  1. The 2007 Mustang GT I had was a Triton V8...Terrible design on the spark plugs. When I replaced them 4 broke off even after spraying cleaner into the plug area. Had to get a plug removal tool (which worked well - at least there is a tool to remove them since it is such a common issue with the OEM 2 peice design of the plugs). Put in one piece aftermarket plugs (at $20 a plug) before I sold it. Was going thru coils (at $80 a plug). For putting the Venture in the truck bed...think it is @EtRider (Ed) that has a neat system in his bed that lifts the Venture up and into the bed. Don't know the manufacturer of it but it is very neat way to lift the bike. Hopefully he can post a link to it.
  2. Glad you faired better than the bird !
  3. Try Performance Cycle in Cambridge. I replaced front and back on my Gen2 a couple months ago and their supplier still had inventory. Is that the right size? 140/90/16? Or is it 150/90/16 ? Performance Cycle 2630 Beaverdale Rd, Cambridge, ON N3H 4R6 519-658-5819
  4. 2nd Gen...I put the front two bolts in first as well and the one by the seat in last. To align the front ones make sure the tank is straight and lift the front of the tank on the side you are having issues with. This will help align the bolt.
  5. Might be counter to what some say but....I find going too slow makes it harder to do the tight "slow" speed maneuvers. Going slow straight....I'll work clutch/throttle/rear brake...but doing a u-turn I'll try to have a bit of pace going into it. Think of u-turns as just two sharp turns in one. A tight 180 degree turn/road.... Easier to make the turn with some pace/speed. If you are talking tight (little room) maneuvers remember that working the rear brake/throttle will want to keep you straight up and take away any lean you may have into the turn. Other thing to do is to not over-think it. You'll find the bikes feel "lighter" as you get experience. Some have gone to narrower front wheels but this impacts your long distance riding. I can't comment on lowering kits. If you are practicing, one thing you can do is use some pipe insulation on the guards to prevent/reduce scratches/scrapes.
  6. To a long and healthy retirement !
  7. Welcome to the forum ! Enjoy your bike !
  8. Is there a rubber band you can put between the mount and the crash bar? That would take up the space and keep it from slipping.
  9. RSTD (Tour Deluxe) doesn't have the cowling that the RSV (Venture) unless a previous owner took one from an RSV and put it on the RSTD. The fork mounted wind deflectors attach to the brace between the forks. Should be 4 screw holes on the bottom side of the brace. I'll see if I can take and post a couple pictures tonight.
  10. I have a spare set of OEM fork deflectors. I replaced mine with stainless. If you need a set, let me know and we can see what we can work out.
  11. Stay safe, high, and dry !!!
  12. Glad it all worked out for you. Just keep being yourself and doing what you have been done. Being blunt often isn't accepted by higher ups but at least your company is listening and giving you free rein to get things done.
  13. With my 2nd Gen when I took it in for service during warranty I removed the receiver and put the OEM bracket back on.
  14. As a reminder....this thread title is about Paul's M&G. People interested in the M&G have to read thru your "who's paying" and what's for dinner just to get to the points related to Paul's M&G. I'd suggest that the next person to go off topic pay for ice cream for everyone attends.
  15. Good thing you have a big garage to lay all the parts out ! Hopefully not too many left over parts after you get it all back together.
  16. Dare I say it? You said this before about the Harley or the '05 RSV....and then the blinging began. Once you do one or two additions it will snowball.
  17. I saw where you said it was your turn to buy so definitely attend !
  18. Can we get this back on topic? Paul's M&G is a good event to attend. Old (Carl) and new members should attend. Good chance to rekindle some friendships and for new members to meet local members.
  19. With the post about a camshaft problem and one other post about an issue experienced by a rider from NJ in Quebec... did you ask the dealer if there are any recalls or TSB's for the SVTC ? So far only the two posts on issues. Hope it is isolated but would be good to see if Yamaha knows about this or if there really is potential issue. Really like the picture you posted of the 2nd and 3rd Gen beside each other. The 3rd Gen looks great ! Comparing the two side by side like that, Yamaha did a really nice job on the 3rd Gen !
  20. Would be interesting to hear Eileen's take on the pillion position - seat comfort, wind, etc....
  21. Will keep an eye out for updates.
  22. Glad the two of you weren't seriously hurt.
