not interested in hoofing it 3+hrs away to the nearest one. Good luck in your search.

Like I said........The girl ain't coming back.

Where did you get that wheel chromed? That is a Venture/RSTD wheel, isnt it?
-
So, RedRider, You said you have a small jack to lift it so you can take the rear wheel off. Dennis in the above post mentioned the lift has a bar across the back that you have to lift the bike high enough to get the tire to move forward to miss the bar. Is that why you have the lift, or is it simply because you do not have a center stand? I was thinking since I have a center stand on my RSTD, I would be able to set it on that, drop the opening on the lift and take my rear tire off. Am I mistaken? Thanks, Lynn

So, Bob, The rear saddlebag cover doesn't work if you have the luggage rack attached on the RSTD? BL -
Dna, Thanks so much for your report on this specific lift. I am on the verge of purchasing it, but I kinda had reservations because HF isn't know for selling top notch quality stuff. I have the creaking rearend thing going on with my bike, and I'm gonna yank the rearend off and grease the gears. I have read online that this lift has an issue with a locking bar bending. have you had that issue. Thanks again. Lynn

When are we (Venture/RSTD owners) gonna realize that the girl (Yamaha) isn't coming back??? It was a nice long marriage with so many good memories, but the fact is a more appealing partner caught her eye. A partner that is probably younger, faster, not as boring as us stable, faithful, touring guys. Our money is made, our friends are set, our lifestyle is consistent. All of that is good, but she is bored with it. She has made it pretty clear by her actions that she is looking for an up and comer with new money to spend for years down the road. Someone who is gaining new friends that she can show herself off to. But, we are a sad lot. We hope upon hope that everytime the phone rings it will be her telling us that she made a mistake by leaving us, and she wants to come back. The truth is, it's fools gold. She is gone for good, and we can't quite bring ourselves to believe it. We really ought to get pissed and move on to some other deserving gal (Honda, Harley, Victory, Kawi) that truly sees our value, but, we won't do that. We keep waiting, and if by some miracle she does come calling us again, we'll remember the good memories and take her back in a heart beat because she is so fine.

I agree with Bongo. Going all the way to the gas tank is too much. Btw, that obviously would effect the natural airflow around the cylinders. I know thats not as crucial, if at all, with a water cooled bike, but, makes me wonder if it needs a least some airflow. It's a good idea though.

Greasing Splines
BigLenny replied to rutman's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm gonna grease my rear end (sounds vulgar) next weekend. I have the creaking sound, so I won't be surprised if I find the same thing you found. -
Nice car! That's a better looking car than a Miata. Has better lines. I've always felt like the Miata is a females car. That Solstice has stronger lines that make it look more aggressive than the Miata.

Friesman, Last year I bought my wife and I the previous model of the helmet you're looking at, the Nolan N43 Trilogy. We love it love it love it. The field of vision is way more than any full face or modular helmet we tried on. I looked at every freakin modular helmet made before i decided to buy the Trilogy's for us. The main issue we had was, we had been used to wearing open faced helmets with face shields, and my wife kept denying every modular helmet I presented her because the field of vision was so narrow it made her feel claustrophic. The N43 Trilogy's solved that problem. She still takes the chinbar of from time to time while riding, then I nag her until she puts it back on. I bought them from Revzilla. Very easy to do business with. Now, after seeing the N44 on your link, I'm pissed. i like the looks of it even better than the ones I have. Anybody wanna buy a couple slightly used Trilogy's? LOL.

Pink scared the crap outta me. I was worried the whole time that she was gonna fall, LOL. She obviously has some gymnastics in her background.

Don't know if y'all watched the Grammys last night, but I got one thing to say; Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson need to give up the stage. It was sad and funny. Thank goodness Merle and Blake came out and saved them. LOL.

30 in 1 second. Total luck.

Thanks! I have added some stuff to the room since these pictures were taken, like lighting above the work bench, and a flat panel HDTV. Once a year we host a casino party for approx. 50 of our friends and family. Half of this room has a craps table in it and the other half we use for the dance floor during that event. Lol.

It was around $1200.00. I just didn't want the hassle of putting down an epoxy floor of some sort and eventually it start flaking due to the heat from car tires and pressure of temperature expansion. Plus, our house has some age on it, and the garage floor had plenty of imperfections from wear and tear that I would've never have gotten clean enough, or smooth enough to be able to put a perfect coat of epoxy down.
