Surprising how much damage a deer can do. I hit one in the car (2000 Camry) a couple years ago. With the way the front end of the car is the deer rolled up the hood, windshield, and roof of the car. Ended up with about $3800 damage. Insurance fixed it all.

I too have had good service from them. Had two lower cords giving intermittent sound on one channel. They were good to deal with and fast shipping. Can't address whether or not their products have quality issues, but sometimes service makes up for lower quality. Nice to know they back-up their products which means they have gaith in them. Warranty work costs money.

Glad today turned out better for you !

Lets answer this a different way.... Yes, you can go with statistics comparing a "brand new" 1st Gen to a "brand new" 2nd Gen...but that doesn't give you the whole picture. Because 1st Gen's are antiques... they are more prone to break down than a 2nd Gen. I can understand why you'd have to "carry" a 1st Gen... but on a 2nd Gen, all you do is ride !

I agree that the lifeguard did the right thing. But... from the company's view point... he did go outside the area they are supposed to supervise. Does that open the company up to liability if something went wrong with the lifeguard trying to save someone outside the area they are paid to protect ? In the good 'ol "take 'em to court" USA the company and lifeguard could be sued ... whether the person lived or died. What would have happened had someone in the company's "zone" died while the lifeguard was attending the person outside the area? There is another liability lawsuit ! "Swim at own risk" means exactly that. Must be a minor "Darwin" award for that ! I'd feel more sorry for someone drowning in the lifeguard's zone while he was attending to the person outside the protected area than I would had the lifeguard not responded as he had. I'd still fault the guard had he not responded.... but you do have to look at it from all sides. Sorry.... just the Canadian way ! Local example... driving back from another town nearby (Ancaster) we were passed by a fire engine. It ended up driving almost all the way to Cambridge for a house fire. Took them about 30 minutes to get there. Because of where the city boundary is for Hamilton (which Ancaster is kinda/sorta part of) they had to respond to the fire rather than a crew from Cambridge. Had they responded from Cambridge they would be 5 minutes to get there.

rough running bike

Congrats on the new bike. Can you provide a few details on how many km on the bike? Has it been sitting for a while before you bought it? 1st suggestion you'll get is to run Seafoam thru the fuel. Cost is about $12 from Canadian Tire. Make sure you get the one for "motor treatment" - http://www.seafoamsales.com/motor-treatment.html "Why it works" - http://www.seafoamsales.com/why-sea-foam-motor-treatment-works.html "How to use " - http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-use-sea-foam-motor-treatment.html 2nd - is the fuel good ? Make sure it is fresh 3rd - are the plugs fouled ? Cheap to change them... might still be original. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=62253 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58038 Try these ideas first... then you'll get more info on what else to try (possible carb needle stuck, float....) -
Stator...Which One?

I second that ! Need help, let me know. -
Very happy with the arm rests on my bike. Gives the bike a nice look. Oh... and also important... Nancy likes how comfortable they are ! I lowered the height of the pads 1 1/2" but doing this resulted in having to move them forward about the same distance. Had a section of piping welded in.

FYI.... Canadian bikes do NOT have the dual speed display. I went to the local dealer and they called Yamaha Canada to confirm but apparently there are a few differences between Canadian and U.S. bikes and not having the speed displayed on the lcd panel is one of them. A question for owners in countries where kph is the standard.... does your bike display have the lcd display active ? Just wondering if it is a "Canadian thing" or not.

Stay safe !

Wayne - Just get a 2nd Gen !!! Sorry to hear of more problems with your bike. -
Looking carefully at the owners manual, the picture of the speedo has the display in the lcd, not overlayed on the glass. From what other's responded in the other thread, this is standard display with US bikes.
-
Are you saying you have it in the trunk or on the left side under the back of the drivers seat (mid-way above the passenger foot rest) ? There is a pop-out plastic plug there that is perfect for accessory power.
-
The UK bike was an import from the US. From what I've heard in the other thread, U.S. bikes have both displays. Not sure if it is Canadian bikes that don't have the dual display or if there is a way to turn it on. Hoping someone can suggest something. If not, I'll ask the dealer on Tuesday. Hope you are enjoying the Canada Day long weekend !

One more comment... if the glass display is in MPH then the odometer would also be in MPH. With bikes with the glass display showing KPH then obviously the odometer is in kph too. Wondering.... how does the bike "know" which readings/display to use? Was thinking there might be a different notch on the glass that the computer picks up. That would make assembly easy so they don't have to use a different computer based on destination. Just a different glass piece? Also wondering... if there is a key combination to enable the lcd panel to display MPH... what is it ? Are all Canadian sold bikes without the LCD display (which I would expect would show in MPH) or is mine "special" ? Don't see anything in the parts guide or owners manual. Being a Canadian holiday tomorrow, won't be able to ask the dealer until Tuesday.
