  1. Shows how they treat Vets. :-( Even Canadian medical care is faster than that !!!
  2. Had a bbq at Nancy's parents last night and had a great time. Nice to see the two mothers and her father together along with Nancy's kids. Today, Nancy and Norine are off to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake today. Great weather, nice temps...and just the two of them !
  3. Narrowing down our plans....Going to get a head start by leaving Friday afternoon and staying in Sarnia Friday night (Comfort Inn, Mara St). Cross the border (relatively) early Saturday morning. From Kitchener it is 12 hours to St. Peters and leaving Friday we'll be 2 hours into the ride, leaving 2 days to leisurely cover the remaining 10 hour ride. Saturday night... thinking of staying at "Glo Wood Campground" (9384 W 700 S, Pendleton, IN 46064) which is 5hr 15m from Sarnia and 30m outside of Indianapolis, leaving us a 4h 30m ride on Sunday. http://mapq.st/1Cpiqkp
  4. Some of the Ontario members are going to the International. We'll start our journey Friday afternoon (overnight in Sarnia) and arrive in St. Charles on Sunday. Others are leaving Saturday morning. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?103716-Ontario-members-to-International
  5. I find Spyder riders do wave. For those that don't...maybe they only wave back at snowmobiles ?
  6. Figured it was past the time for an update...as a few members asked me how things were going during maintenance day.... It was a year ago that Nancy made contact with her birth family and it has been a year of a lot of firsts. First time she ever spoke with her Mother, Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, 1/2 brothers/sister....first time she ever met any of them, first time talking to her Mother on the phone on Thanksgiving/Christmas/birthdays... the list goes on. As you may have seen in another thread, after being together for 10 years, Nancy and I got married last Friday and had the reception at our home on Saturday. Nancy's birth mother (Norine) flew in from Edmonton on Thursday and is staying with us until this Thursday. It was amazing to have Nancy's adopted parents (Ed and Joyce) and birth other with us for the ceremony on Friday. At the reception Norine was initially surprised when VR members introduced to her told her they knew the the story. Considering this is only the second time that Nancy and Norine have physically been together (other than at birth) the two of them act like mother and daughter that have been together forever. I'm back to work and Nancy is off this week to spend time with her mother to talk and really get to know each other....but the bond between them couldn't be stronger. I know there will be a lot of tears when Norine has to get on the plane to head home on Thursday. After dinner last night I took Norine for a ride on my bike and afterwards the three of us sat on the deck talking. Tonight we are going to Ed and Joyce's for dinner. This week long visit with Norine is going way too fast. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can. With Nancy and I getting married we've been in front of the camera rather than behind it. This saga in our life has been amazing. I couldn't be happier for Nancy and Norine.
  7. I wave at motorcycle cops too....some will wave back.
  8. Some riders won't like that you don't wave...but does it really matter? l wave to other bikers...even sport bike riders, Wings and Harleys. I consider Spyders and trikes to be bikers and wave at them too. I don't think I've ever seen a Spyder rider not wave back. Scooters I'll wave to most of the time. If someone doesn't wave back...I don't care, I did my part. Whether I'm on the bike or in the car, if I see a solo biker stopped at the side of the road I'll stop and ask if they are okay or need any help. I don't care what type of bike it is.
  9. Very nice !!!! You renting out beds at the International ?
  10. A thought on possible anti-freeze in the oil....when you took the bike in for the coolant change, did they also do an oil change? If they aren't familiar with the Venture....wondering if they had the oil filler cover off and then pulled the freeze plugs (behind false fins). That is one way anti-freeze could have mixed with oil. If they aren't familiar with Ventures, they wouldn't know what happens when you pull the freeze plugs and them saying "they had issues with the coolant; splashed everywhere" would explain that. And if they pulled the freeze plugs before draining the rad...they would have quite the mess !
  11. Thank you to all that attended. Glad everyone had enough food and enjoyed themselves. Sorry things were a little tight for seating but the head count I heard was 89 people attended. We spent Sunday morning folding up tables and chairs and cleaning up....then took Nancy's birth mother out for a steak dinner for all the work she did in the kitchen helping us prep the food. Today, I'm back to work but Nancy is off this week so she can spend time with her mother (she flies back to Edmonton Thursday evening). I'll post some wedding pictures once we have time to go thru them. Again....thank you to my Venture family that came to celebrate our marriage !
  12. Because it is thin metal you might get a rattle from it. I put a little stick on rubber behind it where it was making contact
  13. Sorry to hear about your crash but glad you are okay.
  14. As I recall...getting over the top of the rad was the most difficult part.
  15. How did the first batch work out? Are you going to have some labels made? What are you calling your home brewery?
  16. By any chance...when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?
  17. Might sound strange but worked. Was riding today and the flashers were fast when idling. So...I turned the idle up a bit....and fixed the issue. Thinking my idle was too low. I only bumped it up maybe 50-75 rpm but the signals were fine afterwards.
  18. Happy anniversary !!!!!!
  19. Glad the surgery went well !
  20. If you read the thread I did about the Tag-Along... one of the things I did was have a neighbour add mounting brackets to the frame so I could move the box back about 4". Helps to balance the weight and be able to adjust the tongue weight. With the Tag-Along I usually run 30psi in the rear shock.
  21. Our condolences to you and your family.
  22. Wow. Sorry to see that. As mentioned....remove the tree in a safe way. I'd go with cutting it up as well. Might be different in person than what is shown in the pictures.
  23. Make sure you do the customer recommendations on the trailer. I posted a thread listing them on vr.org.
  24. Congratulations !
