Okay... who did it? Who is sending us this low? "An intensifying Colorado low is forecast to track towards Southern Minnesota overnight reaching the Central Great Lakes late Wednesday. Freezing rain and some snow will begin spreading into Ontario overnight tonight. Ground temperatures are well below freezing and will combine with cold easterly winds to set the stage for freezing rain lasting 4 to 6 hours as the main precipitation band moves from west to east through the area Wednesday morning. Ice accumulation on surfaces may cause hazardous conditions on untreated surfaces and travellers are urged to use caution. Precipitation is expected to end or taper to patchy freezing drizzle later in the morning followed by temperatures climbing above zero by Wednesday afternoon with a few rain showers or patchy drizzle."

Would like to meet the women you know ! When we meet... I'd like to meet BOTH your wives and see if they agree with you!

Like others have said, just because you won't be riding an RSV or RSTD you don't have to leave. The entertainment can easily be worth the $12 a year ! (and we also like to hear what you think about whatever bike you get. This site is for riders... several with the FJR )

There is a pool for if/when you get the garage done. Even money that it eventually gets done.

Just starting to "button" it up and only thing left is the engine guard brace. Projects this winter were : => connect Zumo 660 (with Buddy Rich cable) => add fuse block and rewire passing lights and trailer to it => connect gps tracking device => add "cigarette lighter"/accessory connection => connect battery tender quick disconnect For the Zumo... the cradle has wires that are long enough to go into the fairing. With the length of cable supplied with the Buddy Rich cable I ended up having extra wire in the fairing so put some velcro on the inside of the back of the fairing and tie wrapped the cables (with velcro) and stuck it to the backside of the fairing. The fuse block is a ganged 6 fuse ATC so it has : Stebel horn; passing lights; gps; gps tracker; accessory outlet; and trailer connected. Full already ! Slipped in behind the battery. You might be able to see in the picture I put labels on the block showing what was connected and the amp fuse to use (except for the tracker) and labelled the wires as well. In running the wires from the block to the fairing I used split tubing to protect the wires and make them look nice where visible. For the GPS tracking device, it comes with an adapter which I attached to the back fairing using velcro and slipped the tracker under the cassete deck and used velcro again to keep it from rattling/moving. The accessory connection is straight to the fuse block. I didn't use the factory connector under the seat. I might reposition the battery tender connection but for now it is easy to get to.

Nobody pulled a gun and threatened to shoot you as you came out of the "soon to be demolished house"? Only in Canada ! :-)

Consider using a Buddy Rich cable. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15303&highlight=buddyrich+cable

Looked at the bikes for my girlfriend when they came to Kitchener a couple years ago. Less than 2 years they closed up. Got the same pitch from the sales person that they were expanding...looking at their Canadian site they have 10 dealers in Ontario. http://www.nationalmotorsports.ca/ -
Think I'm switching to vegetable oil.... and wooden wheel on the back. Who needs a horn when you can use your middle finger. 1st Gen or 2nd Gen? Nawwww..... Vespa !

Don't feel you need to take some time out. One of the nice thing about this site, moderators, and members is that issues like this can be discussed and resolved. Everyone's opinions are welcome. Even thru this thread no one took offense and basically supported your comment, even if it was taken out of context. I've been on other forums where occassionally a member would be banned for comments. Here, people are given an opportunity to clarify their comments and everyone ends up doing a group hug. And Larry.... the snow is headed our way into Southern Ontario. Please keep as much of it in your area as possible !

Interesting read and fun comments about HD riders. Didn't like the picture at all because..... What was I talking about???? Oh yeah.... 1st Gen's vs 2nd Gen's....something about not how fast you ride but arriving alive. Or was it that 1st Gen owners tinker and repair plastic cracks, while 2nd Gen owners don't have to tinker and just enjoy the ride.

So if a moderator posts a thread or a comment in a thread that contravenes policy.... do the rest of us get to delete it? "Everyone is entitled to an opinion, unless they disagree with mine" I didn't see the original post so it is hard to comment without knowing the context... but the poster did put a smiley face on it and made effort to say it reflected "any you". Don't think they made an attempt to offend, probably an attempt at humour. "...then you would simply be ignorant (not YOU, any you) :)"

Serious cornering questions tips for an experienced Rider
XV1100SE replied to muaymendez1's topic in Safety and Education
Have to agree with this. If you don't feel confident on a curve better to take it slower and not force it. As you've experienced, better to start into a curve slower than have to brake hard mid way thru it. You aren't alone in your unease. I tend to slow down going into a curve where I can't see far enough to be in my comfort factor. Mileage may not help in all cases. Sometimes taking a course at a track can make the difference. -
19 1/2" is the same size as stock. Did you consider going shorter?

Which model did you go with? Height? Sorry if I missed this in your original post.

Fairing trim removal, how to?
XV1100SE replied to KevinR's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If it is the chrome on the windshield fairing... from previous posts... you can slide a strong fishing line under neath and slide it to break the glue. Then you can use Goo Gone to remove the glue. -

Then how do I get the weather to warm up to riding temperatures?

Pretty sure that is the process I did and was able to add pictures afterwards.
