Steamer, Im gonna point out the elephant in the room. Most of the folks in this joint are getting old. Bottom line. When you get old, you have all kinda things that can sideline ya, i.e.: Funds aren't what they used to be, health isn't what it used to be, energy and interest isn't what it used to be, been there done that itus. Plus, add to the mix that Yamaha has abandoned us, and well, it all adds up to a site full of old folks riding old bikes that are becoming more and more obsolete with each passing day. For some time now, members have been moving to other bike brands and slowly trickling the interesting conversations that have went on in the past. I think a good barometer is Cowpuc. He has been our crazy brother that everytime you turned around, he, Tip, and Tweeks were running off somewhere around the country sending pics and stories that made us all envious. Now, even Puc has settled a bit and not running with the energy he once was. So, if pic isn't doing it, then I'd say most of the rest of our members are REALLY slowing down and losing interest. However, I HAVE HOPE! I know one thing, ya never count a buncha old folks out! We shall rise again! Tooch's epic journey very likely lit the fire for some of us to burn with traveling desire. And, I did just recently see the pics and vids of an awesome hotdog MG&E somewhere up yonder,

Darrin, What brand is that fairing? Does it come with brackets to install right on the RSTD, or are you gonna hafta rig it?

I hate you're having problems with a Nissan. My wife and I have owned several Nissans and have great performance from them. We currently own a Nissan Quest van that we have been from one end of the country to the other on vacations. It has 193000 miles on it, and we're gonna use it again this for our vacation trip. My wife has a 2014 Nissan Altima that has been perfect. She loves it. We have owned other brand of vehicles too, and the Nissans have been some of the best ones we've owned.

Hey Gang, 4 years ago, my beautiful bride and I went on a 2 week ride out west to Northern NM, CO, UT, and AZ. during that trip we rode the Million Dollar Highway from Montrose down to Durango. As you all know, that trip goes through a neat little town called Ouray. We stopped in OUray so my wife could spend about an hour or so going through the shops. Well, today at lunch, I had this daydreaming thing that made me yearn for another trip out that way, so I got on Google Maps and started looking at routes and checking out street views of different areas. I did a street view of Ouray, and low and behold, sitting right there is our red and black RSTD with my our red and black jackets laying over the t-bag and our helmets sitting in the seats! What are the chances pf that??? I never saw a Google car go by when we were there 4 years ago, but apparently one did. Crazy feeling to see my bike sitting there on the street view. See link. https://www.google.com/maps/@38.0223476,-107.6715276,3a,44.1y,149.21h,89.52t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sy-vbvtBvrgAWzQvN-0oayw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en

Hey Folks, I just got off the phone with the dealer. They informed me the bike just sold. I told them I hope the purchaser knew what they were buying. They said they certainly did, and was very excited that it was a 1st production, and they didn't even balk at the asking price. I was going to make them an offer. Too late. BL

DarrinGT, Congrats Bro. I have that exact bike, and you're gonna love it! We bought ours new in 07 and have loved it to death ever since. My wife and I have been to 20 states on ours. That red is a color that has brought a lot of attention from people when we're out travelling. I have added a ton of stuff to ours, but I haven't added the bat-wing fairing. I have thought about it and thought about it, but have never pulled the trigger. I'm anxious to see how it looks on yours. Please post pics when you get it added. Thanks, BIg Lenny

Somebody needs to buy it and donate it to the Barber Motorsports Museum. That thing would look beautiful sitting under some LED lights representing Yamaha's touring entry.

I'm not trying to turn this into a classified thread. I just thought seeing a 1st production was pretty dang rare.

Slowroll, They are askinig $7995.00. See link. http://www.cycletrader.com/dealers/Action-PowerSports-783116/listing/2000-Yamaha-Venture-MM-Limited-117789253

Gang, I was looking at Cycle Trader tonight, and there is a 2000 Royal Star Venture MM Limited for sale, and the number plate on the trunk says 0001/1500. What does that mean? Does that mean it is the 1st one produced of 1500 produced? If that is true, wouldn't that be a pretty significant bike to own for a Venture lover? Just wondering. Big Lenny

Ace High Leathers saddlebag lid covers modification

Wow, Starfan! That looks awesome! I'm like Freebird, I would be hesitant to ride that thing anywhere. Is all that trim waterproof? Big Lenny -
Bob, I'm so happy to hear you quit smoking. The truth be told, it's a pretty nasty, disgusting habit isn't it. I'm glad you don't like the taste of them anymore. Now, don't let anybody or any situation convince you to go back to it. I was watching CBS Evening News last week, and they did a story on smoking, They showed a stat that only 18% of Americans are smoking anymore, and the heaviest use is primarily among (get this) the lower educated, lower income segment of America. Is that the segment you want to be compared to? Hang in there. You da man!

I'm of the opinion that $12.00 per year is a total ripoff, highway robbery. Every year when I re-up my membership, I have to push my brain past the fact that I am totally ripping Don off. It's highway robbery for me to only shell out the paltry sum of $12.00 per year to gain the benefits I have here on this site. I just ate a lunch that cost $12.00, and 2 hours from now, it won't even be in my body anymore, heck, 2 days from now, I won't even remember what I ate. $12.00 is so ridiculously low for what we all receive from this site, its laughable. I think the next time Don receives any complaint from someone about the rate, he needs to send them a message with a middle finger salute emoji, and move on down the road. Big Lenny

VanRiver, When I first saw your nickname, I was wondering if you were referring to the famous Chris Farley SNL skit. Absolutely one of my favorites! My my nickname is simple. I am 6'6", and my name is Lynn. My friends and family have been calling Big Lenny for years. BL

