  1. ... must be a day for deletions ! Another thread bites the dust !
  2. Uh oh.... better start talking about guns again !
  3. Read this thread for known problems. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067 Other thing to consider is the 5yr warranty. It starts the day the original owner buys the bike. If you buy something purchased in 2007/8 you'll have another year of warranty left because it is transferable to the new owner, no matter how many times it changes hands.
  4. Keeping it vehicle related... isn't a 1st Gen like a a 57 Chevy and a 2nd Gen like a new Camaro?
  5. I was finally busy at work and not able to keep up with the threads after I made my post. Sorry I missed the follow-on ! Always entertaining ! Maybe we need to use code so the moderators don't figure out we are talking about guns. Hmmmm....
  6. If you look at police cars or fire engines, it is the alternating siren that catches your attention. Having a horn system like shown in the video would catch more attention... but would mean that you are a more than a few seconds away from an issue. I have a Stebel horn on the right side and might consider something like this to replace the horn inside the fairing. As for lights, I ride with high beam and passing lights during the day, low beam and passing lights during the day so I wouldn't benefit from the headlight connection. Riding with high beams definitely makes you more visible during the day ! My passing lights are brighter than the headlight (have the Silverstar Ultra) and that makes a difference.
  7. Do a search for color code. Colorrite web site will give you the code.
  8. Mark's Work Wearhouse pull Caterpillar boots off shelves in support of workers http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1126570--mark-s-work-wearhouse-pulls-caterpillar-boots-to-protest-closure-of-london-plant?bn=1
  9. Bikes in Ontario are $48 per year and cars are $76. Trailers are a one time lifetime registration (cost me $25 for the plate). (numbers from memory so should be ballpark) Every two years we have to get an emission test done on cars over a certain age... at $36. This should be considered as part of the registration cost.
  10. I work for Toyota in the computer department at the manufacturing plant in Cambridge (they make nothing like the 'Stang) and considered the new Camaro (always liked the first Gen CAMARO and FIREBIRD) ... but hate what they did with the side profile and rear. The Mustang has the agressive look and when you want to go .... it goes ! Nothing like a V8 with standard tranny (why get automatic?????) with 305hp and lots of torque ! Few years I'll upgrade to the newer Mustang with over 400hp (current v6 has the same horespower as my '07 v8 but a 6 banger just aint a v8 !!!).
  11. This was done by a shop that does car graphics and this was the vinyl they recommended. I did notice they are no longer in business though! I like the gray on gray striping though (slightly different grays). Thinking paint is the way to go for a permanent condition.
  12. Nancy says thanks... and at least you didn't call me STEVE this time ! See.... you can teach old dogs !
  13. ... another article on it.... http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1126357--cohn-how-canada-let-caterpillar-strip-a-plant-clean?bn=1
  14. Was tempting here in Ontario but would have had to put some things back on the bike to do it ! +3 Celcius (37 F) and sunny, dry pavement. Felt more like Spring ! Even saw a couple Harley riders ... Spent the time giving the cars a good hand wash in the driveway. Wow.... beginning of February and doing things that would normally be in March/April ! We don't even have snow on the ground !
  15. Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to take care of or clean vinyl stripes on a car. Bought the car in '09 (2007 Mustang GT) and the dealer had added the stripes to it after it came in from a lease. A year later the stripes became "mottled" so I had them replaced. Now they are looking "mottled" again. Normal wash and wax when I do the car. I've tried vinyl cleaner but doesn't seem to give them any protection and the discolouration comes back again. If I replace them again I'll get the stripes painted on ! Suggestions?
  16. Not stirring the pot... Caterpillar offered the workers half of what they were making and threatened to close the plant if they didn't accept. Now they are putting the workers out of work and from the way the U.S. plant is going to operate this would be union busting. I'm not pro-union... they had their day. But how would you like to go from living on $29 an hour down to $14 doing the same job? Especially when Caterpillar is reporting high earnings? Concessions are understandable when the company isn't doing well, but a 50% pay cut when they are making high earnings?
  17. Caterpillar closing London Ontario Diesel locomotive plant.... http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1126200--caterpillar-shutdown-u-s-company-bails-from-london-ont-s-electro-motive-diesel-plant?bn=1
  18. We pay more taxes... but have full medical coverage. Wish optical and dental were part of it but we don't get a bill from the hospital when we have an issue !
  19. Thats what I meant ! ;-)
  20. Never worked for me to buy a lottery ticket when things were going well. Try seeing if that is the spring board for changing your luck ! Been there, done that.... usually with computers or plumbing !
  21. Pick up a plate for a "home built trailer" - all you need it number of wheels, colour, and weight. Cost in Ontario is $25 or $35 I believe. Order the trailer to a U.S. (other member address?) and go pick it up. Take off the vin plate, put on the Canadian plate.... ride across the border.
  22. I'm sure some will agree.... and that is a bad thing?
  23. Good story.... and hope it heals quickly.... so you can get back to work as soon as possible ! Think most of us have had similar experiences... doing the guy thing and either thinking it isn't serious or will heal itself in time. Take care of the elbow... and yourself !
  24. Glad to hear it ! Was wondering how things were going for her.
  25. Thats good ! Besides... the mailman might carry a bigger gun !
