  1. We'll have to pass on the ride as well. The event is likely to take several hours and it wouldn't be good to leave our pup crated so long. Now if the dinner were closer to Kitchener....we'd meet you there. But an all day event... can't do it.
  2. I'd have to say no to adding anything with more than three wheels.
  3. Will keep this in mind for Monday. We are interested....but will be more definite once a direction is decided.
  4. Congratulations ! Here's to a long and healthy retirement !
  5. What is Skid's current condition?
  6. Just wanted to check if it had anything to do with my leading the group. Phone? What phone ?
  7. I've never taken the trunk supports off but after six years and 80,000 km started hearing rattling from the back end. Turns out two bolts (one on each side) that attach the supports to the fender were loose. Tightened them up and no more rattle. Just a reminder that mid-to-late season is a good chance to check your bolts to make sure nothing has loosened over the season.
  8. Where were the close calls? But it hung onto the trunk for about 42.3 miles/68.1 km! I dare anyone to beat this...must be a record !
  9. One time....I leave something loose on the bike for the first time ever and I'll never live it down (right Robin?). Replacement WITH insurance will be $250 but they'll send me either a brand new phone or a refurb. Either way, I'll get a phone that I know will work and not replace the screen and "hope" it still works.
  10. Made it home by 1:30pm today. Nice weather for riding ! Thank you to the organizers of the WNY rally ! For anyone that hasn't been to the rally in the past, it is one of the "must do" rallies every year !! For those that know about my "issue" with my cell phone.... I went to the store where I bought it and asked if I could still add insurance to it (being 11 days old) and sure enough, I was able to get the insurance. Good thing they added it without looking at it's "current" condition. :-) I'll wait a few days and then "try out" the insurance on the phone.
  11. I take offence at what you said...Canadians are people of COLOUR !
  12. Does it look like a cable a previous owner ran? Or original from the factory? Can you tell?
  13. What is the voltage reading on the battery with the bike off? Could be a bad battery. Hook up the battery tender and read voltage...does the battery voltage go up or down? (with bike off)
  14. 23 members in WI ....hopefully someone can show you the CarbonOne lift adapter...great purchase to allow you to work on and even store your bike. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/memberlist.php?s=&securitytoken=1471890543-e0f4a577c327fb6337a8d9e29f468151441715d6&do=getall&ausername=&homepage=&field8=&field2=&field19=49&field19_opt=&field5=0&field5_opt=&field4=&field7=&field13=&field11=&field23=&field21=0&field15=&icq=&aim=&msn=&yahoo=&skype=&postslower=&postsupper=&joindateafter=&joindatebefore=&lastpostafter=&lastpostbefore=&sort=username&order=&perpage= Lift adapter - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=15&title=carbon-one-freestanding-lift-adapter&cat=15
  15. I see you have an 08 Venture S wth 25K miles... My view.... Yes, Bridgestone's don't give you the best ride. People that have switched to other brands mention that they saw a difference in ride/handling right away. Going to a 130 tire while making the bike "feel" less top heavy might make it feel unstable at higher speeds. For me, I went with the stock sizes front and back. Lowering/leveling links - usually done by people so they can plant their feet on the ground. At your height you probably don't have this issue. I know you've only had your bike a few weeks but I'd suggest doing some more miles on it before you start changing the height of the bike. I found after riding for a while the bike felt less top heavy as I got used to it. Couple questions for you.... What is the date code on the Bridgestone? You mentioned that it looked new but an old Bridgestone rides worse than a newer Bridgestone - age of the rubber rather than any changes in the newer years (don't think they changed it at all) The Metzler 880...if you have a lift and adapter...lift the bike and inspect the tread area on the tire. Several people have had issues with chunks of tread breaking off. Rotate it slowly and check rim to rim for any "defects" While you have the bike on the lift....inspect the rear shock. Wondering if you've felt like the back end was bottoming out when riding which would indicate a failed shock. You can check the bottom of the shock to see if it is oily/greasy but that comes with age as well. What air pressure do you run in your shocks front and back? An easy way to lift the rear a bit to see how it feels is to increase the air in the rear shock but this will also stiffen the ride. What pressure do you have in the front shocks? Raising the rear will also raise the centre of gravity and might make it feel more top heavy. The questions are geared toward your safety and also either avoiding or limiting expenses in trying to alter the height. With tires....when you go to replace them, to me the only way to go is Dunlop E3's front and back in the stock sizes. I think Dunlop 404's while listed as a tire for the RSV are for lighter bikes and this causes them to wear faster on a 800+ lb bike plus rider and passenger. Avon's have a number of reports of sidewall cracking. Metzler's "chunk". Dunlop E3's...I don't recall seeing any complaints about them and they last (harder rubber in centre of tread pattern).
  16. I agree with everyone else....report it to the school and if necessary the police. Put it this way....if you don't and the treatment of your daughter continues, how would you feel if she or one of her friends committed suicide because of those boys? If you don't take action something more drastic could result. As far as telling the school what your daughter did...if you told the school what the boys actions and words have driven your daughter to do they would take it very seriously.
  17. With the WNY rally starting on Thursday (registration on Wednesday).... heading down to Chaffee on Wednesday Aug 24th. Phil (Sleepy2) and I are meeting in Brantford at the service centre at 403 and Garden Ave at 10am. Kickstands up shortly afterwards and will be at QEW and Casablanca at 11am. Quick stop...leaving at about 11:20. Crossing at Niagara Falls Rainbow bridge at noon or Fort Erie Peace bridge at 12:30. Should put us in Chaffee between 1:30 and 2pm Plans flexible at this moment depending on who else wants to join us.
  18. The Vulcans are a nice bike.
  19. With all the flooding in Louisiana...wondering how our members from that State are doing - hopefully high and dry and their families safe. 20. Syncing the carbs will help with the popping sound.
  21. What tires did you have before?
  22. Glad you had a safe trip !
  23. New Ram Mount for my GoPro. This one is a mirror mount so it lets me put the GoPro off the left edge of the windscreen. Cleaned the threads and mirror back pivots and sprayed with Fluid Film. Tomorrow.... replace the Silverstar Ultra headlight bulb with an LED. Tried a Chinese LED bulb but had too much interference on the radio. Will also switch back to the Clearview windscreen.
  24. The pads on my "old" lift are only 12" long which means it just fits under the adapter. Always worries me when I lift the bike and I usually triple check to make sure the lift pads are against the safety bar. I've since purchased a lift that has 17" pads and removed the safety bar.
