Good thing for free trade between the U.S. and Canada. Makes it sooooo easy to buy vehicles across the border. If you don't need the trailer it is on, sell it to the other member from the U.S., and either borrow a trailer from someone on this side of the border or rent one and take it across and back. BradT picked up a bike in the U.S. recently.... maybe he can provide one. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58194

Every once in a while I hit the horn just to make sure it is clear and working (once a week). I found in the past if I didn't use this type of horn occassionally on another vehicle that dust and build-up would prevent it from working. "Blowing my own horn" kept it working.

Still no identification on the rider.

Sounds like a fun trip !

For rear lighting the trunk wing is a standard. And of course.... to make the bike more reflective.... chrome license plate holder, trunk rack, saddle bag rails... and for visibility flag/pole. Hey... safety chrome is reflective ! And congratulations on the new bike and welcome to the forum !

Gas shooting out of carbs after storage
XV1100SE replied to mtuckner's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I used to have this problem with my Virago every spring even though I used gas stabilizer to what I thought was the right amount. I had to drain the fuel and as soon as I put new gas in it would start immediately. Eventually I gave up on the stabilizer and just started the bike every couple weeks, running long enough to get the pipes hot. Be careful how much stabilizer you use (cut it in half) and you might want to consider running a can of Seafoam in your last couple tanks of gas in the fall. This will help clean the carbs (jets) before you park it for the winter and should make it easier to start in the spring -
The other thread I started on this and my comment above was that it will still only be available thru Yamaha. I've got Pioneer Motorsport trying to source it thru Yamaha but it isn't on their catalogues and would need a part number to get it from Yamaha. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/sh...159#post591159 Yamaha Canada didn't know anything about it...

Glad it wasn't more serious. Losing the car is bad enough. Camaro.... you'll enjoy it ! My other ride is an '07 Mustang GT

I thought all you needed was the name and signature of anyone. You could go to a gas station at your "mid-point" and get someone there to sign your receipt for gas (confirming your bike plate). Even a good idea to get a photograph. Do the same thing at the start of your trip and also when you return. That way you document the trip. Write down your odometer reading on each receipt and make sure the date/time is legible.

I had a really boring day at work today. When I did the search for "service bulletin" I went thru the hits and found the reference. It is there. Since other's might need this info easily accessible... is there a way to put it as a sticky? Maybe in the technical documents area?
