We had a great time in Chaffee... great group in Western NY ! Weather was great riding down... dinner took forever getting served to us but was good when it arrived. The sweet buns were tasty Saturday morning and rides planned were fun (included ice cream of course !). Lots of food and too many good deals at Pioneer. We camped this year and the WNY group somehow managed to arrange a light show - lots of thunder and lightning overnight ! Sunday morning breakfast was done by Ken and really hit the spot ! Riding back, weather was good until we hit the Duty Free shop.... then it came down in buckets ! Kept raining for about 20 minutes and cleared up again. After parting with Saddlebum and Greener... we managed to stay between the clouds/rain and made it into the garage five minutes before it started raining again. Hope everyone made it home safe and thank you to the WNY group for putting on a great rally and to Pioneer for hosting the group ! Looking forward to next year !!

Steve (The Count) won't be able to make it due to illness. Nancy and I will be at Casablanca/QEW as previously arranged. I have a print out of the directions to Chaffee. Don

Did you connect the run/brake wires into the tail light or under the seat?
-
After posting I found a couple threads with references to these. Looking for general impressions - is it a good investment? Would also consider replacing the brake light with the cluster.

Has anyone tried the Custom Dynamics cluster in rear signal housing? Has turn/brake/running light in one cluster so your turn signal acts as running light/brake/turn signal. http://www.customdynamics.com/motorc...c_clusters.htm

Passenger highway pegs
XV1100SE replied to myminpins's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Depending on how long the rests are. The driver's floorboards are longer than the passenger boards. Not sure they would tuck under completely. -
Considering our $'s at or above par lately... Yamaha pricing is something else too ! Leather tank bra with pockets (plain) - U.S. $187 ; Canada $266 Trunk wing - U.S. $267 ; Canada $379 Saddle bag trim rails - U.S. $213 ; Canada $303 Passing Lamps - U.S. $118 ; Canada $168 Passing lamp mounts - U.S. $150 ; Canada $179 Trunk rack - U.S. $179 ; Canada $220 Chrome battery side covers - U.S. $208 ; Canada $295 For U.S. pricing... take off another 15% if purchased from Pioneer Motorsports.

Friday at Casablanca/QEW @ noon is still a go. Steve (The Count) wasn't feeling well yesterday or today so won't know until Thursday if he is a go or not. Carl will probably meet us in Fort Erie depending on timing. As a reminder... don't forget Passports !

I second that... slows down when it hits Customs but I've never had a package not show up. Sometimes Customs will hold it a few days when shipped USPS but it comes thru. (with UPS I've had things held up for a week - maybe that is why they charge $60 brokerage fee -for storage?) As for lost parcels.... maybe things shipped to Paris Ontario ended up in France? Things sent to Boston or Cambridge Ontario to Massachussetts? Gotta have the right postal code on them !

I think it's because of the multi-colour ("color" to you Americans) of our money ! And don't forget we use $2 bills/coins which was forbidden in the States ! We also call "soda" "pop" up here, we wear "running shoes" instead of "sneakers".... and we spell words the British way instead of American English!

I have nothing against anyone for their belief's whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim. My feeling is that how you practice your religion or choice of religion is up to you. I just don't want someone coming to my door to discuss their beliefs. Just as I'm sure they wouldn't want me showing up at their door... usually at inconvenient times (why is it they come when I'm having dinner or just stepped in the shower?) for a political discussion about who I'm going to vote for or to discuss philosophy. If I choose to go to church that is up to me, including when/if I do so. No offense meant to any Jehovah's Witnesses on here (I have relatives that are Jehovah's Witnesses)... one thing my mother used to say when answering the door to a Jehovah's Witness who woke her up when she was on a night shift - "Sorry, I didn't see the accident". Or should that have been in the joke section? :-) To the Moderators - you guys do a great job ! Despite the Politics/Religious rules this thread has been allowed to continue. Probably due to the fact that there has been no mud slinging or arguements. Members have been civil in expressing their views and this is one of the great things about the members on here.

2012 Models - Don't think it's been asked in a while
XV1100SE replied to rumboogy's topic in Watering Hole
They are lobbying for hybrid cars and EV's to make sound so pedestrians could hear the vehicle. Just think... the Venture sounding like a Harley... or a Harley sounding like a Ferrari ! Vrrrroooom Vrooooom instead of "potato potato potato" ! -
I had posted a couple pics in Larry's ad showing the arm rests in the down position. If you want a couple pics showing the "up" position, let me know. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=613935#post613935

Sudden burst of OMG power
XV1100SE replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry if I'm off base.... 2nd Gen here. Possible it has something to do with the carbs? Isn't there something else in the carbs that opens when you get to a certain throttle position? Possible one or two of the carbs is sticking until it gets to a certain throttle position or vacuum at a certain rpm?- 10 replies

I think this it what it really comes down to. Even for us to ship to the U.S. there is extra paperwork with Custom's forms. So much for "free trade". The other thing mentioned is returns. If there is a warranty issue it is extra time/paperwork/cost if they have to cover return shipping charges. For example... I recently returned a lower patch cable to J&M in warranty. $30 item that will cost them $20 to ship to Canada plus extra paperwork for U.S. Customs. I have no issues with J&M but is it worth it to them? For us in Canada... pricing in the U.S. on many items is lower than in Canada, even with the $ at par or our buck worth even more. It might be worth it to us to have it shipped to Canada but for the seller it opens up other issues. And then there is warranty issues (Yamaha is a good example) where warranty isn't good across the border and some items considered "grey market". Are there any Canadian vendor's that won't ship to the U.S. ?

Won't hold it against you if you are wearing a jacket or boots in Harley colours or with the Harley emblem ! Most items are offered for various bike manufacturers. Where the limitation is on how it fastens to the bike. A Gold Wing seat won't fit on a Harley/Kawasaki/Yamaha... but other items are interchangeable with or without an adapter. For some items you only have a couple choices (eg passenger arm rests, trailer hitch)... but how many do you need? If there is anything you can't find, post the specifics here and you'll be offered multiple alternatives or specific items. Ask about headlights, passing lights, trunk racks, hi-way pegs, even oil.... you'll be given or directed to lots of options !

2012 Models - Don't think it's been asked in a while
XV1100SE replied to rumboogy's topic in Watering Hole
Yamaha does their new model announcements in September/October. Word in a previous thread is that a new model RSV will be out in Fall of 2012 for 2013 model. My thinking is that the RSV will be unchanged for 2012 (still with cassette) but will come with the iPod connector in the saddle bag since the cd-changer has been discontinued. With all the EV and hybrid cars coming out... maybe they should skip fuel injection and go to an all electric bike? -

XV1100SE replied to Yama Mama's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Where a few people take offense to religion/politics in threads is when they are in the "Watering Hole". To those people... just read offerings of prayers as best wishes. You aren't being told you have to have certain beliefs or attend a particular affiliation of church or belong to a particular political party to be right or wrong. -
