And you can keep him !

After trying to fit the tire, I confirmed what I already knew about having to raise the fender...but the rear support bracket for the fender would be in the way (actually pressed against the tire) and I'd have to cut it off and relocated it. Also, raising the fender pressed against the box so the fender would have to be cut/modified to fit 2" higher. Even getting different fenders, the brackets would have to be relocated. Besides what would be necessary to make it fit, I read multiple comments that basically said there was no reason to go to 12" tires on this trailer. 8" is sufficient. Yes the trailer this was modeled after (Piggybacker) comes with 12" tires, but it was designed for it...and the Tag-Along doesn't really benefit from it. And certainly any small gain wouldn't be worth all the effort to fit the 12" wheels on.

Canadian sniper makes 3.54 km or 2.2 mile kill shot - a record
XV1100SE replied to XV1100SE's topic in Watering Hole
Saw that one after I posted this thread. Apologies. -
Not smearing it in anyone's faces. Just a reminder to people of things that came from Canada that most people forget (even Canadians). Without a doubt, America, Britain, France, and all the countries have contributed to the world in areas of science, mathematics, the Arts, inventions, music..... Just mentioning some of the common everyday things that people don't know came from Canada....things that even Canadians aren't aware of.

No offense to my friends here....but Hollywood over does so many things..."based on a true story"... and it's ra ra this and ra ra that.... and the next thing you know the sniper killed 10 people at 5km with one bullet. Lots of explosions, maybe an alien or two....and of course the nationality of the "hero" is changed. And by the way....The following (and many many more) are all from Canada (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_inventions) : - basketball originated in Canada - The Superman character was co-created by Canadian artist Joseph Shuster. - the telephone was created in Canada with the first call made between Brantford Ontario and Paris Ontario - in the Lone Ranger tv series years ago, Tonto was born on the 6th Nations reserve near Brantford Ontario - Walkie Talkie - Amplitude modulation - Canola - Standard Time - Cesium Beam atomic clock - the pager and Blackberry - hydrofoil boat - first commercial jetliner design - snowmobile - snow shoes - variable-pitch propeller - electric wheel chair - prostetic hand - snow blower and rotary snow plow for rail roads - military gas mask - sonar - G-suit - lacrosse - ice hockey (of course) - followed by the hard jock strap and the goalie mask (not sure which one was first) - instant replays - five pin bowling - Trivial Persuit - Pablum - Easy Off oven cleaner - garbage bags - Caesar cocktail - cardiac pacemaker - alkaline battery - caulking gun - egg carton - electric oven - paint rollers - Robertson screw driver - Collerete ladder (fire fighting) - Canadarm - maple syrup - ginger ale - news print - electron microscope ...and our contributions to music - Celine Dione, Neil Young, Rush, Guy Lombardo, Hank Snow, Paul Anka, The Guess Who, Bruce Cockburn, Anne Murray, Bachman Turner Overdrive, - I'll link rather than list - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Canada, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music_of_Canada ... and to Hollywood - Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, Jim Carrey, James Cameron, Donald Sutherland, Keanu Reeves, Mike Meyers, Kim Cattral, William Shatner, Dan Akroyd, Michael J. Fox, Martin Short, Pamela Anderson, John Candy, Rich Little, Mary Pickford...... On July 1st....Canada celebrates our 150th anniversary as an independent nation. Join us in a toast ! Oh....and did I also mention....the record for the longest kill by a sniper? CANADIAN !!!!!
-
Now if it was someone from South of Canada that made the shot....they'd be making a movie about it ! :-p

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-canadian-sniper-20170624-story.html https://www.vox.com/world/2017/6/25/...iles-isis-iraq The sniper in the second link says that it is 90-95% SKILL and 5-10% luck. What I like is the credit that is given to the spotter.

Canadian snipers hold 3 of the past 5 record kill shots. Don't mess with our military ! 3,540 meters, or almost 2.2 miles, setting a record for the longest kill shot in military history. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-canadian-sniper-20170624-story.html https://www.vox.com/world/2017/6/25/15863472/canada-sniper-record-two-miles-isis-iraq

From further reading...I'll stay with the 8" wheels
-
The Tag-Along comes with 8" wheels and I've read where people have upgraded to 12" so thought I'd do the same. Picked up a 12" wheel assembly and was expecting that I'd have to raise the fender to make it fit. The rear fender mount is too close in though. For car tires, you can get different sidewall sizes. Do trailer tires also have different sidewall heights? The tires on the assembly I picked up are 6ply C rating. Anyone else put 12" tires on their Tag-Along and did you have any issues other than the fender?

Our condolences to you and your family.

Harbor Freight Tag-along in store price of $299.
XV1100SE replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Trailer Talk
That's a good price and the Tag-a-long is a pretty decent trailer. For anyone that picks one up, read the customer comments or search here for "Tag-a-long" and you'll see there are a few things you can do to improve a couple things. Very minimal (like rubber bushings where the trailer light wires come thru the frame, rubber at one of the spring points). -
I'd hope the thread doesn't get shut down. There weren't really comments about controlling guns...and now that you've clarified your intent, hopefully we can get back on track. Been a good discussion though. Politicians tell the voters what they want to hear, even if they have no intentions of following thru on their promises. When you consider they are one voice, and bills get watered down to meet the lowest common denominator to get them passed. As for media...depends on which channel you use. They tend to slant the news based on who the channel supports rather than a fair presentation of the facts. I've given up on watching CNN (especially when there is a catastrophy because they report as fact things that are only rumours, far too early pronouncing things without any evidence being available. And you are right, special interest groups have to much say in what gets passed. Limits on how long someone can "serve the people" might just spread the wealth to the next representative but would hopefully lessen the influence of big business and others, and put the power back to the people. Keep the talk politicians in general, not pro or con against any one party. Lets get away from talking about guns, murders, etc and focus on how you see the media responses and a general discussion of the state of politics and the country.

