Looking at the bikes on Yamaha's site... one option for a "starting point" is : - 1298cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled in-line four (red line 9,000 rpm), EFI, mileage 47mpg Imperial, easy-access cartridge-type spin-on oil filter, 99 ft lbs torque at 7,000 rpm - shaft drive - ABS - electrically adjustable windscreen - adjustable handlebars offer three positions - easy-to-read instrumentation includes an electronic analog speedometer and tachometer, LCD digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel and coolant temperature gauges, plus a clock as well as a range of warning lights. Other functions include outside air temperature, a gear position indicator and fuel consumption read out - Immobilizer ignition system, "one-key" system to operate all keyed devices on the bike including the main ignition and steering lock, saddlebags and top case Add a little more fairing, communications system, comfortable seats, lower the exhaust... FJR1300 could be a good starting point. Downside of the VMax 1700cc motor is it is only 32 mpg Imperial. Although the 123 ft lbs of torque would be nice, the fuel mileage is the downside.

Bought a can of Seafoam at Canadian Tire today.... almost $13.

For $8 per month you can't go wrong. Cost of 5 coffees per month. I've gone thru the list and they have a lot of movies and tv shows. Watched all the episodes of Soap, started watching Kolchak:The Night Stalker, and Rockford Files. Even if you don't watch it frequently you still can't go wrong for the price. One thing I found interesting though was that I bought a Panasonic plasma tv with wireless and NetFlix but found that the version on the tv doesn't work in Canada but will in the States. Bought a Panasonic wifi bluray player that does support the Canadian version. Go figure.... same brand but one supports Canada the other doesn't.

The iPod shuts itself down/goes to sleep after inactivity. Connected to the bike though it continues to charge and puts a small drain on the bike. Doubt it would drain the battery totally over night though. Would take more than a few days.

Sorry to hear about your situation but look at it as the start of your new life.... and being happier.

Sorry to hear about your Mother. A difficult decision to make but one that needs to be made. Your family will be in our thoughts. Don and Nancy

I'm in Kitchener and only 45 minutes away from their store. Made the mistake of taking my girlfriend shopping there. $800 later.... If you do come down this way, let me know. Several members in this area and always a good excuse to meet, and possibly ride together. Don

I took the image with only one State/Province selected and then used Paint to "fill" a couple other locations. Can then update as I go more places simply by filling in more States/Provinces. Like this map better than what I had ! Thanks !

Leo - where did you get your map from ? Did you take the two and combine them or is it one image for all of N. America?

Depends on how you put your seat in the chair ! Far as I know all Tim Horton's have the standard issue seating. Unless you want to sit in the cushy seats at Starbucks !

Front Brake question...
XV1100SE replied to 2007royalmidnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have a similar issue where just before coming to a stop and using the front brake there is a bit of a "shimmy". Almost feels like pulsing or that the forks are wobbling (?) but forwards and back. Mine has 26k km (16k miles). Changed out the tires at 18k km. Still on original brakes but dealer said I had 50% left when I had the tires done. Never rotated brakes pads. I do have a brand new set of pads for front and back for when it is time. I do have the front end wobble and know I have to tighten the steering head. I want to take care of this before digging deeper into the front end. I'm thinking it is possible a loose steering head might cause the problem as described by the OP. -
Did a search.... possible route for a ride... http://www.motowhere.com/maps/route/Mennonite-Country - 44km Or... so that Carl doesn't have to go so far and won't be late for dinner... could ride down to Paris and take a round about way back. Lets plan it this way.... coffee at Tim Horton's at 2. Weather permitting, kick stands up at 3pm (?) for a group ride. Considering this started out to be an offering of a free copy of printed 2nd Gen Shop Manual....

To avoid confusion.... this is the Tim Horton's beside Pioneer BBQ and Costco. Not to be confused with the one beside "The Brick".

Long range forecast for Saturday is a high of 16 degrees and cloudy during the day, rain in the evening. Meeting around lunch time would be good...but depends on the weather as we get closer to Saturday (so we can all ride). Location... Tim Horton's on King St and Sportsworld (beside Pioneer BBQ) would work. That way anyone that wants to get lunch at Pioneer, Subway, Quiznos, Harvey's, or McDonalds wouldn't have to stray too far. Plus if you get off highway 8 at Sportsworld on your way to/from the Market it will be convenient for you too. Might have to leave it up to Carl to "moderate" the time and location...

Any time that day works for us.

I'll bring it to Carl's for you unless you want to meet next weekend for a coffee. I won't be going to Dover.
