I was thinking we'd arrive at the ice cream stop in time to meet as well and forego the ride. Depends on what time I get out of work tonight but it isn't looking good for being there for 6:30. Mind you...as Carl says "we leave on time".... at the last Wed night ride... WE were on time (2nd Gen of course)... and had to wait for you to pull your 1st Gen out of the garage. Even Wayne (Wizard 765 - another 1st Gen) arrived AFTER the so called 6:30pm departure time. You must be using the clock on the 1st Gen.... a little SLOW is it? Hope you got your cb's fixed up and the weather cooperates.

If we make it we'll probably meet you in Ancaster.

Canadian members - vote on location of maple leaf
XV1100SE replied to XV1100SE's topic in Watering Hole
Both options are available and for those that haven't gotten their order in... I'll take it to the screen printer next week. Anyone that doesn't order/pay before then will be out of luck since this is a one time run of shirts. Anyone that wants shirts... I need to know : mens and/or ladies and size (ladies shirts go up to XXL) number of shirts you want location you want the maple leaf (side or on sleeve) Payment by PayPal, online banking money email transfer, or cheque. PM me for addresses (email address is in the other thread). I'll take orders up until Wed August 22nd. After that.... you'll just have to go shirtless ! -
I have the Utopia too but have been finding that it keeps tilting further back. Think the stop screw is loosening up. I picked up some nuts and tightened that down so it won't back out any more.

Looks like today is the day ! Or... drive over to the Yamaha dealer up the street from you and work out a deal on a new Venture ! Take Wayne with you too ! -
Glad you are okay. Something for everyone to keep in mind... be aware of your surrounding and be carefull out there. After my close call on my birthday I've been trying to be even more aware.

Also glad you had a good and safe trip !

Freebird sent out the email for me since he has access to email addresses. For some reason the copy/paste from the thread didn't post the entire link into the email. The links were : Ad posted in classifieds - http://www.venturerider.org/classifi...p?product=4266 The other link was to this thread. To make sure it was visible... I started another thread : http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72461 I also posted to the facebook page.

Was there any problem with it starting? When it is hot out sometimes the fuel bowls are already full due to expansion. I've had it happen to me too and started wondering if there was a problem with my pump. To do a test.... turn the fuel petcock off from the tank and start the bike. Let it run for a few minutes to drain the carbs. Turn off the bike and then open the petcock and turn the key to ignition. If the pump is working you'll hear it clicking. If you don't hear clicking make sure that you ran the bike long enough to drain fuel out of the carbs. You could turn off the petcock and start the bike and let it run until it stalls for lack of fuel but this will take a while. 2 or 3 minutes should be fine for doing the test above.

Rumbling Pride has responded regarding their offer of a 20% discount on mounts. They WILL provide a discount code so that members can order mounts directly from them and receive the 20% discount. I will post as soon as I get the code from them.

Now the fun starts - dressing it up and making it your own. Highly recommend Carbon One's passenger arm rests and Utopia drivers back rest. Suggest you also read http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72369 if you haven't already.

Our condolences to you and your family. Don and Nancy

Sorry for starting another thread on this but want to make sure as many people see it as possible. Ad has been posted in classifieds - http://www.venturerider.org/classifi...p?product=4266 Previous thread - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72204 Hope it isn't confusing... but to explain. DO NOT DELAY in ordering your shirts as this will be a one time run with no extra shirts produced. 100% pre-shrunk white cotton shirts with a red maple leaf on the side (9" tall/9" wide), VR.org crest on the back, and up to 3 lines of text embroidered on the front (name, screen name, and city/province). If you prefer the maple leaf on the sleeve this is available as well. Cost of shirts including HST (including $2/shirt for use of VR.org crest) is : mens - $18.50 ; womens - $20.25 (based on 50 units ordered). Shipping charges - I went to the post office and had them give me pricing for shipping 2 shirts and 4 shirts to BC and Manitoba. To BC - $12.50 for 2, $15.25 for 4 To Manitoba - $10.25 for 2, $12.75 for 4 Use this pricing to give a fair approximation of shipping to your location. Eg. Saskatchewan/Nova Scotia use $11.50 for two shirts, $14 for four You can also go to canadapost.ca to calculate shipping charges - two shirts weigh 500g. When calculating your cost, multiply quantity times mens/ladies price based on cost shown, and add shipping. If paying by PayPal (use Personal/Gift), when you submit via PayPal there is an option for the sender to pay the fee or the seller.... please accept "sender pays" . If doing online banking and sending money via email (probably easiest way) your bank will charge you a small fee - usually $1.50 This is purely at cost with no profit coming to me. My costs are : - Screen printer (based on 50 shirts ordered) : mens shirt $14.35, womens shirt $15.85 plus HST - Freebird - use of crest - $2 per shirt - Shipping - based on price received from Canada Post with 7 day delivery For International orders (U.S., Australia, UK) send me info regarding how many shirts you would like and your address and I'll get a price from the Post Office on shipping charge before you submit payment. Personal hand delivery is available within a reasonable distance from Kitchener to eliminate shipping costs. Clear as mud? Any questions please post here. Once we get the total number of shirts to print figured out, I will have the screen printer run the shirts. DO NOT DELAY in ordering your shirts as this will be a one time run with no extra shirts produced. Mens and Ladies sized S/M/L/XXL Let me know mens/ladies, size, screen name, leaf on side or sleeve. Make sure both your first name and your wife's is included so if you are ordering a shirt for your spouse we can have her name on the shirt too. eg: Don XV1100SE Kitchener ON Nancy XV1100SE Kitchener ON ---------------------------- For those in the London to Toronto area, I'll set up meet & eats in Toronto area, Brantford, London/Woodstock for delivery of the shirts. I'll order the shirts in the next two weeks (August 24th) so delivery should be beginning of Sept. Anyone else with orders... let me know. My email address is dtohivsky@bell.net. Payment can be by bank email transfer or PayPal. Cheques accepted ... and of course cash ! Make sure you indicate your screen name !

