I had posted the same thing in the other thread. Over the Winter I'll be replacing the converter with an isolator. If for no other reason than being able to have the trailer 4-ways working if the engine won't.
-
I've seen Carl riding in the passenger seat. Maybe Marca should get her license, trade the 1st Gen on a Spyder, and let Marca do the driving !

If you used a converter and not an isolator (isolator connects to the battery, converter doesn't) then the hazard lights won't work unless the engine is running. Think it has to do with how much power it takes to turn the lights on (remember, without an isolator connected to the battery, the connections have to split the power to all the lights). Even without a trailer, the bike's hazard lights will not work unless the ignition key is turned on (engine doesn't have to be running but key must be all the way on - when you would normally hit the starter button).

Thing is with the scooters though.... are they bicycles or motorcycles? You see a lot of scooters being ridden like they are bikes - hugging the curb, not obeying signs.... hell, even see the odd one on the sidewalk !

I'm sure others can easily top this.... but.. how far out of your way have you gone to get somewhere? For example.... - went to a Tim Horton's 22km away but put 145km on the odometer

How did you make out?

Personally.... I prefer without the rack on the saddle bags. JMO

Where are you going to pick them up? 6 hours put you in our neck of the woods or Quebec ! That puts you at 4 ? Only 2 away to Yammer Dan's #. Let the competition begin !

Nothing missing... but had to wipe their drool off !

Not all Harley riders are dumb though. Was having breakfast with friends last weekend and a group of five Harley's parked near my bike. Watched them thru the window for 10 minutes as they looked closely at my 09 RSV. 10 minutes ! Leaning over it looking at the dash, feeling the seat, kneeling looking at the motor, chrome, and shaft drive....

See if I say it before anyone else.... DON'T use Loc-tite !!!! It will eat the abs plastic ! As for Harley bashing....it is right that no matter what you ride/drive, at some point something will vibrate loose or you'll have a problem. Probably because of the "Harley" attitude we make fun of them and break downs, oil leaks, loose parts get amplified in proportion to the hollier than thou attitude a number of Harley riders seem to have.

I imagine the shooter was killed (sorry... hopefully killed). If not... death penalty sounds like a good idea for anyone killing an Officer. I hope the Trooper pulls thru. -
If I understand you correctly... you carried bird seed in your saddle bag and when you took it out the bag was deformed? Or the saddle bag lid is off in alignment? Have you tried taking the lid off and realigning the hinge?

They have an "invisible" bicycle helmet now. Starts as a collar around the neck but in an accident/fall it inflates like an air bag to protect the rider's head. Are motorcycle helmets next ? http://www.hovding.com/en/how/

You are correct that the emergency 4-way flasher won't work unless the ignition is in the "on" position (regardless of whether engine running or not). Agree with you that this is dumb since if I'm parked at the side of the road I want my 4-way to work without key in ignition (for example if I have to leave the bike on the side of the road and walk to get assistance, or even if I need to use the key to unlock a saddle bag). To clarify what I said... in my bike's current configuration with a converter, with the key turned to "on" (engine not running), the 4 way flashers on the trailer will not work. Signal lights and brakes will work without engine running (LED lighting on trailer btw). For the 4-ways to work on the trailer the engine has to be running. With an isolator (power directly to battery with in-line fuse), the 4-way flasher on the trailer will work with the key in the "on" position whether the engine is running or not. Having the battery connection must boost the power sent to the trailer lights. Anyone ever look at changing the wiring so that the 4-ways can work regardless of key position? Can see this as a potential issue if accidentally left on and battery drained... but has anyone considered doing a by-pass ?

First time round I put in an isolator. When it appeared to be no longer working I put in a converter because it was something like $30 cheaper. What I found was that the 4 ways no longer worked on the trailer unless the engine was running. Everything else was fine though. Already planning on going back to an isolator over the Winter. Would like to find one at a reasonable price though. (remember... I'm in Canada so whatever the U.S. price is, add 15-30%)

I replaced the stock horn on the right side a couple years ago with a Stebel. If I mount another Stebel/Wolo I'd prefer to put it inside the left lower or another location on the left side of the bike rather than on the forks. For those that have two Stebel horns.... is it that much louder than just having one?
-
I was looking at them on Canadian Tire's website. The one they carry is the Fiamm Ultimate Blast. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoCustomPerformance/MiscellaneousCustomization/PRD~0202076P/Ultimate+Blast+Horn.jsp?locale=en

Looking to see if Stebel has a distributor in Canada. A location I had purchased mine from before no longer lists it on their product page. Went to Stebel's home page and the banner says "we are now back in business". http://www.stebel.it/stebel2012/default.asp Considering replacing the stock horn in the left lower fairing. One question ... is there room for a Stebel Nautilus (or Wolo Bad Boy) ? Second question... how loud will it be considering it is inside the lower? Better place to mount it? (off engine guard above and to the right of the toe shifter was a consideration)
