Not to spoil the party but active (based on posts since the search dates) since Jan 1, 2011 is only 1,134. Active in the last year is 1,369. I know there are members that don't post very often but I think these numbers are more representative of the number of actual members. I've spoken to a few riders I've met on the road that say they are trial members and just read articles. Don't think we should include them. The advanced search doesn't let you limit it to "paid" members. If Don has time and there is interest in knowing actual numbers maybe he can run a search based on this criteria. Consider this though... with the number of members that attended MD... we had a really good turn out if you take the numbers above to be accurate. And 13 members with more than 10,000 posts !!!!!! Somebody needs to be out riding more ! (think there is a limit here though and not sure how accurate it is because when I put in 100,000 for the search it said there are 12 people with more than that many posts !)

Glad I could help.

"Try starting with Yamaha Tech Bulletin No. M2002013 re: engine whine from clutch area"
-
Do a search for "Service Bulletin" and you'll see similar threads. If I come across the TSB I'll post it.
-
If no one can point you to it, call Yamaha's 800 # and ask them about the directive. Or you could start at the Regional Rep and work your way up... provided you have time left on your warranty.

Glad you are okay !

Do you remember the stamps some grocery stores used to give out (think it was Dominion/A&P) that you would put in a booklet or on a card? Same sort of thing. Ahhh..... memories. How about penny candy or 5 cent chocolate bars?

Sorry to hear about your loss

Inexpensive whine/chirp fix
XV1100SE replied to remmertb's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
On the "chirp".... first thing to try is to lube the rear gear. Might help. If not... one other step is to change the clutch basket to an "I" basket. The gears/splines are straight cut so a misalignment or lack of lube can cause a whine or chirp. On the "sluggish".... I went from a Virago 1100 and trust me... rev the RSV high and you won't find it sluggish. The V4 needs higher rpm than a v-twin. For example... I'll hit 60mph/100kph + in third before shifting into 4th. -
Take a look at Mad Maps. They show bike friendly routes. http://madmaps.com/regions/pacific

Is this right?

I'm not in the habit of shifting when it hits the rev limiter ! Just trying to point out to get the rev's high. -
Glad you are having a good trip !

If he gets to Carl's... I'm in for a meet and greet ... and a ride if he hasn't already had too much riding !

I'm riding an 09 (2nd Gen) and can hit 60mph in 3rd easy before shifting to 4th. Get the revs up before up-shifting. If it still lugs or slips... possible clutch issue as well? -

Post what area you live in (city) and I'm sure someone from Upstate NY will respond. I'd check to make sure all four exhausts are equally hot after a few minutes running (but don't burn yourself), run a can of Seafoam thru, and if you hook up with another member do a carb tune. And no... they do not sound like a Vtwin. -
They can't be Canadian then ! Have they made plans to hook up with anyone in the Hamilton/London area?

The horn could also cause them to swerve towards you or away from you and could still cause an accident or worse. Make sure you are in safe position before you hit the horn button.

Direct link to the article - http://www.wbtv.com/story/14880583/motorcyclist-killed-in-hit-and-run-crash At 4am it would have been dark. The trucker must have fallen asleep to not see the bike's lights. No fact on this... just assumption.
