I just purchased one from Pioneer Motorsports. Chad is great to deal with. $227 They are in Caffee NY and give us a 15% discount off list. Just tell them you are a member here. What color are you looking for?

The lift adapter mounts on the bottom of the bike and uses a rod to go thru the centre stand mount for safety. With a motor cycle jack you centre it under the bike and push until it hits the bar on the other side. Then it is safe to lift the bike. The legs get bolted onto the adapter once you get the bike up in the air. Lower the bike down and the legs support the bike. You can then take the lift out from under neath. A lift won't fit without something to hit the bike's frame in the right spots. Carbon One provides an info sheet with the lift. -

Welcome as a member ! As you've seen, for the short time this thread has been on here you get lots of help from the members ! Definitely pick up the Carbon_One lift adapter with legs. Due to the way pipes run you need it in order to lift the bike to work on it. Some people have used hockey pucks but the lift adapter makes it simple, safe... and with the legs is a great way to store the bike. Enjoy the ride ! -

If you go to a Yamaha dealer site go to the OEM accessories. From there you can go thru sub menu's to choose the bike you are looking for. Look for "Royal Star Venture". eg http://www.pioneermotorsport.com/catalog_items.asp?pagenum=1&uTotalRecords=&uLimitPartName=&uLimitPartNumber=&prodtree=419-420-445-634&imgview=y For Yamaha U.S... go to http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/parts/home.aspx. Choose : Product Line - Motorcycle Year - 2009 Model - Royal Star Venture S (light yellowish gray metallic 9) - XVZ13TFSY On the left you get a menu where you can get to parts break downs. For accessories... go to http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acsubcontaineritems/5/4/83/404/all/1.aspx. Bike is a Royal Star/Royal Star Venture (or RSV). You can then either do a search online for the part number or call a dealer for a price. From the History page you'll see that the 2009 you have falls into the "2nd Generation" Venture... some say the faster of the Generations.... :-) 1999 to current are all pretty much the same with some minor differences (seats). The Royal Star Venture "S" has extra chrome. Hope this helps ! -

For parts I use Pioneer Motorsports out of Chaffee NY. I just recently ordered passing lamps and mount for $240. They offer VentureRider members a 15% discount. Chad Armstrong is great to deal with. http://www.pioneermotorsport.com/ Also check http://venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=82 for vendors that offer members discounts. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=21 offers the standard mods/accessories made by members (I have the Stebel horn adapter /wiring harness and the lift adapter with legs from Carbon_One and have ordered the trailer receiver from Hillis). I went from a 99 Virago 1100 to the 09 RSV and first thing you'll find is that at parking lot speeds you'll find the Venture feels top heavy. I'd recommend the Ride Like a Pro DVD http://www.ridelikeapro.com/store/instructional-dvds which gives great riding tips for handling the big cruisers. As for this site... great advice from members (even tourism tips!), lots of documentation (how-to's, manuals). Check out the International Rally, Meet and Eats, and Maintenance Days. Best $12 you'll spend joining the site ! -

Was following a thread that mentioned American Motorcyclist magazine and a letter how racers were spoiling riding for the rest of us. Couldn't read the letter without signing up with them but did find this interesting pdf about the different State laws regarding riding. For a good summary... go to http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/asp/legisltn/OnHwyLawChart.pdf or... http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/PrintLaws.html For Canada... this article was good http://ezinearticles.com/?6-Things-You-Must-Consider-Before-a-Canadian-Motorcycle-Ride&id=1391477 or ... http://www.ehow.com/list_7224801_canadian-motorcycle-helmet-laws.html (didn't know I can't listen to music thru my helmet speakers !). Also... probably won't affect Venture riders but keep exhaust sound laws in mind too. Sorry... hijacking my own thread but for a history on motorcycle helmets.. http://www.thehistoryof.net/the-history-of-motorcycle-helmets.html Tips from an insurance company http://www.kanetix.ca/ic_moto_info_moto_articles_03

