  1. Don (Freebird)...how about setting up music sharing on VR.org? Would love to browse thru 5 TB of music !
  2. If it is #7, the end often breaks off the fairing. There is a fix for this if that is what it is.
  3. Can you either post a closer picture that shows the issue or put an arrow on the picture you posted identifying the part? Parts diagram (cowling1) attached.
  4. As for the 5 year warranty...when I got my bike the chrome strip in front of the windshield had a couple broken tabs. I bought my bike used (3 months old) and the dealer that did the safety on it pointed out the issue. I tried submitting it thru Yamaha but they denied the claim saying that it could have been user damaged and not a flaw in the bike. With your bracket, the dealer may say it is because it was over tightened by the owner. Don't be surprised if the claim is declined.
  5. If anyone is thinking of getting the chrome covers from DiamondR, better to do it now rather than later. I emailed them about a set in December and just received this answer from them : "We don't have any chromed but I have 3 sets that will going to the chrome shop if you haven't already purchased them somewhere else. It will take the shop 10-14 to get them out. We will honor the sale price, after these are gone we will no longer carry them." Considering you send in your old ones and they send you a set that has already been chromed and that they aren't going to be doing it any more... you might be able to get them for less than the listed price since they aren't going to be doing them anymore. I took mine to a local shop and had the pair done for $200. I don't know if they will be continuing with the passenger hi-way pegs or anything else they currently have listed on their site, so if you are looking at stuff from DiamondR, it might be a good idea to call them.
  6. Hope you have recovered. Typical though...a man thinks nothing of aches, pains, injury....woman is the cautious one and you go to the hospital. Good thing Eileen got you in for the check-up.

    Why?

Why do threads like this get started???
  8. Sorry Carl.... I think I stole your thread.
  9. It's alright...I've been getting emails and pictures from a young woman from Russia that wants to move to Canada and move in with me. Even though I haven't responded, the last couple messages were asking me to do a money transfer to "her" so she can fly to Canada and be with me. Don't think Nancy would approve though.
  10. Congratulations !
  11. Glad you are healing up. Nothing wrong with you riding again. Once you feel the wind on your face... even after an accident...riding is great !
  12. If all you are doing is looking for a cargo trailer to pull behind the bike, I'd go with the Harbor Freight "Tag-along". On sale now for $379 and with the 20% off coupon you can get in several magazines would only cost you $300. 78" Tag-Along Trailer - 600 Lb. Capacity It has 8" trailer wheels but for the cost and the positive experiences I and several others have had with this trailer, you can't go wrong for the price. You can't build a trailer for this price.
  13. See http://www.venturerider.org/forum/gps-audio-electronics/16934-changing-2nd-gen-speakers.html?highlight=rear+speakers+wire+color For wire colours see http://www.venturerider.org/forum/watering-hole/18162-rear-speaker-mono-incorrect.html?highlight=rear+speakers+wire+color Also interesting http://www.venturerider.org/forum/second-generation-venture-tech-talk/42151-help-rsv-wiring-schematic.html
  14. Hope it goes well !
  15. Glad you are going to heal, sorry about the bike. I'll add to the other comments....next bike could be another RSV. I don't see a lot of extras on your old bike but anything you added you could transfer over to another RSV.
  16. Nice looking bike ! Congratulations !
  17. Here's an idea for you.... Since the VR Assistance list is for when you travel, there should be a map/route planning where you put in your route and the application shows all the members locations within a selectable distance away from the route. That way, you aren't picking a member to call that is hundreds of miles away from where you are, and can see who is the closest to any given point. Plan your vacation route and figure out which members to meet along the way. LOL - want any more ideas ?
  18. Road Trippers has info on Florida - https://roadtrippers.com/blog/a1a?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20141228
  19. Sorry to hear that you are shutting the other forum down.
  20. It's probably from not riding during the winter
  21. I'd prefer to have a map of North America rather than the two countries separate so I did a search and changed my signature. To have a map showing all of North America, look at Create Your Visited States and Provinces Map. You have four colours to choose from and have to choose them manually but as you can see from my signature... it is possible to do.
  22. That would be nice if it were in one place. Can you get the forum software to make coffee too ?

    Carb Sync

Think most of us use the Morgan Carb Tune - www.carbtune.com
  24. So... I believe the member who recently left had been a member since Nov 2007 and had over 4,000 posts. I don't recall seeing any posts from him that I took as offensive or aggressive and he raised some interesting topics and made some positive posts. I think several members besides myself are surprised to see him move on. He isn't the first long term member to leave and he won't be the last. From the time I joined in 2009 until now there have been some members who I thought made positive contributions to vr.org, who seemed to be one of the "core" members that have left. Some left quietly, some didn't. Some left because of conflicts with other members, some because of a few posts that had been made, and some for reasons we'll never know. With the group here, I'm sure if the recent member that left were to come back, he would be welcomed back by the members, and by Freebird, and the past will be left in the past. Just the way this group is and one of the reasons why I joined and stay. It's one of the things that new members discover here, the friendly people, people that go out of their way to help others. People who accept other people's opinions and don't attack someone else for their views. A lot has been said about Freebird (I use his handle so when I refer to "Don" it doesn't get confused with me - great name by the way). I agree Freebird has quite a job running this forum and has let a lot of threads go on even though some went against the rules of the site - because of the way the members treat each other with respect. One of the reasons the forum/threads run the way they are is because of Freebird - the example he sets with being open and honest, showing concern for members whether it is with free membership when someone is in financial difficulties or because someone has been absent for a while. I know when I've pm'd Freebird with concerns or issues, he has listened to my opinions and responded. Some administrators would ignore feedback or "slam" you for speaking your mind...but not Freebird. I'm in agreement that Freebird's comments and comparisons since getting his HD haven't been to slight the Venture....no more so than what the rest of us say about Yamaha not supporting the model. Not everyone on the site has a Venture, some have moved on...but all are accepted, no matter what you ride...and even those that no longer have a bike. Says something when people remain members long after the Venture has gone from the stable. Freebird...from your posts, pm's, meeting you in person.... you are a "class act". The reason the member left couldn't be about your attitude about the Venture. If you had a negative attitude about the Venture...you wouldn't still be running this forum.
