  1. I'll give Barry a chance to respond (300km away). If he wants to meet part way it is his. If not... its all yours ! For anyone that doesn't know, there is a soft copy of the owners and shop manual at http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828
  2. No charge. I got the soft copy off of here and printed it at work. Printer only did single sided so I printed my copy on a different one that does 2 sided. The single side copy is in a binder and yours for the pick up or meet somewhere. London perhaps or if there is a coffee shop between Chatham and London.
  3. I have an extra printed copy of the 2nd Gen shop manual. Anyone need one?
  4. Part Source has it on sale. Regular $12.49 now $9.59. Sale until May 3

  12. Good article and video of Earl Scruggs playing with Steve Martin. http://www.vancouversun.com/entertainment/Earl+Scruggs+revolutionary+banjo+picking+style+lives/6379768/story.html#ooid=8xNnNiNDoo8Kv3e1Ss2O1F824XhqtQ42
  13. 1/2 " on trunk rack. 3/4" on saddlebags rails.
  14. Venture for a first bike? Definitely take the motorcycle course. Don't get discouraged with the weight or size of the bike. Give yourself time to get to know the bike. It can be a handful at slow speeds. Word of advice, get the bike rolling at a good speed before turning until you get used to it. Make sure you wear good boots with non-slip soles, be wary of good footing when you put your feet down (watch out for gravel or oil), don't park in a spot where you have to back the bike up going uphill. Safety chrome.... :-) And get to know the members in your area. Welcome to the site and congratulations on your first bike !
  15. Its all right here.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1067
  16. Ouch ! What happened? Was it you or one of the workers?
  17. Don't know what percentage of 2nd Gen's whine (bike).... if it was a tendency of all of 2nd Gens Yamaha would never be able to sell them. Since someone opened the issue.... do you ride with 1st Gen'ers? Since the whine is coming from the rear... maybe it is the 1st Gen'ers trying to keep up.... that is when they aren't in the garage repairing plastic or trying to resurect old parts. Seriously... the whine issue is a known problem on SOME of the 2nd Gens. Dealer should do it as a warranty replacement of the basket but make sure (even if you look at it) that it is an "I" basket. Run synthetic (Mobil 1 or Amsol). If they don't offer to try the basket change, go to another dealer and if they say no...then have them submit it to the Regional Rep for Yamaha. Don't wait though. They should be able to do it before summer.
  18. us as well
  19. $75 in Canada - http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/accessories/accessory_details.php?item=1497&group=S&model=3144&category=87 Dollars are pretty much at par from what I last saw.
  20. I'll check and pass word on to him. PM me his email address and I'll pass it along. Thanks !!!
  21. Since the warranty doesn't cross the border... thought a "Canadian" bike would be better for him. Made him aware of the 5yr warranty and that it doesn't cross the border. When I was looking for an RSV I almost bought one at Hully Gully but for warranty in Canada they wanted almost $2,000. Why... when a Canadian one of the same year would have still had a free warranty?
  22. One of the people at work today mentioned that they are interested in getting an RSV (2nd Gen). Anyone know of one for sale in SW Ontario?
  23. I've checked automotive shops and no one had the connector. You may have more luck or someone else can comment if they have a source.
  24. I did a search because I remember someone recently posted a way to connect to the existing wire connector.... couldn't find it. Other posts about this indicate that nobody could find the matching connector anywhere. Best to either ignore it and run your own wires (I installed a 6 fuse block) or cut off the connector and solder into it.
  25. Also keep in mind that they dry out over time and should be replaced when the elastic inside becomes brittle. Helmet nets are great for strapping things down !
