  1. I hate this forum...just ordered a tach. This forum costs me a fortune in parts I see and like and then spend money on!!
  2. Few years ago someone that was a long distance rider mentioned sleeping in the sheds they put in Home Depot/Lowes parking lots. As long as they aren't locked, gets you out of the weather (but takes you out from under the stars).
  3. Worst road we've ridden is coming into Saskatchewan from Montana (Montana State 191 to Saskatchewan 4 from Malta to Swift Current). Worst potholes I've seen, and where there was asphalt it was 4" thick, fresh, and not compacted. Could feel the bike sinking into the asphalt. Road was great in Montana, terrible in Saskatchewan. For a border crossing, something should be done !
  4. Good thing Carl has given us practice on gravel roads during group rides. You should have tried a u-turn too !! Glad you got thru it!
  5. I had emailed GenerationMX last night and they responded saying they don't have it. I'll email shopcycleworld... and see what they say. Appreciate all the help ! And thanks Wayne ! Look what you are making me go thru because you have them on your bike !
  6. I've NEVER blown the fuse on my passing lights in the four years I've had the bike and I installed them myself. You might want to split the fairing and see if the fuse is fed from the battery to a relay to the lights.
  7. Looks like Dusymoto closed last November - http://www.dealernews.com/dealernews/article/dealers-try-recoup-losses-after-dustymoto-goes-dark
  8. There is a motorcycle wrecker/recycler that has been mentioned before but I can't recall the name.
  9. Wish you luck on the recovery.
  10. Struck out. :-( I called them to confirm that they actually had it in stock (Google search page that came up showed 1 in stock). They don't have it. My search continues......
  11. Yes, I have it and am very happy with it ! Thanks again on such a great deal !
  12. I found and ordered the smooth ones from : Chico Motorsports 1538 PARK AVE CHICO, CA 95928 United States http://www.chicomotorsports.com/ (800) 356-4735 Their online system showed 1 in stock. Mine Mine Mine !!!!
  13. Found this on http://www.pasadenayamaha.com/Star-Motorcycles-BILLET-MOTOR-MOUNT-BOLT-COVERS-detail.htm?productId=10650907 STR-4NK27-18-02 DESCRIPTION: Description: Billet Motor Mount Bolt Covers | STYLE: Ball Milled | MAKE: Yamaha | FITS: all Royal Star $54.99 Now in Stock STR-4NK27-18-01 DESCRIPTION: Description: Billet Motor Mount Bolt Covers | STYLE: Smooth | MAKE: Yamaha | FITS: all Royal Star $49.95 Out of Stock I want the smooth one...but now I have a part number !!!! Anyone want the ball milled they are in stock !
  14. That's the dangerous thing about being on this site and meeting members. See what you don't have and then ch-ching... you have it! I never knew I wanted those bolt covers until I saw them on Wayne's bike ! At this point, the only chrome I want is battery side covers. Will go with the flow of shiny parts. And maybe a Baron tach.... choke knob cover....braided brake/clutch/throttle cables.....
  15. There is NO alternative to the RSV !!!!! :-) I don't remember seeing you post about an accident. As long as you are okay and didn't get hurt. Details on the accident ? How badly was your old bike damaged? Is it worth buying it back from the insurance company for parts or for the extras you put on it? You could transfer over to your new bike what you want to keep and part out the rest. I agree with you on the 2010 or newer... you'll still have some warranty left in case there are any warranty related problems with the new bike - just keep in mind they don't cover everything you think they would. How "new" are you looking to go? Some brand new 2013's are still at dealers.
  16. That is great news Eck ! Enjoy every moment you can with them.
  17. You really do need a 2nd Gen in your stable !
  18. Little wiring experience is all you need to do it. For the gas tank... VERY simple - just make sure you are low on gas, makes it easier to lift and put back on. If tank is full it is heavier but it won't stop you from lifting it. Passing lights are a good place to start with doing your own work. Accomplish this and you'll have confidence in doing other work. If anyone in Ontario wants assistance doing it or rewiring it from the way the dealers do it, I'm willing to assist.
  19. I replaced my OEM with a Clearview I got from one of the members that had gone to an F4. The Clearview I have is shaped to deflect the wind, is lightly tinted (not really noticeable), and has the vent. Stock height. Nancy has noticed more airflow on her forehead (full face helmets) but no buffeting. I like having the vent because mornings where the OEM would fog up on the inside the Clearview doesn't. With the vent closed, air is deflected up the inside of the screen (top of vent has openings). As for pros/cons of the vent, if you want it closed you close it, or open it to multiple stops to get the amount of air you want. The wider screen helps with keeping some (not all) of the cold air off your hands. From reading, sounds like people that had the Clearview went to the F4 (which I think we get a discount on as well as the Clearview - check discount section). Some went Baggershield...but I think most went F4. People have said that the tint on the F4 is darker than the Clearview but I don't believe it is vastly greater...but is noticeable. Don't think you'll be disappointed in either the F4 or Clearview. Both are good replacements for the OEM.
  20. Part number would be good so I can look once in a while ... Thanks !
  21. Wayne (Wizard765) came over last night and I helped him put the engine guard braces on his bike and noticed that he has chrome covers over the bolts I have circled in the picture. Anyone know what the part number is or description for the chrome accessory that goes on the bolt head?
  22. I installed my own too. Make sure you include a relay which the dealer won't do. The write up is easy to follow. Talk to SlowRollWV and get a passing light spacer. That way when you want to get inside the fairing you don't have to take the passing lights off.
  23. Like you think the retirees are too busy to post !
  24. My vote is for ignition switch issue.
  25. Add a can of Seafoam to an almost full tank and run it until your next fill. Then do a carb tune. If you still have popping/back fire....might have to check the carbs for condition of the diaphram, jets. (I'm not a mechanic but from reading posts over the past years...this would be the simplest starting point)
