Did a search and there are downloadable "back roads" maps for gps for Canada : http://backroadmapbooks.com/GPS/?gclid=CMWCoazg9LMCFZGPPAodQl4AYA

Just downloaded the Mad Maps for Garmin. They have the US on sale now for $25 (reg $30). Still exploring what has been added to my Zumo after downloading Mad Maps but a neat feature under Extra's is you can pick a state and sorted by distance from your current location it will tell you what is in the State plus "more" gives you details about the sights. Haven't played around with it enough yet to know if it also downloads their routes but at $25 for all of the U.S. States it is a good deal. Anyone else use the gps version of Mad Maps ? Too bad they don't have Canada too !

No... Brad rock's for volunteering to keep us posted on sales !

Sorry Venturous... winners were in Arizona and Missouri. Still... even though you didn't win....I'd like to be on your "good" list.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a possible warranty. The bike might have been purchased late 2007 or 2008 if you aren't the original owner. Simple call or visit to a Yamaha dealer can confirm. If it is something major.... wouldn't you prefer to be absolutely sure it isn't covered? There is a possibility (even slim) there is a warranty and that Yamaha would do it at no charge if it is covered.

Seafoam - 20% off (puts the sale price around $10) 1500 lb motorcycle lift - 50% off - on sale for $65 (reg $130)

Think everyone is suggesting other options before suggesting you replace that. Possible it is the audio control unit on the handle bar? Maybe disassemble it and clean the contacts. Other than that.... sounds like you've ruled almost everything else out. If you don't plug in the helmet connection.... does the cb shut itself off when using the speakers? Being a 2006 .... is it still under warranty? Do you know the original date of purchase? Hopefully you have some warranty left.... warranty is 5 years from original date of purchase. If you don't know, ask a local Yamaha dealer to look it up based on VIN of the bike.

The difference is to add, not repair. -
1st gen winter projects
XV1100SE replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
We've had a bit of snow that is still on the ground. Nothing major in the way of snow but current temperature is -3C/27F. The cold isn't a big deal... you dress for it. But once they put salt and/or brine down on the road, I'm parked for the winter. Salt can really eat at the paint and aluminum and I'd like to keep my bike looking good for several years. Keep in mind that the tires also don't grip as well when both the tires and asphalt are cold. Salted corners can make turning an experience. -
1st gen winter projects

If it wasn't for Winter with snow, ice, and salt on the roads.... the only thing that makes it "harder with a 2nd gen" is the riding and not having to do so much maintenance ! My "list" in comparison : - scheduled oil change (based on mileage) - scheduled fuel filter change (based on mileage) Bike is already on my Carbon One lift, Seafoam in the tank, air bled from shocks. What more is there that has to be done on a 2nd gen ? Just stirring the pot while bored at work. -

There are pics on Delphi. I haven't put mine on yet. Very good quality. (got the ones from Slowroll)

Gotta second the Seafoam. My brother had a 2 yr old lawn mower that he couldn't keep running and bought a new one. I put Seafoam in the "old" one and now have 2 lawnmowers ! Runs fine now !

Any one ever hear of Monogo? At $1,000 and only 54lbs empty weight... seems pretty good. Only 7 cubic foot capacity but for light travelling.... http://monogo.com/Anglais/laRemorque/description.php

Engine swap? WHAT!?!?!
XV1100SE replied to midnightsunrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Could be he has a Strat engine available to him and its an option he is thinking of. I'd lean towards the VMax engine myself. Probably easier to do in the long run.
