  1. I emailed the Canadian Distributor asking about the Ohlin shocks and if they have one for the 2nd Gen.... Their response : "I can't say for sure whether one of the shocks will work on your bike, they have tested fitments for the Wild Star, Midnight Star, Drag Star and the Road Warrior but not the Royal"
  2. Steve Jobs must have been a good guy... the Westboro Baptists are going to his funeral ! http://www.sync-blog.com/sync/2011/10/westboro-baptist-church-plans-to-picket-jobs-funeral.html
  3. Pretty sure it is in front of the rad. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_horn_on_1997_Toyota_Rav4 http://www.rav4world.com/forums/83-4-1-general/79771-1997-rav-has-only-1-horn.html
  4. Don't think they sell the Tagalong any more.
  5. Noted
  6. Met the group and enjoyed dinner at Moose Winooski's. Was a great group to spend Thanksgiving dinner with!
  7. On the Custom Dynamics site they show how to tell which bulb you have. Pull one from the signal light and compare it (my first post had the link - http://www.customdynamics.com/bulb_i...ation_help.htm) As for "not DOT approved".... I saw that but figure better to be safer with the brighter lights. As was mentioned, I don't think a cop would be able to say it wasn't DOT approved just by how bright the lights were or that it was a run/brake/turn light in one housing. Doubt they'd really care.
  8. We just got home from the trip to Napanee with Steve and Michelle to pick up their trailer. Left the house before 7am.... So.... not going to make it tomorrow. Will try to make the dinner at Pioneer for 6pm. (Carl... post when you confirm, please).
  9. What time and where do we start on Monday?
  10. Makes a huge difference lighting up the back. To anyone else considering doing something on the back of the bike, highly recommend the 100 LED brake light and the signal/run/brake dynamic LED.
  11. Can you try that again in English?? Are the four (or is it 5?) planning to ride on Monday? If so... we are in !
  12. Is a ride planned for Monday the 10th as well or just Saturday? Monday I can make... not Saturday. :-(
  13. We'd be up for it on Monday.
  14. Would be nice to get together for a ride but its dark before 8pm and cools down pretty quick in the evening. Nicer riding when you can see the countryside. A weekend ride might be better at this time of the year.
  15. ... and there was NO brokerage fee !
  16. Sorry... to clarify.... my trailer isn't always connected to the bike so it isn't the load from the trailer (which I converted to LED lighting anyway). I have a Reese powered isolator that is always connected. Before I connected the balancer I tested the lights and they flashed quickly so I know they don't work because of the trailer isolator. Once I connected the load balancer the rear signals flashed at the slower speed.
  17. If thats what it takes to convince your other half to get a trailer....then that's the issue for sure ! When I wired mine I considered the trailer isolator to be a separate circuit/path and cut into the leads going to the rear lights, just as you did. Still think it could be your load equalizer.... and still possibly your ground if you used the connectors that came with the kit (in solder I trust, quick connects would be my first suspect). Just in case.... since you've been focussing on the rear of the bike.... any chance your incandescent bulbs in the front signals are burned out? That would also make them flash quickly. I know its obvious.... but you never know unless you ask/look.
  18. I spliced into the ground wire that is part of the rear light harness under the seat. Did you do this as well or to a separate ground? You have the same parts I have... mine works. Are you wired for a trailer?
  19. I think I still have the answer based on the question of where he was when he jumped. Something tells me we won't get "the answer" from Carl....
  20. Okay.... my turn to leap into the fray.... so to speak.... The original post was : "So a man was on a roof, and jumped off." It doesn't just say that he jumped up but specifically "jumped off". Didn't step off the roof.... didn't jump up (or he would have landed back on the roof). So... going back to the original post : "So a man was on a roof, and jumped off. Where was he when he jumped?" The first sentence is the key to where he was when he jumped, and direction ("off") is a misdirection (sort of like Carl's u-turns on every group ride). If you read the question... "Where was he when he jumped".... it doesn't ask where he was after he jumped or during the jump, or where he landed... it asks specifically where he was when he jumped. Clearly at the moment he jumped he was on the roof as was stated in the first sentence. Problem solved.
  21. I hope that what I documented helped in your install. As for the erratic lights... mine flash at a consistent slow speed (what I'd consider normal). Only things I can think of is your load balancer: - isn't working properly - bad connection to the two power lines or ground -if both signal lights are affected I'd point to ground - check to make sure you have the rear signal wires under the seat. The lines come from the plug connector and go into the fender.
  22. What did you use on your windscreen that caused the issue ?
  23. Ran into a couple Harley riders on the weekend ... one of them actually recognized the RSV as a Yamaha. They mentioned how if you owned a Harley you needed to know how to "wrench" it and that they had read on a Harley forum how someone on the site had bought a new (made in the USA) Harley and returned it complaining how so much of it is Japanese or other and NOT American parts.
  24. So what is wrong with having a bike that works? The '99 is almost the same as the 2012.... so ?? The engine is solid, water cooled, shaft drive, audio/intercom, comfortable ride.... Maybe the '99 was just so advanced they didn't need to change it? Buying a new car.... would you buy the first year of a major model change? A lot of people don't. Give them a year to work out the bugs. 2nd year is always better. (and I work for an auto manufacturer). Maybe that is why HD struggles with bugs? If your RSV runs and gives you no issues and only requires minor maintenance... isn't that a good thing? Sounds like they've tried fixing the clutch whine over the years (up to "I" basket or higher by now) and I now have an iPod interface... so there have been minor updates. Other than that..... carburators work... cassette is hidden behind a door...motor pulls strong enough....what really has to change??? I don't see the other tourers offering the combination of liquid cooled, shaft drive, more passenger room, more than a v-twin..... maybe they haven't kept up with our "same since '99" features !
  25. Sometimes computers don't do what they are supposed to do !
