  1. Saw on the news that there were tornadoes in multiple States today. Hope our members and their families are safe and didn't have any losses.
  2. I've highlighted what I think you are talking about
  3. He is good with two wheels...probably much better when three are involved ! 50% more !
  4. A great site ! Recently Wayne (Wizard765) helped me replace my OEM brake hoses with SS braided.
  5. From the parts diagram (Cowling 1) I believe you are referring to #8 - bolt, flange 95807-06012

I didn't know Jim but sorry to hear this. Condolences to his family.
  7. Couple things (from a non-mechanic)... - if your oil is too high (and take it you checked with the bike level. A 2x4 under the kickstand gets the bike almost straight up) not only will some drip from the vent tube but you'll get oil in your air filter boxes. Good to check them (you have to take off or loosen the lower cowling to take the boxes off) - coolant bottle should be be checked with the bike up straight. Good to do it when you check the oil level - 6,000 miles in 2 years? Fan shouldn't come on with only a 12 mile ride unless you idled for a long time with the choke on before riding out. And if you rode with the choke on the mixture would be different and I would think make the engine run hotter. Being in Tennessee....you should be out riding more ! After checking the above mentioned items, go for another ride and see if things are running hot again. If it is...I'd agree with Bob...you are within your warranty so let the dealer figure it out. Comment that others could talk about....if the bike is running on three cylinders, would the bike run hotter than normal? 3 cylinders doing the work of 4 ?
  8. I think one of the reasons people are saying no tickets is because of the condition of the bike. From the pictures it looks like it just came out of the factory, and all that bling ! Don't hide any of it ! Your last bike was unique. Can't be duplicated.
  9. Now that Cowpuc has a pristine bike...kept in amazing condition by Larry all these years... Sorry for the typo...still early morning....add STICKERS or not ?
  10. I installed an LED headlight which is a very bright white and seems to have good coverage. I noticed thought that it causes interference with the FM radio and CB. The antenna wires don't go anywhere near the fairing so not sure how it is interfering. I'll move some of the wiring around to see if the headlight wire is too close to something. The LED light doesn't have an H3 connector on it so I purchased one separately and soldered it in so if I have to resort back to a standard bulb it is easy. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-Lumen-Motorcycle-Head-light-Bulb-H4-H7-H6-p43t-p15d-25-1-BA20d-IP68-6/32332167237.html
  11. Very glad you and your family are safe.
  12. I'd go with this option first. Expect the worst and narrow it down. Thinking you are lucky with something minor, starting it (clunks are usually not a good thing) could do a lot of damage.
  13. If the tabs are all there....then it shouldn't be lifting. Possible the receivers where the tabs fit in are broken?
  14. Posted this comment in the other thread....but could you use a braided SS cable to avoid using foil?
  15. Could you have used a braided SS brake cable instead of wrapping in foil?
  16. Sounds like you have the common broken tabs. See http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?516-Repair-of-chrome-windshield-trim to repair them.
  17. Really nice looking bike ! A LOT of extras ! Have to ask .... is it the lighting or are the passenger grab bars chromed?
  18. LOL - sorry....must have been self inflicted ! If you were running Windows 7 or 8 a little icon would have popped up on the bottom right of your screen saying you were eligible for a Windows 10 update. If you said yes....well....ya did it to yourself ! I find Windows 10 to be similar to Windows 7. No one liked Windows 8 but if you had it, Windows 10 is far easier to work with. Runs faster than Windows 7 and 8. Just make sure that if you were running an anti-virus like McAfee or anything else that you uninstall it and use the one that comes with Windows (Security Essentials/Defender - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/security-essentials-product-information#tabs1=overview). You might have to enable it but get rid of your other antiviruses as they or running two at the same time will slow it down. The update should have left all your programs installed and not wiped anything.
  19. I remember seeing where someone had gutted a key fob and mounted it inside the plastic around the ignition key and ran a wire to a button. Simple and inexpensive solution.
  20. The design of the head and spark plugs probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Mind you, Ford still sells the two piece design on the plugs. Definitely change them out to another brand that is a one piece design.
  21. Congrats on the new bike !
  22. Easy test on the levers... push forward on them (one at a time so you can operate the cruise) and see if racts better. Other than that....it's been mentioned that the cruise works on vacuum. Possible you have a kink in the vacuum line that connects to the cruise? You have been inside the fairing a fair bit (possibly lowers?). Other than that....add more chrome, LED tail ights....and problem will go away. Shiny stuff never hurts !
  23. I'd say if it has a Triton motor, you can check the plugs and if they are Motorcraft (Ford) change them out and you'll be fine. I would consider the plugs to be a minor consideration in the overall condition of the vehicle. Simple to change the plugs.
  24. Depends on how they were wired up. They may have put the switch somewhere else or wired without the switch. The switch is there in case a State doesn't allow them to be on at certain times. I have mine wired so they are "always on" but with a switch (toggle) in the location (backside of the fairing beside the aux power plug).
  25. Skydoc might be able to answer that question. I am in the process of installing SS lines I received from on my RSV.