Surfing the web for better Insurance for my 2006 FJR 1300
XV1100SE replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
I've always dealt with the Cooperators for car/life/house/bike insurance. In 2010 my coverage on the '99 Virago 1100 would have cost me $1,319 (no accidents, multi-line discount) with them. For comparison for our American friends, this is how they break down our coverage and insurance premiums in Ontario. These vary from Province to Province : Liability - $1,000,000 - premium $129 (bodily injury and property damage) (RP - $128) Accident Benefits (basic) - premium $804 (RP - $409) Uninsured Automobile - premium $30 (RP - $11) Direct Compensation (Property damage) - premium $47 (RP - $24) Loss or Damage - collision or upset $500 deductible - premium $140 (RP - $54) - comprehensive (excl. collision or upset) $500 deductible - premium $145 (RP - $116) OPCF 44R Family Protection (whatever that is) - premium $24 (RP - $63) Based on recommendations from riders at work, I called Riders Plus and their quote was $805 for the same coverage on the Virago ! (see differences above in red). When I bought the '09 Venture in July I took the insurance and plates of the Virago and the Venture became my daily ride. I increased my deductible to $1,000 from $500 and I am paying $910 per year. I had tried TD for comparison but they were more expensive than the Cooperators on the Virago. Riders Plus was easy to deal with and offered the best price. .... and yes.... Kitchener is less expensive than the Toronto area !- 9 replies

Not to hijack the thread but has anyone tried the Un-igo trailer? Neat idea but wondering how it compares to "normal" trailers in the way of capacity. Watching the video where they had someone following the trailer it looked a little unstable. The rider seemed to wander.

Motorcycle-USA - Harley Road Glide Ultra vs Victory Vision
XV1100SE replied to XV1100SE's topic in Watering Hole
Other than sales figures I don't know why Yamaha doesn't update the bike. What R&D does it take to add some of the conveniences like heated grips and seat, improved radio/intercom system (add blue tooth and remove the cassette). Fuel injection might take a little adaptation but they have experience on other bikes. Same with ABS. Strengthen the rear shock... The base bike is still strong with riding comfort, 4 cyclinder, shaft drive, low maintenance. In these areas the RSV is still a great bike. Would adding the other features greatly increase sales? Probably not a lot given that the touring market isn't that big, but the updates would be nice and would make the bike more competitive against the HD's, Victory, and even GoldWing. How many of us here would consider getting a newer RSV if it was updated? -
Motorcycle-USA - Harley Road Glide Ultra vs Victory Vision
XV1100SE replied to XV1100SE's topic in Watering Hole
I posted the link because I've seen posts from others talking about the Harley and Victory. Thought the write up was interesting. From what I've seen, the European requirements for 2017 require ABS on bikes. If Yamaha keeps the Venture until then (or stops and starts again), that will be the time they finally update the RSV. LOL - getting older so heated seats/grips would be a welcome addition too ! -
Came across this article this morning and know some people have been considering the Victory. I know the 2011 RSV beats both bikes but for comparison.... http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/10/9011/Motorcycle-Article/2011-Victory-Vision-Tour-vs-Road-Glide-Ultra-.aspx

I'm considering getting passing lights for my '09 RSV and not sure what you get when you order them. I see that the passing lights requires mounts as well. If someone can clarify.... Passing lamps -STR-4XY35-10-00 => are these JUST the lights? Passing lamp mounts - STR-3XY35-40-00 => is this the bar that the lights and turn signals attach to? Where do I get the recommended "spacer" from? Not sure I want the OEM lights if there is a better looking and more functional option. Is the Rivco 4" 55/60w a good choice? www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_id=42&Category_ID=49&manufacturer_ID=11&product_ID=36682&related=short Also... for the switch, has anyone used the Show Chrome accessory block? http://www.canadamotorcycleaccessories.com/Dual_Accessory_Switch_Block_1_inch_Cruiser_Bars_P24870.php

As far as the rail size... I'm thinking it is 3/4". The clamp that came with the flag pole is 1/2" and doesn't fit the saddle bag trim rail. Can anyone confirm the diameter of the rails?
-
Planning on putting a 12" flag pole and 6x9" flag on my RSV. Was wondering a couple things : 1) saddle bag trim rail diameter - I picked up a pole and adapter at the bike show but the 1/2" mount doesn't fit the rails (Show Chrome). 1/2" mount seems to be common but think the rails are 3/4". Anyone confirm what size they used? Suggestions on getting just the 3/4" mount or do I have to buy another flag pole? 2) for maintenance.... better to mount the flag on the left or right side of the bike? Will mount on the back end of the rails so it doesn't interfere with the saddle bag lids. Didn't want to mount the pole on a side that would interfere with maintenance (eg tire change, eventual rear shock change) Thanks in advance.

Wait until the 2017's come out. ABS will be mandatory in Europe. Maybe they'll add a section preventing cassettes too !