Some would feel that it was an invasion of privacy of the State. Consider some States people don't show their ID to vote (so I heard). Concern is security. If the "bad guys" can hack into corporations, even the Pentagon...talk about rigging an election ! Your Legislatures are supposed to vote based on their constituents....no, wait....vote with their conscience...no that's not it....vote the way their Party tells them to? Oh....and don't forget the special interests groups (lobby groups) and people and corporations that "contribute" to their elections and line their pockets. You want to put the "ruling class" (who usually are NOT representative of the majority of people they represent and "serve") out of a job and/or reduce their incomes? Won't happen. Those in power to change the way things are done don't want to make changes to improve the lives of the people they represent but are self interested in making their own lives better.

New to Forum- a few questions
XV1100SE replied to Scribz's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
2) "I" basket was the "fix". I believe this started from the factory in 2009. There was another "fix" posted about running an oil line into the clutch basket area but I don't recall seeing a long term report. (update - see http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86410-Whine-question) 3) Rotella T6 5W-40 -
I agree with the above, but the rest, although I agree with your sentiments to a certain extent, have to say that because of the U.S. Constitution and it's Amendments, it is the law of the land so to speak. Until enough Legislators and the public are in a majority to repeal or change the Amendments it is what it is. As much as I agree with your opinion on what is necessary in the U.S.A., with you and I being Canadian, it isn't up to us to tell them how to "fix" things. For example...health insurance and medical coverage in the U.S. and Canada are very different in application. They don't tell us that our system is wrong and we need to go to their type of system, because they disagree our tax dollars funding the system. (this way people who earn the most contribute to support the lower income earners to an equal level of medical care, not a two tiered system). Disagreeing with "that" Amendment as you and I both do, I do not have a problem with Americans defending their Constitution and Amendments. Majority rules so to speak and to debate how access increases the number of murders and violence isn't going to go anywhere. Just as them telling us to change our Constitution and Charter protecting the French language won't make traction with us. I'm sure the moderators are keeping an eye on this thread so stay away from "gun control" discussions and we might be okay to continue. The issue from the OP is really about the violence and senseless killings. Not the manner in which they are committed. The stats I posted earlier were homicides by all means. Keep it to that.

Harley has been making motors for a long time...if they haven't figured out the heat issue it is unlikely Yamaha has.

Take two bikes priced at say $10,000. Both at 100,000 miles, one is an air cooled V-twin, the other a liquid cooled 4 cylinder, both properly maintained. Which one would you think has more life left in it? Same bike, I'd take the 4 cylinder. At a stop, it only makes sense that an air cooled bike would run hotter. Cooling requires air flow. Yes a 4 cylinder can run hot but then then the fan kicks in and lowers the temperature. An air cooled will just continue to get hotter.

Gang on gang....Toronto is the same size...should be the same issues. What is different ? We should have the freedom to do what we want where we want when we want within sociably acceptable manners. We shouldn't be worried about our safety in any neighbourhood. AND....the 3rd Gen should be a liquid cooled V4 with shaft drive !

From the article : "...Waterloo Region's crime rate is up because there has been an increase in property crimes such as identity fraud, break and enters and thefts of cars.... ...The Statistics Canada report released Wednesday shows crime went up in 2015 in more cities across the country than it decreased, the first time in 12 years....Violent crime has also increased. Among the crimes contributing to the increase are person-on-person robberies, assault and weapons offences, said Larkin. The national study labels severe crime as homicide, aggravated assault and sexual assault. Crime severity is measured annually by the national agency to better assess if crime is getting more or less severe over time. The statistics measure the mix of crime based on average prison sentences handed down for convictions." Same newspaper "police report for yesterday" (nothing else in the way of crimes warranted making the news) : "WATERLOO — Police are investigating after a report of a robbery in the area of Hickory and Hemlock streets late Saturday night. Police say two suspects approached a man who was walking the area at about 11:50 p.m. and stole an undisclosed amount of money. They were last seen southbound on Hemlock Street toward University Avenue. The victim was not injured. ....Police are investigating the possibility the incident may be connected with an attempted robbery that happened about 20 minutes later in the area of Hickory and Hazel streets." From Toronto, posted with today's date : "Police have arrested 120 people in a co-ordinated series of overnight raids targeting a Toronto gang, Chief Mark Saunders said Thursday. Raids by 800 police officers across the province resulted in 660 charges against people believed associated with the Driftwood Crips, Saunders told a midday news conference at Toronto police headquarters. The charges relate to criminal organizations, attempted murder, trafficking firearms, kidnapping conspiracies, firearms possession, robbery and drug trafficking of various substances, including fentanyl, Saunders said." From Chicago, posted with today's date : "Two in custody after Norwood Park home invasion" "Two facing charges after police chase ends in Bridgeview"" "Man charged with fatal shooting during McHenry home invasion" "WEEK IN REVIEW: At least 19 killed in Chicago, including 12-year-old girl allegedly beaten and stabbed by mom's ex.
