  1. 2009 RSV (Canadian version)... hadn't noticed anything "missing" until a recent post by a UK member showing that their speedometer showed MPH on the glass display and the LCD displayed KPH. Mine only has KPH on the glass display and the LCD is blank. Question for Canadian (bike originally sold in Canada, and not US import) bike owners... does your speedometer show anything other than the needle on the LCD ? Is yours the same as mine or like the one in http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=695026&postcount=18 Mine is like attached. General question - is there a button combination (reset/select) to toggle the display?
  2. Happy birthday !!!!
  3. Should be great weather ! Ride safe !
  4. Sorry Ray. Worked all day today and just saw this. Too late to plan for it now.
  5. Try a little Seafoam. Works wonders on everything else ! Kidding... but sorry about your son's car.
  6. Hope all our members and their families are safe.
  7. Ok.... need a poll. Are all U.S. bikes with both displays and Canadian only with the etched glass ?
  8. Angle the roof on the front end (close to the bike) to make it more aero dynamic. That will help reduce drag. :-)
  9. Next time you are up this way.... let me know ! Live in Kitchener and work in Cambridge.
  10. I want that !!!! How can I get mine to work that way??? Anyone ?
  11. Anyone in the U.S. have an '08 that has both guages on it? Wonder if there is a program that can be loaded to the cluster that will display like this. Is the KPH in the LCD display (?) or painted on the glass ? To OP - if you have a gps, compare the speed shown on the speedometer to the gps. Curious whether or not yours is correct or the same as here where it is 8-10% higher than actual.
  12. I work in the computer department at the Toyota plant in Cambridge, ON where we make the Corolla, Matrix, RAV4, and Lexus RX350 (only plant outside Japan that makes Lexus). Been here 22 years (and every day is one day closer to retirement). The Japanese manufacturing process is based on Team Members following the same process every time they do a particular task. Whether Joe Blow does the process at 7am on Monday or Jane Doe does it at 2:30am Saturday they do it the same way... right down to the path they walk in doing the process. Standardized work is what we call it. Tell people you have a process for doing something and it is understood that it is a departmental/company standard. The old adage of never buying the first year of a new model (also applies to a major model change) should be followed, at least for the first few months of a build. Major model changes involve new parts and new processes and although the major "bugs" get worked out in pilot builds, there is always some tweaking during the first few months of a new build. As for the RSV... yes the bike is basically the same from '99 to '12 but there have been some changes (clutch basket, addition of cd-changer, change to iPod adapter, seat). Colour has changed as well as pin-striping and badges but that is cosmetic. Best model year of the RSV ? Whatever one you ride. (including if it is even an antique 1st Gen - gave Yamaha something to improve on ! )
  13. Choice between riding in 100F or 0F.... I'll take the 100 !
  14. I see nothing wrong with you buying them things they needed. And from what I saw they needed everything you got them. Hopefully you got them an umbrella to sit under. Better get them a puppy too to guard them, and maybe a kitten to go with their cute outfits. Can't wait for another couple years when hopefully I'll become a Grandparent and have my own Grand kids to spoil.... sorry.... be able to buy them things they NEED !
  15. I just figured it out ! He wants to create a forum just like this one but for the CB350 ! BUT... ONLY if he can make a profit from it ! After reading all the comments about how for $12/year we get huge benefits (and a free lunch at MD).... he'll figure he can easily charge $120/year ! Watch for the Honda CB350 forum coming soon ! He doesn't realize he can recreate the family atmosphere as we have here. What he'll get is something similar to other sites where posters continually flame each other but they get lots of advertising to read. To the original OP... sell the mailing list. Apparently there is more money in scavenging emaill addresses and selling them so members can also get inundated with junk mail.
  16. I think there are two people in this world that have nothing better to do. His "friend" found the site "interesting" ... and then they have the nuts to ask where the money goes ? If the OP is still around.... what was your intent? To find out if having a forum is lucrative? This site is about more than whether or not Freebird makes a profit. Do the members get value from their yearly fee ? If you've read the previous.... definitely. Does Don make money off it? Little. Do any members care if Don pockets a few bucks? Not for what he provides us with.
  17. Seeing the after picture of the bike.... REALLY glad you are going to be okay !
  18. Learned that in the naked chat room !
  19. Do a search for whips, naked chat... you'll find 'em !
  20. My '09 only has KPH (Canadian bike). Think U.S. bikes only have MPH. Where was your's originally purchased? Do U.K. bikes have both? On that note.... how accurate is your speedo ? In North America they tend to be off 8-10% (eg. 100kph on the speedo is actually around 90kph).
  21. I've said it before and I'll say it again.... at least 2nd Gen's are made in this millenium !!! Can't get a better bike that is made in THIS century !!
  22. Congratulations !!!!!!!!!
  23. Now now.... don't want to scare off a prospective member. Maybe the $12 Don gets from his membership will pay off his kid's College education !