FYI for Canadians.... Government etiquette for displaying flags (must have been a Parliamentary Committee).... http://www.pch.gc.ca/pgm/ceem-cced/etiqtt/101-eng.cfm Sharing the same base - three flags : When only three flags are displayed, the National Flag should be at the centre. To an observer facing the display, the second-ranking flag (in order of precedence) is placed to the left of centre, and the other to the right. A common combination of flags is that of the National Flag of Canada with a provincial or territorial flag, and a municipal flag or an organization's banner. In such a case, the National Flag should be in the centre with the provincial/territorial flag to the left and the municipal flag/organization's banner to the right (to an observer facing the display). Position of Honour : Due consideration should be given to flag etiquette and precedence whenever the National Flag of Canada or other sovereign national flags or provincial/territorial flags are displayed. The location of the position of honour depends on the number of flags flown and the chosen configuration. When two flags (or more than three flags) are displayed, the position of honour is furthest to the left (to an observer facing the display). When three flags are flown, the position of honour is in the centre (see "Sharing the same base - Three flags") Precedence : The order of precedence for flags is: The National Flag of Canada[1] The flags of other sovereign nations in alphabetical order (if applicable)[2] The flags of the provinces of Canada (in the order in which they joined Confederation) The flags of the territories of Canada (in the order in which they joined Confederation) The flags of municipalities/cities Banners of organizations Historical Flags[3] With flags of other Sovereign Nations : The National Flag of Canada, when flown or paraded, takes precedence over all other national flags. When flown with the flags of other sovereign nations, all flags should be flown on separate flagpoles/masts and at the same height, all being of the same size, with the National Flag of Canada occupying the position of honour. The National Flag should be raised first and lowered last, unless the number of flags permits their being raised and lowered simultaneously. With the flag of one other nation, the National Flag of Canada should be on the left of the observer facing the flags; both should be at the same height Pretty sure this differs from American etiquette in that the U.S. flag should always be on the right. Not being political... but that put Canada left of centre?? US etiquette : http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/more/displayonly.htm http://www.almanac.com/content/american-flag-guidelines - "No other flag should be placed above the flag of the United States or, if on the same level, to its right" So... if Canadian flag on left and U.S. on right.... is that looking at the bike from the front or the rear??

I've seen a number of dual flags hung off the trunk rack... no issue.
-
If you don't have the trunk rack, do you have the saddle bag rails? Trunk rack is 1/2" (I believe) and saddle back rails are 3/4" (for sure). For other options besides the mounts offered by Rumbling Pride (see links in previous posts) you coule look at Kuryakyn plus there are others available.

Cheques are fine. Make sure you make it clear what your screen name is on the cheque and note for number of mens/ladies shirts, sizes, location of maple leaf. Make sure both your first name and your wife's is included so if you are ordering a shirt for your spouse we can have her name on the shirt too. My address is : Don Tohivsky 72 Swartz St. Kitchener ON N2E 4A6 Order will go to the screen printer in about 2 weeks, should have shirts early Sept. For those that want to meet & greet... I'll set up dates for Toronto area, London area, Brantford area.... so we can meet more members and I can deliver shirts. For anyone in the surrounding areas that want to save shipping charges we can make arrangements to meet. Any excuse to go for a ride is good !

No problem - Will wait another week before placing the order. Have some more people to collect from and give a little more time for people who have been on holidays a chance to respond.

Lots of threads that mention the HF Tag-along trailer. When I bought mine I followed thecustomer comments and did the following : - repack bearings - rubber tubing (actually a piece of garden hose) on the shackle bolt (rear capture bolt) - replaced lights with LED's - put rubber (another piece of black garden hose) thru the holes where the wiring went thru the frame - replaced the zerk fittings - one was broken out of the box - replaced bolts holding the "car carrier" box to the frame with eye bolts. Will replace these with ones I saw at a trailer store that fold flat. This way I can use helmet nets to secure any load down while trailering - shimmed coupler bolts with a couple washers - DON'T over tighten or it squezes the coupler in and the ball release won't work properly I didn't see how to remove the overload spring so I left it in. Didn't flip the axle either. For the price and how often you use it... it gets the job done. You'll surprised at how much it will hold. I added a cooler rack to the tongue (made by a neighbour) and have to be careful of the tongue weight. You'll want no more than 25-30lbs of tongue weight. The location of the wheels doesn't give a lot of room for shifting weight but if you add a cooler to the tongue try to put as much weight to the rear as you can. The 20% off coupon can be found in magazines like "Car and Driver", "Popular Science"....

Is the harness for a 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, or both? I've already spliced into my wiring but would prefer to get a harness. Didn't see any of the 2nd Gen ones at MD (think the ones I saw were 1st Gen). If 2nd Gen... I'd like one too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_Terrier I'd suggest Cesar Millan... The Dog Whisperer. Read his books, watch his shows. He has a web site. If you've never seen his show... you'll be amazed at how quickly he can take control of a dog... even aggressive "red line" dogs. http://www.cesarsway.com/ Specific to dog biting - http://www.cesarsway.com/askthevet/dogwellness/Dog-Bites-101-Why-Bites-Happen Train him early. Don't let him get away with any behaviour you don't like. Show him who the "pack leader" is. Bad habits just get worse. There can only be one pack leader in the family. You have to "nip" his nipping behaviour now. If you don't take control, he will assume the "pack leader" role and run all over you. I don't have a Rat Terrier... do have a Sheppard/Collie mix.