Wish me luck...my daughter got her drivers license today...Yikes!
BigLenny replied to VanRiver's topic in Watering Hole
VanRiver, I remember those days. Did it 3 times with my daughter and 2 sons. Exciting times in more ways than 1. Lemme give you little piece of information and advise. She's gonna wreck it. I know, I know, she's a good girl, and precious, and does great in school, and kind hearted, and not wild, and all those things us parents say about our beautiful daughters. But, she's gonna wreck it. I'm not saying it's gonna be a major crash, good Lord, lets pray that doesn't happen. But, your gonna come home from work and notice a big scrape on some part of the vehicle, or she's gonna slow speed rear end someone while she's talking to one of her friends, or run over a parking lot curb and dent the roller panel, or something like that. That's the information I wanted to give you. The advise I want to give you is; DON"T FREAK OUT ABOUT IT! Trust me, it doesn't help matters one bit. Lol. BigLenny -
I also use a CPAP. However, the big thing the CPAP taught me to do is sleep with my mouth shut. Once I was able to do that, I started not using it all the time, and would do 2 things that allowed me to still sleep well and quietly: 1) I taught myself to sleep on my side. Sleeping on your side decreases the natural reaction for your mouth to come open once you fall asleep like it will do when you're on your back. 2) I started using Breathright strips. The strips keep my nostrils flared so I can breath better with my mouth closed. I do as many nights sleeping on my side with a breathright strip as I do on my back with the CPAP machine. Just something I've learned.

BlueSky, Before the night fell Thursday night they they found and arrested them. A restaurant patron that was in the parking lot got a partial reading of the license plate and a good description of the get away car. They have arrested 3 individuals. The two guys that entered the restaurant, and the driver of the car. They all three have admitted to being involved, and the shooter admitted he shot the gun. And they have the weapon. Sad situation. The restaurant has been there 30 years and never had an incident. The thing that is crazy about it is; if Mr. Byrd wouldn't have been standing in line pretty much in the way of the front door cashier area, and if the robbers would've been able to walk un-obstructed up to the cashier and start robbing the place, they would've been shot right then and there. The owner keeps a loaded firearm on the shelf under the cash register, and this is a place that is filled with blue collar, redneck guys eating lunch, and a high number of them carry. My friend that was in the restaurant when it happened had a pistol in his pocket, as he always does, but the fact that after they shot Mr. Byrd, and changed their minds and ran to the car, they never entered the restaurant completely or long enough for any of the patrons inside to understand what had happened.

There is a local cafe near where I live named Frontier Diner. It is a favorite for awesome breakfast and plate lunches. I have been going there for breakfast or lunch at least once a week for 20 years. There was a span of about 10 years that I went there 3 mornings per week at 6:00AM to eat breakfast and shoot the bull with a bunch of other men that would gather there to get their days started. I've come to know the owners and wait staff as if they're family. Well, last Thursday I had a doctor visit that lasted til noon, and when i left the doctor I was starving. I had a buddy that called me and asked me to meet him at the Frontier Diner to grab lunch and discuss a business deal. I headed that way. I was about 5 minutes form the diner when that buddy called me to say he was running late, and asked me could I instead meet him at a pizza place close to where his business is. I agreed and turned around and went and met him. As we were eating and talking, my smart phone alerted a news story that said "Shooting at local restaurant, possible 1 dead". I quickly read the article, and it stated the restaurant as The Frontier Diner! I was shocked. I called a friend of mine who goes to the cafe as much as I do, and he stated he was in the restaurant when it happened, and he was just getting finished being interviewed by the police when I called. What had happened was: At 12:27PM, with the restaurant full of people, 2 guys walked into the place with masks on to rob it, and as they walked in, they shot one of the customers, Mr. Harold Byrd, who I had spoke to on numerous occasions, in the head as he was waiting in line by the front door to pay. Then the robbers freaked out, never robbed the place, and ran to their get away car and sped off. My friend who was in the restaurant said he was eating and heard a loud pop at the door, and then the waitresses who were close by started screaming and the whole place turned into chaos. He said the scene with Mr. Harold laying in the doorway, and everybody going crazy was super chaotic and intense. I looked back at my phone call with my buddy who I was having lunch with, and I hung up with him at 12:20PM, and then turned around. At that point I was about 5 min. from The Frontier Diner. It is very conceivable I would've got there about 12:25, and by the time I parked and got out and walked to the front door, I most certainly would've been right in the middle of the action. Wow! Crazy crazy deal! We never know when our last day on this beautiful earth is going to be. We must make it a point to enjoy each day to the fullest.

My bike was doing the same thing last year, and eventually left me stranded out in the country. Trailered it home thinking I had a bad coil, battery, ingnition or something. Somebody on here told me to clean the battery posts and cables. I looked at mine and they were clean as a whsitle and didn't need cleaning. I did it anyway, and the bike fired up and ran perfect and has been running perfect ever since. Fixed it. I was ready to dive into some complicated analysis of what was wrong with it.

BigLenny replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
Eck, The FJR is certainly a very cool bike. I have test ridden it a number of times, and I think I would like it with a few tweeks here and there. However, your initial post that includes all of the wants that you would like on a bike exactly describes the BMW R1200RT. My cousin has one, and he and his wife have been all over this beautiful nation on it, and they ablsolutely praise it. Heated seats. heated grips. cruise control, built in stereo, electronic supension, corners on a rail. great gas mileage. They've been to over 40 states on it. This year theyve already ridden from Arkansas to Key West and back. And in the fall, they're going out to CO, UT, AZ, NM and back. I've ridden their bike. It's freakin awesome. Just a suggestion. I like that fairing. I wonder if that thing would bolt onto an RSTD?
