  1. Sorry for the slight hijack.... To do the accessory outlet by the seat... suggestion on wire size (or would it be attached to the cigarette lighter connector when purchased) ? Fuse size?
  2. They better be good ! Checked prices in Canada and the ones I saw listed were $160 + Nice pad though with built in pump but not cheap for sure !
  3. So... on a 2nd Gen.... the accessory power on the fairing.... what can you use in it? - GPS ? - small compressor?
  4. Based on my experiences and reading on here, I put together a chart and posted it (was really bored at work that day). 40 miles after the main tank runs out completely is very good and don't think you could have gone much further. I'm not sure though.... does the feed tube that runs to the reserve tank continue to feed the reserve from the main tank or is that and the petcock located in the same area? (1st Gen and 2nd Gen) If you switch to reserve will it get the last of the fuel that remains in the main tank after it stops feeding fuel to the carbs? link to my fuel calculations - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61967
  5. My shot.... I've had my '09 RSV (Candy Red/Raven so it already stands out and draws attention!) since July 2010 and have put on 24,000km. I've attended local meets (and eats), the Western N.Y. rally, Maintenance Day. The colour and the bike attracts attention and questions from Harley and other riders... and I certainly don't mind showing it off ! This year I'm planning to attend the same rally's and meets (and eats) as well as a 14,000km road trip from the International down to Texas, across to California, up to Washington State and back across the U.S. (should hit 18-20 States) over a 4 week trip and hope to meet as many members as I can. My plans for August 2013 are to attend a family reunion in Saskatchewan which will include going to the West Coast again (B.C.) across Canada and back thru the Northern U.S. (5 Provinces and 14 States). Depending on where and when... the 2013 Interational and any regional rallies along the way. For items I've added to the bike (LED lighting, iPod adapter, arm rests) I've done write ups for the installation and reviews of the products (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63049, http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63006, http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61885) and in other threads either started discussions or added my comments in others. I work with and ride with Harley/Honda/Kawasaki owners, talk to bikers at coffee shops or anyone and everyone that asks about my RSV. From the following picture.... how can it not draw attention (extra points - my girlfriend on the bike!). Okay.... thats my best shot at getting an F4 17.5" vented windshield (either normal or wide width).
  6. When I get a response I'll let you know and if you want to come to Kitchener and see how mine is done you are more than welcome to. If you can't make it, once I see how its done I'll come to you.
  7. Unstick the rubber from the bottom of the trunk because when you move it back it won't line up with the rail that currently supports it. Also...there are nuts welded to the support under the trunk where the bolts currently go. Moving the trunk back you might have to put two nuts underneath (trying to recall from memory) Moving the trunk back is usually done when you add passenger armrests.
  8. Sorry... got the Zumo 660. I considered the 665 but I don't like paying for radio even if it is commercial free. That was really the determining factor. Although it would have been nice to be able to get weather on the gps... that requires an xm subscription.... which weather is not available as an add-on in Canada plus XM told me that it wouldn't work in the U.S.. The 660 has FM-traffic, plays mp3's... has everything the 665 has (except satellite radio and weather) but the 660 is $150 less than the 665. For those interested.... Radio World has the 660 for $599 and the 665 for $750.
  9. We got there about 7:30pm and left around 9:30pm. I got what I wanted at the first booth by the entrance. Radio World has the Garmin Zumo for $599. That was all I bought this year (last year I spent about $400 on chrome, clothing, and cleaning products !). We are pretty much set for clothing and safety chrome so all that was left was to wander thru the 5 halls.... sorry, no pictures.... I knew Abdul would come thru (nice pics by the way) ! Was a good show, definitely lots to see. I got the deal I was looking for, good evening out with the girlfriend... priceless !
  10. Need to adjust my steering head over the winter and although I read the tech article I'm still not clear on it. I have the tool and bike is on the lift... Anyone free to assist? No rush.... can't ride with the snow/salt. Just like to see how it is done once.
  11. Nice write up ! As for which Gen is faster... I don't know or care. My '09 gets me to the same places yours does in comfort. Whether you get their first or second doesn't matter. Speed limit is speed limit... might slow one of us down if we have to stop to get a ticket ! Now back to the topic of this thread....
  12. If you do a search for "back rest" you'll find lots of discussion. I have the Utopia and am happy with it.
  13. +2. Going to the motorcycle show Friday night so we can make dinner !
  14. Looks like I'll be at the show Friday night around 6-6:30.
  15. Welcome to the forum ! Read this thread for known/common issues - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067 Biggest thing is probably the rear shock. Since the bike has been around for a while, test all the electrical and ask the current owner what mods he has done. Would be nice to see service records (valve's adjusted, regular oil changes?)
  16. Congratulations !
  17. Congratulations ! Sitting here at work.... I'm envious ! More working years behind me than in front.... but every day is one day closer to retirement ! (unless I win the lottery !!)
  18. Not sure what time I'm working until on Saturday and want to do the show after I get off. Won't know until Saturday to figure out what time I can get off work. Will let you know as soon as I can. 8pm would probably work for me .... but can't guarantee that I can make it.
  19. Sorry to hear of your loss. My condolences go to you and your family.
  20. I have to work during the day on Saturday, was planning on going to the show late afternoon or early evening. Dinner sounds like a good idea !
  21. At this rate.... schedule a meet/build/eat at your house in the spring. You'll get lots of help and have it done in no time !
  22. Having the iPod plugged in all the time does drain the battery. It indicates inthe manual that the circuit is still hot when the bike is off. Nice part of this is the iPod is always charged. Downside is that if the bike sits for a while the battery will be low.
  23. Interesting.... mine fit in place fine. Must be having some pretty big quality problems if they can't do a consistent size !
  24. Did you get the turn signals or the run/turn/brake?
