I requested the day off a month ago and my boss hasn't done anything with it. I'm not going to ask him again and Friday morning we leave I'll send a message to the Department saying I have a vacation day and go. As they say.... "better to ask for forgiveness than permission". Silence from my boss is acceptance as far as I'm concerned on this.

Just wondering who else from Ontario (crossing in Buffalo/Ft. Erie) is going to the mini-rally. "The Count" and I are leaving from the Kitchener/Waterloo area on the Friday. Anyone else interested in joining us?

I can't actually answer that question. I bought my bike used (3 months old) and two of the tabs were broken. I repaired them (base on a tech article) but I have to make a couple of the tabs I fixed longer.
-
Are all the tabs there though? Think from memory there are two tabs across the top and four across the bottom.

Have you sat down with him to work out a schedule for when the job will be complete? You could say to him "Have you taken on more jobs than you can get done in a day? Maybe we should settle where we are now and I'll find someone else unless you can guarantee (in writing) that you'll complete my job by (insert date here)" It is possible he accepted other jobs and is spread too thin. Maybe he is feeling the same pain you are.

I started a thread when I was bored one evening that covers the 2nd Gen for fuel capacity and mileage. Unless anyone can correct my calculations... think it is accurate. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61967

For those in Ontario looking for a Stebel... not easy to find here. When I got mine the cost was $62 and I got mine from : Dual Sport Plus 905-664-8811 221 Barton St, Stoney Creek, ON, L8E2K3 I called Steve and gave him another vote on Carbon_One's bracket and wiring harness and gave him the info on the vendor. Steve said that Chad has the Stebel's in stock and will have them for the WNY meet.... just in case anyone else needs one. (don't we all?) FYI... PM Larry (Carbon_One) if you want the bracket and wiring. He might not respond for a week or so but he did say he might be at Pioneer on Aug 19th.

Can we get Todd to confirm?

I'm glad you are okay too. I agree that the insurance should pay you a fair price to repair the bike. Start checking ebay and print off ads for the highest prices you can find. Even from here print off pm's from anyone offering to sell you parts. That gives you a starting point to negotiate with them. Don't forget the cost of labor to install the parts. Injuries from being hit from behind can show up later too. A backache or neck pain a month from now could change your enjoyment of life. Don't be too quick to dismiss or settle too low for personal injury. -
Did anyone ever hear the name of the rider?

I'm using a set of H7616's and they are far brighter than the stock and Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight. Wish I could find a headlight as good! Turning the passing lights off the headlight looks dim in comparison. And my headlight and passing lights are aimed correctly.

With my girlfriend starting a new temp job last night and 47 degree celcius temperatures (with humidity) it was best to stay inside and enjoy the air conditioning. What else to do but something bike related. :-) I put together the following chart based on my experiences, Yamaha specs, magazine articles, and member experiences. The figures are based on a "stock" RSV with normal fuel tank and un-corrected odometer. I've also taken into consideration what the "real" main tank capacity differences are from spec (0.5 U.S. gallons) in calculating maximum distance and "real" total fuel capacity. Some numbers don't total up due to rounding. I've wondered just how far I can go on a tank of fuel, or gotten to the point where I was wondering if I could make it to the next gas station before I ran out of fuel and would have to walk. Hopefully this table is helpful to others. NOTE - "Low Fuel distance travelled" counter comes on at inconsistent points because of leaning the bike into a corner when you are low on fuel. Once it starts the count down it stays on. The low fuel indicator light goes on and off depending on the lean of the bike.

Chicken costume wouldn't be aerodynamic and would slow him down with the drag. Speedo would be the way to go !

I bought a set of arm rests from Larry for my '09 RSV. Larry shipped them same day he received payment and I received them about 6 days later (in Canada). Had a minor issue with alignment and went to Larry's to work it out together. He has his triked so it fit a little different but Larry resolved it same day and even took me out for dinner ! On the ride home (about 350km), my girlfriend commented on how comfortable it was. She's happy... so I'm happy ! I've gotten several items from Larry (Stebel horn bracket and wiring, lift adapter with legs) and as usual, the items are top quality with great support. While at Larry's I also picked up the engine guard braces. Here's the mandatory pics :

Could get together for ice cream tonight or Tuesday night. Good excuse to go for a ride ! Either that... or will you be going to Carl's on Wednesday?

Kitchener area membets - Sylvania Silverstar Ultra

I picked up the twin pack today. Anyone in the Kitchener area interested in taking one off my hands? -
I thank Larry because of the extra effort he puts into his products. LOL - I am not affiliated nor do I receive promotional incentives for my comments ! I ordered a set of Larry's passenger armrests for my 09 RSV. When I ran into some difficulties figuring out the alignment, I paid a visit to Larry and together we resolved the issue (slight modification to the design). The payoff for me is that my girlfriend (who went with me and endured the sun and high temperatures on the way there) found them to be a big plus on the comfort side on the way back ! 700km round trip ! Thanks again Larry !!

Larry helped me install the arm rests today and on the 300km ride back home, my girlfriend found them to be MUCH more comfortable ! As always... another quality item from Carbon_One !

Kitchener area membets - Sylvania Silverstar Ultra

Funny with the light bulb ! As for a second RSV.... hmmmmm.... not a bad idea since the 2013/14 will be updated with the latest and greatest. If I had two of the Ultra bulbs and the new model took something other than an H4.... I wouldn't be able to buy the new model ! What would I do with the extra bulb? -

.... or find someone that has two and wants to sell one, or wants to split on a 2-pack ! -
Headed to Larry's (Carbon_One) on Sunday leaving Kitchener about 7am and probably cross at Sarnia then head down to Larry's. Getting the passenger arm rests for my RSV. Going thru Windsor/Detroit only saves about 20 minutes according to MapQuest, thinking Sarnia might be easier to cross at. Coming back same day so will be a quick trip... but should be a nice ride.
