    Horns

If there was room to install one of these....https://hornblasters.com/collections/complete-kits/Train-Horn-Kit (train air horn) They have what looks like a Stebel but show it as 123db Recent horn review - https://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-horns/
  2. 2009 Venture, no accidents, no claims. $1 million liability, full fire/theft/collision with $500 deductible, $2500 in "accessories", with Riders Plus/Echelon. $1,074 (including taxes) a year which is actually less than a year ago.
  3. I stand corrected. It is Monday, fingers reversed what my mind was telling them, but was consistent ....S - V - T - C
  4. I'd like to know which focus groups they went to on the engine though. Go to a v-twin group and that is the answer you get. Go to a group riding liquid cooled 4 cylinders and that is the answer you'll get. I reiterate though....the SVCT is the best on the touring market today, but do lament what could have been. All those bells and whistles plus a V4? Mind you, they wanted a low centre of gravity and they get that with the V-twin. Win-win for Yamaha. Anyone looking at Harley or other twin touring bike has to look at the SVCT and it should come out on top for value. Sorry Freebird...kind of off your original topic....but do want new owners of the SVCT know that I/we do like their ride. I read several pages of the VOG link....until it became repetitive then skipped to the end....where they had to lock the thread because of the bashing going on. Never see those kind of attacks on other members here.
  5. If you asked any member of this forum if the SVCT is the best bike available on the market today, you'll probably get a 99% "YES!" Ask the same members if Yamaha should have put a 4 cylinder in it, again, you'll get a resounding "YES". Owners of the 2018 SVCT have nothing to defend about buying one. Great bike by design, mechanically, and looks. If I were in the market for a new touring bike it would be on the top of my list too. Short answer....some members spat is with Yamaha, NOT with SVCT owners.
  6. Slightly different topic but it does involve oil. Like many here I put SeaFoam in my gas periodically. SeaFoam motor treatment says you can also use it in your crankcase to clean out gunk that collects in the motor. My question is... with a wet clutch, is SeaFoam in the crankcase (some added to the oil a few hundred miles before an oil change) a good idea?
  7. That time of the year when a lot of bikes are on the road. Saw this news article about a freak accident - a tree falling and killing two riders in Michigan. Ride safe ! Be aware of your surroundings. Check your bike for loose bolts, oil level, coolant (more than 2 years old and overflow), tires..... http://fox17online.com/2018/05/28/falling-branch-kills-two-bikers-witness-recalls-rendering-aid/
  8. For the braided lines check the classifieds or contact Earl (SkyDoc). He makes/sells them
  9. Sorry to hear this news. Condolences to the family

From his profile I'd say it is an 84.
  11. Glad you enjoyed the ride ! Looking great ! Was hoping you'd make it to Grimsby on Saturday for the meet 'n Greet at Dogmans.

Don't tell anyone BUT....from my reading and looking at stats previously I'll admit that I believe the 1st Gens are quicker. Strictly my opinion and others may disagree. Of the 1st Gens....rumour has it the blue ones are quickest.
  13. Speedo isn't a good comparison. 2nd (and 1st?) Gen speedo's are off by 8%. 60mph isn't a tru 60mph on a 2nd Gen. Speed on a GPS would be more accurate.

    ....2nd Gen passes him ! :-p

  16. Actually a lot of us with 2nd Gens use Rotella T6. Wet clutch and it works nicely, is less expensive than some of the other oils. Not a plug for Rotella....just saying. Possible for the SVCT ?
  17. Was just looking for a generalized response. Agree that there are good motors and bad ones....always has been. Just interested in a comment of if you were looking to purchase a used bike and it had a v-twin (or V4)... what would you consider to be high mileage. Thinking resale value. And I agree with you that properly maintained with regular oil changes a motor could last well beyond what some would consider to be high mileage. But given you didn't know the maintenance on a bike, would you reduce the price or consider a v-twin that had 100,000 miles? In general, regardless of manufacturer or specific engine. I know that some Harley owners might consider 60,000 miles to be high, simply because an engine overhaul is close to be being required. (not necessarily current Harley motor but previously).
  18. From your perspective, would you say that 100k miles is high mileage? Not a dig by any means. Just wondering....if you found a bike with that motor and it had 100k miles, would you say it was a high mileage bike? To be fair so you know where the question is coming from....some of us would say that on the V4 100k miles is "broken in", high mileage would be closer to 200k to 250k miles. I've had v-twins before (last one was a '99 Virago 1100 SE - hence my screen name of XV1100SE - that I had from new in '99 until 2011) and put about 70,000 km on it. My view at that time was that 70k km was getting into the "high mileage range and better to sell it before the resale value took a big hit. Is this a true evaluation of mileage on a v-twin motor or a fallacy? Open to comments from those more knowledgable than myself. EDIT - did a search and the common number seems to be between 75k and 100k miles for a v-twin. These numbers were posted around the 2010 time frame frame.
  19. Just to summarize.... Anyone with an SVCT or Eluder....great bike ! Enjoy the ride and you are part of the Venture family. The rest of us Gen 1 and Gen 2 will still wonder about "what might have been" but it is what it is and life goes on. From ride reports Yamaha put a good engine in the '18 model that surpasses other v-twin touring bikes and beats the competition.
  20. They have a facebook page. 58 x 5 star, 16 x 1 star https://www.facebook.com/pg/DestinationPowersports/reviews/ Web page says they pay cash for all makes.... https://www.destination-powersports.com/
  21. I was thinking the same thing. As for all of us messaging the dealer....it has been done before to show the power of a group. They have a part on their web page for customer reviews?
  22. I would still call Yamaha. They CAN put pressure on the dealer because they are a YAMAHA dealer and how the dealer treats customers is a reflection on them as well. Get the Yamaha Rep involved to follow-up with the dealer.
  23. Have you called Yamaha? I would push it to them and get them to enquire at the dealer what is going on
