  1. Wow! These stories make me nervous just reading them!
  2. After reading about Larry1963's close call on another thread, it got me to thinking. I know most of us have had a close call on our bikes at one time or another. What I mean by close call is; an incident that happened while riding your bike, that if it would've been a slightly different scenario, you would've most likely been killed, or seriously hurt. Something that scared the bejesus out of you. Here's one for me: 3 years ago, my wife and I were riding to Bikes Blues and BBQ in northwest Arkansas. We were running about 60mph on a beautiful mountain road in the Boston Mountains. We entered into an area where the trees lined right up next to the road on the left side, and in a split second it happened! A large deer with a large rack on his head came busting out of the tree line in a full sprint and literally came right across our face as we crossed paths with him at 60mph. It actually seemed like he jumped over our front fender, and their was a thump sound like he had nipped our windshield. IT WAS THAT CLOSE! It happened so freakin fast, I didn't even have time to get on the brakes. I can still remember my wife letting out a scream in the microphone. Crazy close to disaster! We stopped about a quarter mile down and got off the bike and laid down in the grass beside the road to catch our breath. We absolutely knew we had just avoided a serious, possibly lethal situation. So, who else has had a serious close call? Lets hear them.
  3. God, I LOVE my Mac!!!! 6 Years ago I finally got sick and tired of all of the Windows crap and I bit the bullet and purchased my Mac. Best thing I ever did! I have never ran an anti-virus, and it still runs perfect. All of Apple's updates have been seamless. It's 500GB unit, and we have filled it to 350GB with 20,000 pics and a bunch of other stuff, and the dang things still runs just as fast as the day I bought it. I'll never go back.
  4. We have winters that see temps of teens to single digits. But, we generally in the winter, have a day or so here and there when the temps will jump up to high 40's or low 50's, then plummet back down to teens and such. So, we aren't locked in for months on end. We can ride fairly consistently into mid November, then hit and miss to mid December, then none until late February, then hit and miss again until late March. Then we're riding again. However, we hadn't touched the bike since the last week of September last year due to a couple surgeries my wife and I had. So, when I got the bike out in March, it, for the first time in 9 years, had a dead battery. I jumpstarted it. It then would start, but cranked slow. I just decided to replace the battery because I figured it had been long enough on an original battery.
  5. Fuzzy, I keep it in an insulated garage. That probably helps the situation. BL
  6. I had the original YUSA battery in mine until March of this year (8yrs, 9Mo). Never even put a battery tender on it. I went back with another YUSA. I do put a battery tender on it now though. Not sure why i do it now, when I never did it before, and got nearly 9 years out of it.
  7. I'll check out my schedule and send you a text. Would love to catch up with y'all.
  8. Oh yeah. I forgot you built them. I just know I wouldn't want to do without the center stand I have on my RSTD.
  9. There's plenty of great riding within a few hours of Gravette. Have you ridden in that area before? Let me know if you need some ideas. BigLenny
  10. Boss, Thats an impressive list of Safety Farkle Chrome! But, you're missing something very important: Rivco Center Stand. BigLenny
  11. Hey Mike, i love that bike of yours! Saw it in St. Charles last year. She's a bute. You said you're coming down to Arkansas at teh end of the month. Whereabouts in our beautiful state are you headed? BigLenny
  12. Hmmmmm. Lets see here....... 1. THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME. 2. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE. 3. THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN. 4. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY. 5. HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER. 6. THOU SHALT NOT KILL. 7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY. 8. THOU SHALT NOT STEAL. 9. THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR. 10. THOU SHALT NOT COVET ANYTHING THAT IS THY NEIGHBORS. (ie, their BMW K1600GTL!!!!!!). Yep, it's that 10th one that i'm struggling with right now! Really really struggling. Sweet ride Shmily.
  13. For the Love of God..........I mean, Godlover, You look tickled pink on that machine! I've seen youtube videos of folks smoking the rear tire on that particular model. You better hang on to that thing, Bro.
  14. Socks, Something you might want to research is; there has been a fair amount of discussions about the Indians putting off considerable heat from the rear jug. My wife and i test rode the Roadmaster at Bikes Blues and BBQ, and I did notice that the bike put off more engine heat than I had ever experienced on my 07 RSTD. Not sure if the Springfield will do that. Victory has had issues with their Vision putting off heat. Just a suggestion. BigLenny
  15. Edbo, Thanks so much for the report and the pics! I love that area. I wanna go back there sometime soon. You can just randomly stick your finger on a map of that area, and it'll land on a great motorcycle road. BigLenny
  16. Glad you said that Dave. I've been running Metzlers for 8 years on my 07 RSTD, and have had great success with both performance and longevity. I had one set a long time ago that started cupping on the edges after about 10000 miles, but that was before I figured out the correct air pressure I should run in them.
  17. First things first. Get you a good lawyer! That $1.00 will be gone in a heartbeat if you don't.
  18. Way to go Sleeper! I love that color! If I were to ever buy a Goldwing, thats the one I'd buy. Congrats!
  19. Your wife needs to take it down a notch! Sounds like she's a candidate for some counselling sessions.
  20. Yama Mama, I really wanna be in Chat tonight, but it's a little too early for me. I will be attending my grandsons baseball game (see link). Won't be home until around 9:00. It's very important that Pops is there. LOL. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=home%20run%20maddox Big Lenny
  21. Dude! If I lived close to you I'd snap that opportunity right up! NOOOTTTTT!!!!! Don, you're an ol' trickster.
  22. Oh Man, Ed!! I'm so saddened to hear and see of this. Breaks my heart for you and your family. I'm praying for you to have peace and strength during this challenging time.
  23. Don, Get rid of the whitewalls. They make you and the bike look old and slow. (Hence the "old school" comments).
  24. You're gonna love Barber! We went there last year. OMG! Every motorcyclist should have that place on their bucket list.
